What was your greatest sporting year as a supporter?

In cricket, 2004 was actually the best for me. England were unbeatable in Tests. Steve Harmison took the 7 wickets in Jamaica to skittle the West Indies, we then played them at home and whitewashed them. We beat South Africa in their own country too. The Ashes win was great, but we couldn't beat Pakistan afterwards, which was a downer and which makes me think the year before was better.

I would say 2004 was my best in football as well. Norwich were promoted to the Premier League as champions! I went to the celebration at the City Hall and it was wild, it was really great. England did fairly well in the European Championship, but they always do.

when they actually qualify

Football-99/00 season, going to Wembley to see "'The Tractor Boys' plough into the Premiership"
Cricket-Summer of 05, same as everybody elst, the ashes victory
Rugby-Last year, purely because I went to see my first live game, EDF Energy Cup final, Tigers v Ospreys, the atmosphere at Twickers was brilliant!

you cant beat the atmosphear at rugby, when i go to man city your not aloud to take any beer to your seat, when i go to sale they also have a rule, no more than 4 pints per person to be taken to there seat, that tells you all you need to know

I think for me it was 2000, I loved the final of Euro 2000 watched it live. did not watch Asia Cricket cup but we won anyways ;).

UEFA Euro 2000: France
ACC Asia Cup 2000: Pakistan
Scottish Premier League/Scottish Cup: Rangers F.C

I was in Turkey that time ;).

1999, I started watching football the year before and nothing will ever beat 1999. To win the Premiership, CL and FA Cup all in one season is a magnificent feat that no one else has achieved and it would be incredible if anyone did it again.

2005 is second for the Ashes, but its nowhere close to 1999, especially as United had a crap year.

2001, 2003, 2004, 2007, and 2008 have all been pretty good years as an Indian Cricket Team supporter.

2001- Laxman's 281, Harba's magic, that whole series was just phenomenal.
2003- World Cup. Brilliant stuff.
2004- India Pakistan clash after a long time. A really hyped up series and it lived up to it. Also, India vs Australia down under- fantastic. Adelaide was a classic. Sehwag, Laxman, Tendulkar, Dravid, and Ganguly all contributed.
2007- A sad world cup, but I got to go and watch my team get whooped for the first time ever. My first taste of an international match live, the sound of the crowd simply erupting when Jayasuriya got out is something I will treasure all my life. I stayed in the same hotel as all the cricketers, making friends with them and such :). Also, the T20 was good as well, and beating England in England was awesome as well.

2008-WACA test. Brilliant.

1997 and 1998 is when the Adelaide Crows won back to back AFL Premierships. 1st Premiership they won was in 97, only being in the competition for 7 years. One of the shortest in history.

2005 ashes series :D i only started watching cricket in the middle of the 2004 summer flintoff was in some great form in the series v south africa if i rember correctly ? = \

Everything else pales in comparison.

did someone cut the players and paste on that background, :p a' mean looks kinda fake. :p

Newcastle's UEFA Cup run of 2003-04 was the best sporting year for me. That year we reached the semi-final only to have Drogba and Marseille stop us in the 2nd leg :( We'll never get that good a team at Newcastle ever again.
