Who are your picks?

Stuart Broad has all the tools to be a great fast bowler in the next few years with a good economical action and young age can bowl at 85 mph.
One to highlight is his aggression and his accuracy.

Adil Rashid is one you expect from me :p.
You can read more on him in my spin prospects article.
His all round ability will assist England in the long run.

Painful for him maybe, it's funny to laugh at clueless Australians. :)

But in all seriousness, Middlesex's Jeremy Grieg could be Trescothick's natural replacement. Aggressive opening batsman only with a lot more footwork.

Well.... I did say ive never heard of him, now I know why. Hes a retarded cricketer!

Hang on a minute Puddle, didn't this Grieg lad get carted for 40 in an over due to an excessive amount of balls that didn't even land on the pitch?

I reckon by the time he reaches 60 Mark Ramprakash could feasibly be averaging 200 runs a game.

Oh you were there :( I believe it was 42 anyway.

Of course I was there! It was Lancashire's famous innings and 474 run victory over Middlesex and my first visit to Lords. Warren Hegg and Carl Hooper were on fire!

I gotta say Lumb at Hampshire is a good batsmen, and i reckon, give it 4-5 years he'll be around the ODI set up and tests. Similar player to Collingwood and Bell...Likes to take his time, but when the need strikes can blaze the runs!

Another would obviously be Chris Tremlett, hes a good bowler, takes ages for the ball to hit the deck when bowling and is a Harmison type bowler. . . Still needs fine tuning for the big stage!

As for Tom Smith as Matt said, yes, gotta be there, very much like Adil Rashid, too young to be chucked in yet, although he is older than Rashid, he is still too young for the top level of the game...But he has a handy batting technique and at 8, joy to watch slash a few with an "in" batsmen, joyfully he played at my club before moving to Lancahsire so i know his game well. Very good, reliable bowler, maybe not at lancashire yet, but its only his second season...a few years he'll be there!

id like to add Moises Henriques

Of Portugese heritage he was raised to play soccer but cricket was in his blood, anyone who can dominate the under 19 world cup with both bat and ball deserves a mention. His transisition into state cricket has been a struggle with injurys contributing but should be strong this season for the NSW Blues

But surely the Australian's would have a problem playing a Portuguese player? I mean, if it's so wrong to play Pietersen then surely they wouldn't dare of playing Moises?

Jeremy Snape is my pick to have a good Twenty20 world cup.

Short term picks are fine too - Snape and everyone before him added to first post.

Sam Northeast - Still at School at Harrow. Came to prominance when at 13 he scored 9 hundreds for his school. He has won the Bunbury award. Kent do not ask him to come to Kent, they believe his talent is so large, they send coaches and equipment to him. Plays England U19's at 16/17. Made 96 on second team debut as a 16 year old. Scored 62 against Sri Lanka. Massive future.

Stuart Broad - For obvious reasons that have already been mentioned, he has all the talent. Just has to put it inot practise and we're there.

Adam Wheater
Role: Wicketkeeper/Right-hand bat
Adam shows great potential and has a mind-set similar to Alastair Cook in that he is advanced in his years, very knowledgeable and seeks out questions all the time, looking for the answers. He is in the ECB skills-set for wicketkeeping and the feedback from the first session with Paul Farbrace was very encouraging. Adam also had one game for the seconds in 2006 and I expect him to be pushing for a pro place at some stage in the future. Wheater is playing for England U17's against Pakistan U17's in the next few weeks.

Suresh Raina - Having seen the lad bat, he's just too good not to come back and cement his place. It was just a little too early for him first time round.

Well I'll go the uncapped players for the moment, as an Aussie Domestic Fan:

Kumar Sarna (Australia): Won the Comm Bank Rising Star cricketer award for his outstanding effort opening the batting in Victoria's Premier Cricket system, and has not represented the VIC's yet, but will surely push for a place opening the state and national sides in years to come.

Michael Klinger (AUS) - The Victorian bias continues, but if this guy doesn't make the ODI side soon Hayden and Gilchrist will have been smashing centuries every week. Did a bit on him in my article in the news forum, but is a talented batsman and was one of the best batsmen in the Ford Ranger Cup last year.

He moved to Australia as a child... not as a fully grown adult.
