Who deserves a place in the Indian ODI side?

G. Gambhir
V. Sehwag
Y. Singh
R. Sharma
S. Raina
MS. Dhoni
Y.Pathan
P. Kumar
P. Chawla
I. Sharma
RP. Singh/M. Gony

7 Batsmen and 4 Bowlers is the best for india, coz they got people like Sehwag, Pathan, Sharma, Singh to bowl aswell

:)

Do you know Sachin Tendulkar?
If not then still at an age of 36,
He is 2 times better than Gambhir,
6 times better than Sehwag,
10 times better than Yuvraj,
12 times better than Raina,
and 1000 times better than remaining team as far as batting is concerned.

so If He is fit enough to play then He must open for India though not against Bangladesh or Holland but of course against Australia, England and South Africa.

He's like fifty million times better then Gambhir ;):p

Cricketman added 1 Minutes and 54 Seconds later...

Kaif's inclusion in South Africa shouldn't have happened in the first place, Sahil. He only averaged like 42 in the Ranji season.

Badri to debut as captain, KKD can be vice :p

Sachin Tendulkar > Greatest of all :hpraise
@t i think Kaif should be brought back..

Bets fielder and runner in the cricket world :D

Balaji-well considering the way the Indian seamers bowled in the Asia Cup,I really wouldnt be surprised if he gets a call.

I've long heard the argument that pace isn't everything but the fact is, Balaji doesn't have the pace to trouble international batsman. He doesn't have the same run up any more to generate even as much pace as he used to. From what I saw in the IPL, even though that might not be an accurate representation it is an indication of what sort of shape he's in, he has become far too predictable as a bowler- especially his slower balls.

Mhm, if Tendulkar were fifty million times better than Gambhir then his batting would be past Bradman's.

For me he's like 4 or 6 times better than Gambhir.

Irfan already bowls a lot of slower balls and cutters.

Kaif would be a great choice. May not be the best batsman we have, but is brilliant in the field and excellent tactically. While he was in the team he was the fielding skipper, he set who fielded where.

Dinesh Karthik is a fighter, and seemed a very good, innovative batsman, but has just lost his form and kinda become a walking wicket. He was brilliant behind the stumps too, but he needs to start getting some runs.

We also need a new spinner. I've always wondered why Amit Mishra, a legspinner with domestic success, never got picked, and after the IPL I am still wondering. Bhajji is proving to be a bit of a problem, he hasn't been taking wickets and is getting into a lot of off-field trouble. Ojha doesn't look ready and Piyush shouldn't be playing Test cricket. Maybe we might need to give Viru and Sachin more bowling in tests, and Yusuf and Raina in ODIs. Maybe Kumble should return to the shorter format. Or call back Ramesh Powar. Or even better, call back Murali Kartik.

Balaji needs more time. Glad he's back though, nothing tops his smile!

Trivedi looks a decent bowler. He might be good in English conditions, and can apparently bat a little too. Our pace attack is quite nice - Irfan, RP, Sreesanth, Zaheer, Munaf, Ishant, Praveen, Gony - so that really shouldn't be an issue. Agarkar, Balaji, Bose are all knocking around too, so in case of an emergency we can turn to them. Yo-Mahesh looked good in the IPL too, as did Dinda.

And our batting doesn't really need anyone new. Some names have already been mentioned - Badrinath, Tiwary, Nayar, Dhawan, Kaif - so there are plenty to keep the starters on their heels.

Only two keepers have been used recently - Karthik and Dhoni - so I think Patel needs to return. He's been batting brilliantly, almost unstoppable, in domestic cricket, and has improved with the gloves.

So thats it really I guess. No stand-out allrounders in domestic cricket - JP Yadav was already give a shot in ODIs and is a bit old, Laxmi Shukla isn't bad but might not be NT level - so I guess these are pretty much the players likely to play for India in coming years.

I cannot believe you said that!

^^^^^ Chawla is one of the best up and coming leg spinners in the world !!!

Well, here's my XI

1) Sachin/ Rahul Dravid (if Sachin is injured)

2) Gambhir

3) Badrinath/ Kaif - the one who plays will be Vice Captain

4) Yuvraj

5) Dhoni

6) Rohit Sharma/ Manoj Tiwari

7) Dinesh Karthik (if he plays I'd have him keep instead of Dhoni)/ Irfan Pathan (he maybe in a bit of a slump but if he gets his swing back + some pace he can be a devastating bowler)

8) Harbhajan (if he just is a little more attacking he can be a great bowler)

9) Piush Chawla/ Pragyan Ojha - two great upcoming spinners

10) Zaheer Khan/ Sreesanth(backup)

11) Ishant Sharma

I think that Kaif and Badrinath can play similar roles in the team, as both are great batsman and tactically sound.

What's wrong with Yusuf Shravi?

^^^^^ Chawla is one of the best up and coming leg spinners in the world !!!

Yes, best up and coming. Not the best yet, and nowhere near ready for test cricket. Legspinners take longer to be ready (ask Warne), he needs a few more years. They could stick him in now and argue that his occasional brilliance cancels off when his inexperience kicks in, but they have Kumble and more experienced bowlers like Bhajji and Mishra, so there is no need.

Sorry, who? :p

Just did a search on him. Plays for Tamil Nadu. Also played for the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL. He's 28, RMF, RH bat.

Had the roll of selectoral dice gone his way, Rajat Bhatia could have been the allrounder India were looking for when Robin Singh called it a day in 2001. A medium-pace bowler who has for long stuck to one line, and a batsman good enough to tough it out at the crease, Bhatia has turned in many influential performances in domestic cricket. Chchotu is still regarded highly by those who played with and against him, especially in Tamil Nadu, even after he left them to return to Delhi, his original state. By the time he emerged as a finished product as an allrounder, there was no specific need for one, and he missed the boat for India selection. India's loss has been Delhi's gain, and ironically it is Tamil Nadu who suffer at his hands repeatedly, as he rarely fails to make a telling contribution with bat or ball against his old state team.

46 FC games, 43 OD games. Averages 46 with the bat and 21 with the ball in FC - wow. But 30 with the bat and a smidge under 40 with the ball in OD, economy of 4.67.

9 matches in the IPL. 3 innings, 34 runs in 28 balls, out twice. Took 6 wickets in 22 overs at 8.31 RPO.

Sachin Tendulkar
Gautam Ghambir
Subramanium Badrinath
Suresh Raina
MS Dhoni
Manoj Tiwary
Abhishek Nayar
Piyush Chawla
Zaheer Khan
Sreesanth
Ishant

Looks awesome to me.

Rajat's batting isn't that good in my opinion, his bowling is decent but I don't know if he could trouble international standard cricketers.
