Why isnt Bracken playing tests?

It doesn't matter what arm he bowls with - he's just low down in the pecking order.

Lee
Clark
Johnson
Noffke
Bollinger
Bracken

He doesn't have the penetration in tests. He's a fantastic ODI bowler because of his variety. Due to that he tends to get most of his wickets due to him being able to bowl in the same place over and over with a mixture of different balls means that the pressure gets to batters. That won't happen in tests.

Bracken is good at coping with Batsmen when they try to attack him. His different deliveries and pace is the reason for that. In Test Cricket you need something else to do the job. I don't think Bracken really has that.

His to slow. He bowled to Matthew Hayden in a state game before the Sri Lankan series and I vividly remember watching constant replys of Hayden walking down the pitch and hitting him over his head with ease.

That's what Hayden does very well though. He did that to the Indians this summer many times.

People do talk about his variety but he's accurate and gets swing early on. The problem is they don't need bowlers like that at the moment since Clark already gives them that option. They have Lee and Johnson can bowl 90mph plus and that's all they need from the fast bowlers. Maybe if Clark gets injured, Bracken has a chance.

Umm, same pace as McGrath and Stuey Clark and they do/did great.

Well i don't think its because his pace..
His wicket taking ability is on question!!!
He has played 5 test Matches..He bowled 185 overs and took 12 wickets at an average of 42.08..And thats weired..something more that make this more weired is that"these all matches he played were in Australia"..
So its not like he is touring sub continent and couldn't able to take wickets.
Despite of slow pace McGrath and Stuart are killer for Batsman...And you are not useful in test cricket if you can't take wickets..

I know 5 matches are not fair to analyze but thats all he has played..
