World Test Team

Chris Gayle
Graeme Smith
Ricky Ponting
Kevin Pietersen
AB De Villiers
J Kallis
K Sangakarra (wk)
Daniel Vettori
Dale Steyn
James Anderson
Mohammad Asif

do you guys take into consideration where you are playing these batsman. Sanga bats at #3 and Kalli also at #3 or 4. Also Sanga doesn't keep in tests anymore.

Since this is a dream team I figured I could shuffle them around. A few key positions I did not change like Gayle and Smith to open, Punter at 3 and KP at 4. Kallis AB and Sanga are versitile enough to bat anywhere in the top/middle order.

Also, I would make Sanga keep anyways as this is my scenario and I am god in it :)

But if the team was actually to go out and bat you might have the same thing happen that happened when the World XI played Australia.

I have no doubt he has what it takes to do the job.

Sehwag

Zaheer Khan (2)

Sarwan? Bravo? Khan?
None of them would be in my test team, neither would Sehwag, Dravid or Swann.

My team would probably be:
(This is with little thought, so not 100%)

Smith
Gambhir
Ponting
Tendulkar
Kallis
Sangakkara
Vettori
Johnson
Bond
Muralidaran
Steyn

You tell him something and include Bond who is injured and Murali who has been a shadow compared to a few years ago.

I'm obviously assuming Bond is fit... ;)

He included Zaheer Khan as his opening bowler, he has only once had a year in his career where he averaged under 29...

How can you play Bravo (33 batting, 39 bowling) over Kallis, I will never know.

And Sarwan, well I can name a dozen test match batsmen who are better than him.

You obviously need to play two spinners on these roads they are producing in the sub-continent, and behind Vettori I think Murali is still the best man for the job.

do you see where Khan has to bowl, on what pitches and still bowls well and has some great spells. I wouldn't fault him for including Khan.

well Bravo is doing good against the Aussies and that might have influenced his decision. With Kallis not bowling atm, and not as much over the past few years Bravo seems like a good choice for a pace bowling all rounder. He is better then the numbers suggest and has actually performed well against Australia in his career.

Sarwan has had a great year prior to this tour, owned England.

Swann has done really well and hasn't even played a test in the subcontinent.

1. Gautam Gambhir
2. Graeme Smith
3. Ricky Ponting
4. Jacques Kallis

6. Sachin Tendulkar
7. Michael Clarke
8. Daniel Vettori
9. Mitchell Johnson
10. Dale Steyn
11. Shane Bond (full fitness)

^^^ Exact same team as me, apart from the fact I would play an extra bowler instead of Clarke. :)

@ Dare - We will just agree to disagree. ;)

Big names but Sachin and Sanga are batting far too low down for my liking.
