World's most Over-rated and Under-rated player!

he has an average of over 50 me thinks. That's pretty damned good if you ask me! I'll tell you what, I wouldn't mind him playing for Australia!

i think Grame smith is overrated, he cant even pay a good straight/off drive, how is he supposed to be a top quality batsman, thou he is a good captain

Under-rated...Paul Collingwood, Matthew Hoggard, Ashley Giles, Michael Clarke, Ajit Agarkar, Shoaib Malik, Chaminda Vaas, Kumara Sangakkara, Shaun Pollock

Over-rated...Brett Lee, Shoaib Akhtar, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Sourav Ganguly, Makhaya Ntini.

Yuvraj scored a quick 143 vs AUS at the SCG last year batting at no.6 and dont forget his other important knocks
He scored a quick 40 vs Englnd at the world cup , a 49 vs SRL to take india thru to the ASIA CUP Finals , natwest final , wc game vs pak
and last but not the least when a guy scores 83 on debut vs AUSTRALIA in a Mini world cup quarterfinals he must have something special about him.

Moreovr r u people in ur senses when u call VVS Laxman ovrerrated
He scored 3 centuries in a week in Australia
his scores in th Tests in US were
GABBA - 75, 23 n.o
Adelaide 148, 30
MCG 19,19
SCG 178
What a poor btsman ? What about his hundred at gwalior last year vs AUS , Hundred at GABBA in th VB Series , both of the games India won
He also scored a match winning 100 vs PAK in the finl ODI at lahore

Ceck out the stats , laxman is mostly the man for crisis situations and so is Yuvrj , they are class cricketers and by no means over rated

Underratd players : VAAS - gr8 bowler in the shadow of Murali
Astle, Cairns , Gayle , Azhar Mahmood , Youhana, KALLIS kumble karthik

OVERRTED agarkar,

...Ajit Agarkar, Shoaib Malik, Chaminda Vaas...
Under-rated as batsmen, maybe
(Clarke, Sangakara and Pollock for teh win)

Over-rated...Brett Lee, Shoaib Akhtar, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Sourav Ganguly, Makhaya Ntini.
Too true.

Are you saying you wouldn't like him playing for England?
Here's his stats:
Matches: 26
Runs: 2350
Highest Score: 277
Average: 57.31

how is brett lee over rated the man just has just recovered from an ankle injury and he had an operation when a player comes back from injury it takes time to perform.

look at tendulkar when ke cameback from his injury agains aussies he made 9 and 2

Over-rated: Justin Langer.........I know he is part of the most successfull opening combination for Oz, but everytime he scores runs its on the back of either getting a life from the fielders or from the umpires.......It is alomost ridiculous how much luck this man has got over the past few years. It is nearly got to the stage he has to get a life to even score a 50 these days.....(as was proven in the 1st Test against India at Banglore)

Under-rated: I think many of the Sri-Lankan players are very much under-rated.....Sangakarra and Vaas, but the fact is that SL play a hell of a lot of cricket at home and that suits these players really well......but in saying that Vaas is the most under-rated bowler........given that SL play mostly at home and he bowls on wickets which are most auited to spinners, he takes a hell of a lot of wickets with the old and the new ball........I think SL can put up with losing Murali, as they showed in Pakistan, but don't think they would go that well if they lose Vaas.

I wouldn't called Langer over-rated. Many people don't really hold him in that high of a regard. And i dont think you can call people who are lucky over-rated. A lot of bowlers wickets come from luck, would you call every single bowler over-rated, i think not

Yuvraj is a good fielder and a decent player to have in one dayers, but he is absolutely useless for test matches.

Laxman is a good and very talented player, but he only plays well against Australia. Also he goes through bad patches a bit too often for my liking.

Ajit Agarkar is very underrated according to me. See what India lack at the moment is an allrounder. Almost every team has atleast one genuine allrounder. Flintoff and Collingwood for England, Clarke & Symonds for Australia, Klusener and Kallis for South Africa, Bravo and Gayle for the Windies, Shoaib Malik and Abdul Razzaq for Pakistan, Dilshan and Jayasuriya for Sri Lanka. Agarkar is not in the same league as these other all rounders, but is the closest amongst all the indian players. The team must show more confidence in him and develop him into an useful and much needed allrounder. Many people forget that it was his 6 wickets against Australia in the 2nd innings of the Second Test, that won India that Test Match on Australian soil.

Clarke isn't an all-rounder, he's a batsman who can bowl a bit. Irfan Pathan is turning out to be a hand batsman, but he cant really bowl in Tests

very true, Agarkar IS very underrated
I wish that guy could bowl with more constitancy... :(

yeh ur right about smiths stats, i just dont think he can drive!!
Ntini isnt overrated personally!

It's just absolutely hilarious to see people saying Laxman is overrated cuz he plays well ONLY against Australila.. so tell me something, which is the best team in the world again?? How many guys from the teams you support would have their best performances against Australia.. ok how many of them would suck every time they played Australia?? [must be the easier qn to answer!!] What if he only played well against Bangladesh.. you guys would've been like.. oh I bet he's exposed if he plays against an opposition like Australia.. gimme a break here! What's a man gotta do really? Sachin after a day of batting with him in Australia once said ' I wasn't gonna try and do what he was doing out there'.. Now that's respect! He even got mementos from the Aussie rules football team [I think]... And oh he did make a match winning hundred in the final against Pakistan in Pakistan when India were in trouble.. And when on song he's absolutely THE most elegant player to watch, on both on and off sides against any kind of bowling.. Oh he did make a crucial 70 odd against Pakistan in that final test match which we won too.. He failed in Zimbabwe though.. No wonder people think he's overrated.. He got close to scoring centuries in South Africa.. again.. that man is just elegance personified, to borrow a line you often hear!
So please stop this non sense about him being overrated.. People in India say he's brilliant but inconsistent.. that's in no way overrated!!!
And Ganguly isnt overrated either.. He absolutely made the current Indian team which was at one time challenging Australia for the top team spot.. Every batsman has his weakness.. He's working on it really hard and uhh does do a good job of hitting bowlers like Brett Lee [In WC 2003] Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammed Sami, Makhay Ntini for sixes, often stepping down the wicket..Sure he's not as good in tests.. still that 144 in Brisbane really did make the rest of the guys stand up and fight.. they were a different line up after that! And oh Ricky Ponting averages 12.83 in India after 3 damn tours.. The shots he played to get out in 2001 were priceless.. and yet when he goes over to Australia I constantly get reminded by the commentators that he's a GREAT player of spin.. HA you wish! It's the same with bowlers.. I mean how come 2 for a 100 or an average of 30 odd away as opposed to 21 at home in 'good' conditions is ok for a bowler to have..You can excuse the bowler I guess for its always back breaking work.. But a batsman from the sub-continent gets picked on for playing better at home if that is the case... It is always easier to adjust from high bounce to low bounce rather than the other way around..
Anywayz.. if you're still reading.. I agree Fleming is underrated.. So is Vaas..That guy is awesome!.. and even some of the guys in the Bangladesh team.. As for being overrated.. most of the guys in the England team are.. but then again the rest of the teams make sure that that doesnt happen for long so.. lol.. And Aussie captaincy is often overrated.. although I believe Steve Waugh was wonderful.. Warne still hasnt bowled a SINGLE match winning spell against India anywhere.. and again I hear commentators making up all kinds of excuses for him .. instead of just admitting that he just met his match in many ways.. I mean not even bad decisions in Australia when India were there could help him out.. Other than that I think he's one of the best ever spinners to have played this game.. although I wish he were a better role model.. It's still an absolute joy to watch him bowl.. That guy's a genius!

Adam Gilchrist might have a different opinion than you about Irfan and his bowling in test matches.. So would all the batsmen that he has and will knock over in tests! And the guy's 20 you know! Oh the most overrated guy is definitely Justin Langer.. It makes me go nuts every time I watch him bat.. He's one of the most luckiest sob's around.. Still he makes his luck count, I guess I gotta give him that!
