Don't care what you call it, soccer/European football is the worst sport in my mind. Absolutely boring to watch, and playing must be frustrating, trying over and over to set up plays and having them knocked back over and over.

Say that to any country where football is popular (much more than half of the countries in the world) and you would get laughed at!

I'm sure that it's a great game when your country is into it, but the majority of Australia will definitely agree with me that it is boring.

But then again, the Americans would say cricket is boring and baseball is exciting, suppose that's just the way it goes.

yeah you say that now but if australia do well in the world cup then all of sudden it's bigger than cricket and AFL

Actually the correct name is Assocation Football. Soccer was first used as an abreviation in England when Rugby Football came about

We have:-

Assocation Football
Rugby Football (2 codes)
Aussie Rules Football
Gaelic Football
International Rules Football (Hybrid of Aussie Rules and Gaelic)
American Football
Canadian Football

And probably some more too. All have the right to call themselves football, as all are versions of football.

Assocation Football gave rise to Rugby Football and Gaelic Football
Rugby Football gave rise to both codes of rugby and American Football.
American Football and Rugby Union combined to create Canadian Football.
Gaelic Football and a bit of Rugby gave rise to Aussie Rules football.
