Would Shakib Al Hasan make a team other than Bangladesh?

ahhahahha joke of the year for me..Shakib would walk into England side anyday..tell me any decent spinner eng had in the recent past except swann. As a bowler swan is only a bit better then Shakib but as an all Rounder shakib is miles ahead ( I am a neutral btw).

True England have lacked a decent spin bowler apart from Swann. But I would much rather have Swann than Shakib that comparsion is stupid. You should do one with like Shakib and Michael Yardy and then I would rather have Shakib. In terms of all-rounder England don't need batsman. I would consider Shakib as a natural all-rounder (maybe batting better than bowling).

it will be interesting to see him in the IPL where he's going to be in a team that's always a lot more closely matched to the opponents. he was pretty good for kolkata today, 2 wickets, got a bit of revenge on watson.

as for the swann comparison, well swann is the man on form right now so I think he would get picked over shakib. but shakib does 8 years of youth on his side to improve (exactly actually, they share the same birthday) and they're not that far apart.

england dont need to play more than one spinner. if everyone ine their team is fit. an attack of anderson, broad, tremlett/shahzad and swann...where would shakib go?

He would be be the direct replacement for the retired Collingwood in tests & would solve England's search for a proper all-rounder to bat @#7 in ODIs.

m sure england could find a better allrounder than shakib somewhere in the county scene. in fact adil rashid is coming along nicely. tremendous bowler and if he works hard enough he good turn into a real batting threat. one for the future. should be in the test squad when england play a dare i say it lower ranked/worse test team. say BD, WI, or NZ.

And in limited overs, there can be no question he would walk in ahead of the Yardys, Tredwells and Wrights who are tried and fail as fifth/sixth bowlers virtually every game.

Perhaps, maybe, if and should. Rashid is not even in the team currently. Maybe he should be. Maybe Patel is England's great hope, or Blackwell or Wainwright or whatever. Right here and now, in the real world, we're talking proven international all-rounder vs. fond hope. It's no contest!

well the whole discussion is theoretical because shakib would not be allowed to play for england anyway. i was just answering the fact that england needs a good replacement for colly. blackwell and patel have been tried. wainwright is nowhere near as talented as rashid.

Absolutely not my friend.

Firstly no their is no test standard all-rounder anywhere on the county scene that is remotely comparable to Shakib.

Plus IMO Rashid is not test standard (much less international standard) regardless of what he is doing for Yorkshire, at this stage of this career & recent selection show the England selectors feel the same way. Given that Tredwell (who is a division 2 player) was selected as the main back-up spinner to Swann in recent tours to Bangladesh 2009 & the world cup over Rashid who is doing well in Division 1. Whether he can improve in the future is a MASSIVE if ATS.

Well you never know with the English Can't stop the wishful thinking of their fans anway. I think it was one of the World Cup threads here where there was a page or 2 of how the England team would look with Ryan ten Doeshcate in it.
