Indian Premier League - General Discussion

What match lose for CSK... Dhoni doing his best, but team not responding well... From the start of the tournament, CSK camp not looks like they always use to be... 4 drop catches contribute a lot in Shikar's maiden t20 century...

I hope these games show how important Pant is to the Delhi side and in general as a cricketer. Carey's made a lot more mistakes than him with the gloves both domestically and internationally yet you don't see a hungry group of Aussie fans braying for his head like the Dhoni stans in our country. And Carey's power game is nowhere near Pant too. Hope he comes back and plays a bit more like the older Pant too, the current Delhi side has Stoinis, Hetmyer, Axar and Ashwin after him to play on and finish games unlike the older sides that had an inconsistent Maxi/Ingram and Morris.

You can't be serious. Dhoni HAS to take a part of the blame too. I understand that there is no point in criticizing someone who should have been retired but he hasn't been anywhere near good with the bat, has struggled with the gloves at times and a lot of his captaincy calls have been questionable. Wonder if he does pull a Gambhir if Chennai's chances of reaching the playoffs are over.

Dhoni batting is not good and he also admitted that in 1st match itself... But whenever I hear Stump voice or little footage of he talking to bowlers, we can easily guess that, bowlers not bowling according to his plan and also fielding of CSK is even wrost than RCB this season... Only Deepak Chahar bowling with confidence, because he fully trust dhoni and if he took that catch of Dhawan, than it will be a easy win for CSK today...

CSK’s issues are spin bowling at the top among many and this is their tournament.

Today was even more reason to play Tahir since they strengthened the batting with Jadhav and opted to drop PC.

Bravo no longer bats and he gets very few strikes in the middle or top of the order. CSK already have Curran at the death.

Honestly, this CSK squad is "DONE". Cannot expect any miracles from them considering the age of the players involved. This squad needs to be almost completely disbanded (barring a few like Jadeja and Curran, who need to be retained for the future) and a brand new squad needs to be built if CSK have to get back their mojo in IPL. We are entering an era where teams with younger players and fresher legs/mindset are going to start dominating and if CSK do not build a squad around the new 'normal', they will just be so left behind.

Kudos to Delhi! They have a beautiful side that covers most of the bases. It will only be fitting if they fight it out against Mumbai Indians in the final.

If Shaw works on his technique against moving delivery, he can be a deadly opener. I like him more than Gill & Padikkal, who are also good but are typical Indian batsmen who play slow at the start. Shaw, Pant & Pandya are our best bet in T20s and need to back them.

MI & DC are well-rounded teams and both have great squad depth. A win today for MI will almost seal a playoff spot

and umpire give out at his 99 score, but ball a mile away from the bat...
Could be wrong but kind of felt like the umpire decided to trust the reputation of Dhoni there and went in his favour seeing a massive appeal from him. Not saying Dhoni was wrong in appealing - he could probably be using that as a tactic to rattle the batsman.

We saw that happen earlier with the wide call in the other match as well - a disturbing trend if true. An umpire should always go by his instincts and not by the gestures of the players on the field.

That wasn't actually a wide. Similar instance happened in 2017 IPL in a match between Rising Pune Super Giant & Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium. Mumbai needed some 17 runs in the last over and on the very first ball Rohit Sharma moved towards the off-stump trying to hit Unadkat who was bowling outside off-stump from round the wicket. Since the ball was outside the wide line Rohit left that ball and it wasn't called a wide, most people supported that decision as well. It eventually resulted in Rohit getting out the very next ball and Mumbai went on to lose that match.

Which is exactly what I was pointing out. Dhoni definitely had a part to play in that decision.

So Bravo out for a few days or weeks, which is a blessing in disguise since CSK refused to drop him. This probably means Tahir will come in which will definitely add bite to their bowling attack.

Also got a feeling that Russel might fire today because....SRH.

Bowling looks pretty thin for Sunrisers, looks like Shankar and Samad to complete 4 overs together. The SRH game plan looks like it's leaning towards the batsmen to play with more freedom while chasing today.

What wrong did Nadeem do to be dropped? I think Shankar should've been dropped not him

Rashid has looked off colour ever since Tewatia laid into him.
