I think Kohli missed a trick by only playing one spinner. This surface has a lot more turn than previous 2 matches.

Ok we have got bowled out on 329 but I like this approach!!!!!
Lost one too many too early. Hardik in about five to ten overs too soon.
Pant 209 (108 balls)
Pandya 148* (68 balls)

India 534/5 (50 overs)

So 330 the target it is then , told ya!

India are 50-60 runs short they Pant and H Pandya were going 400 was also very much possible.

India's problem is the top 3. You need someone there who can put you ahead of the curve from the get go. The brief needs to be clear to the openers to take 4-5 overs to access the conditions and then make the move. The thing about Rahul is that if he's assured he won't be dropped he can play the aggressor. Rohit can tear any attack apart once he's set on most occasions. Kohli can anchor and the others can do what they do. SKY at 4 is an absolute must. He is someone who can create havoc for the opposition captain because he doesn't allow the spinners to bowl.

Hardik came in at 25th over mark thrice in Australia. He scored a couple of 90-odd and a 60-odd. He can play longer. It was more about the wickets that Rashid and Moeen got. As I said this pitch has turn and we are lacking there. If India can get through England's top order before 100 and have them somewhere 125-130 for 3-4 wickets down they would create havoc in the English camp.

That day we had a discussion in this thread whether Pant should open. How much would you buy that idea?

Yeah, I think Pandya and Pant in at the halfway stage is the fine but the Indian tail means that the more aggressive approach upfront can lead to falling a bit short. I'm surprised they didn't make more than the last match, but they were still well ahead.

Match 1: 250 45th over
Match 2: 250 43rd over
Match 3: 250 36th over

Jadeja
Sundar/Axar/Ashwin
Thakur
Bhuvi
Bumrah

I think this would be a good option, particularly when Hardik is able to bowl.

Have you heard of Moeen Ali?

He averages 94 in his last 17 matches.
He gets to play because there is no batsman in England who could bowl spin as good as he does. Also he plays as a batting all-rounder. Ashwin is a proper bowler. I would rather have him kept fit for Test matches

Yeah I agree to be honest. I think they'd be better taking a long term view and looking at someone like Washington or sticking by those they already have.

Rahul has no weakness against any sort of bowling. His weakness is in his head. He has been bit by the "consistency syndrome" and he's just become a tentative kitten at the start of his innings.
Everyone has a weakness
