England's tour of India - 2021

Jinxed him.
I while having a Whatsapp chat with my, friend refrained from saying it and eventually she said Pant will score a ton and next over he got out...

Been thinking about it for nearly a year now but is it a really bad idea to play Thakur at seven as the backup for that position? Could allow us to play two frontline spinners in certain situations too.

That was unlucky man!!! You are being a little harsh on him.

It's just that I've seen him get out too many times in poor fashion. If Dhawan gets criticism for throwing it away after a start today and for game 1 despite playing a not too dissimilar knock to Rahul in game 2, Rahul sure deserves a fair bit too.

It's a position too high for him tbh.

Honestly, if England are serious about playing Wood in the Ashes then they need to get him fitter. He's bowled 5 overs and he's huffing and puffing. It's not like he's had a long tour either. He missed the last ODI, missed one or two T20's and didn't play a test.

I am not one of those from yesteryear who don't get workload management but some cricketers in today's day and age are treated like 4 week old kids/pupies.

On the other end of the spectrum you have Ben Stokes who has been doing everything every game.

This might be India's second biggest ODI batting problem. Spinners with four fielders out in the deep will always be at a big disadvantage and England were the first side to truly capitalize on it. India's top three and Rahul have all got some form of weakness versus one specific spinner. Shreyas Iyer can't come back soon enough, bloke can really destroy spinners.

Rahul has no weakness against any sort of bowling. His weakness is in his head. He has been bit by the "consistency syndrome" and he's just become a tentative kitten at the start of his innings.

I believe he's unwell not unfit. And still bowling 140+ every ball.

I think Kohli missed a trick by only playing one spinner. This surface has a lot more turn than previous 2 matches.

Ok we have got bowled out on 329 but I like this approach!!!!!
