Rahane/Jadeja/Patel/Jayant can take care of the middle/lower middle order. While this serves as a notice to Vihari to improve his game, India has a lot of options.

A home series possibly gives him a chance to improve his game against a quality opposition in turn helping his confidence. Vihari has been a proven performer in the domestic circuit over the years and has scored a century for India in difficult batting conditions. If he is to be left out after his innings at SCG then I don't know when would he be allowed to settle into this side. Any middle order batsman is a gold for India right now, so a guy averaging 60 must be given handful opportunities.

No. I did not mean to say that Venkatesh Iyer should not have been picked because of his IPL success. I was just saying that we have selected too many openers including Venkatesh Iyer, who is selected for his opening success with KKR, even though he has played a finishing role in domestic cricket in the past.

Something that should be brought to notice when we talk about players not getting enough security regarding their spots. This is a prime example of how few players would be feeling when they are suddenly sidelined without getting any hint about it. Hopefully Dravid will help change that culture.

Amazing read this. Bharat Arun has been instrumental in getting our bowling where it is today. I can safely and proudly say that off late our bowling has won us more matches compared to our batting unit. I hope our bowlers continue to perform under Dravid.
