England Lions in India

Flintoff is playing only as a specialist batsman tomorrow, but he might start bowling in some of the other England Lions games this week.

The Lions should beat Mumbai considering that Mumbai's best players will be in the Duleep Trophy final.

Abishek Nayar won't be. :p

Nah, I'm still backing Mumbai to give them a good fight. They still have the likes of Muzumdar, Agarkar and Powar, I think.

Oh look, Rahane's at it again, shame he couldn't get the century.

I can't seem to find an active scorecard, they all say "yet to bat" Yet the game has started today...
----
We won the game, Carberry scoring a hundred. Flintoff played. No scorecard, I think this is due to these games being arranged only after our failure to reach the Duleep final.

Carberry is doing fantastic on this tour. We could well see him in an England shirt in the future, especially if Strauss fails next month.

He is the scorecard.

He has a chance but if Flintoff can come back as an all rounder, then England would like to slot Flintoff in and Vaughan will go up to open, with Strauss dropped.

Carberry is doing his chances no harm though on this tour. If he keeps making runs he could be in line for a spot.

Some passion by Carberry. He is looking good.
I don't think STRAUSS should be dropped?
I rate him more than M VAUGHN.
Strauss along with Cook is best combination for england in tests.

Vaughan is a much better player than Strauss. Technically and stats wise.

I think Cook and Vaughan would be a better combination than Cook and Strauss. its a left hand - right hand combination, you have a promising young player in Cook and a experienced captain in Vaughan. Personally if Strauss doesn't score any runs in the warm up games, we should leave him out but the mangement will probably give the test matches and assess how he's going after that.

I think Vaughan should bat at number 3 followed by Pietersen and Bell.

That would depend on whether Strauss plays or not. If Strauss plays it will be this 7:

Cook
Strauss
Vaughan
Pietersen
Collingwood
Bell
Ambrose

If Strauss doesn't play:

Cook
Vaughan
Bell
Pietersen
Collingwood
Shah
Ambrose

We are getting off topic now though. This is about the England Lions.

No one other than Carberry has impressed to a high level, that's a shame.

Well sir If you talking about stats then i have something for you.
A strauss average is 40.79 overall
But If you ask Away venues(not in england) average is 40.82
http://stats.cricinfo.com/statsguru...=2;template=results;type=batting;view=innings

Now for M vaughan average is 43.54 overall
But If you ask Away venues(not in england) average is 38.11
http://stats.cricinfo.com/statsguru...ay=2;template=results;type=batting;view=match

Now then,In the matches where England won A strauss average is 47.80
http://stats.cricinfo.com/statsguru...=1;template=results;type=batting;view=innings

for M vaughan average is 40.37
http://stats.cricinfo.com/statsguru...lt=1;template=results;type=batting;view=match

so Stats are still very complicated.

Vaughan has been able to keep of consistant form ever since Australia. Strauss is till trying to get out of a bad patch, which he's had since the ashes.

OK no more on the issue since this is about the England Lions.

But, I'd rather have Michael Vaughan who contributes more as a whole, in general than someone who contributes more when we win etc.

I got you.I want them both but my point is you can't drop Strauss.
Ofcourse Michael Vaughan is a standard test Player But you can't drop Strauss because you want Michael in opening slot.
I love Strauss.:p

Well, we can drop Strauss, especially if he doesn't perform in the test against NZ. He's only been brought back cos we needed a slip fielder and some more experience. He did absolutely nothing on County Cricket to deserve the recall.

Nice guff talking on sky sports though.

Anyway all of you stop talking nonsense. Fred will never ever play for England again and if he does it will only be for a short period of time and he won't even be that good.

I'm not surprised we're doing rubbish tbh from a young age English cricketers are taught not to score runs or take wickets in the subcontinent, second lesson behind how to collapse, lose games from easy positions and drop catches.
