Bucknor in the news again - This time for the right reasons

he one made some mistake back in 2000 when pakistan toured wi and it was 200 for 9 jimmy adams and courtney walsh were at the crease and bucknor once gave jimmy adams not out and once walsh and even walsh and jimmy both were clearly out and later he even said sorry. ?? any bdy no this??

I hate it when fans bring up umpiring mistakes from years ago.

No one remmebers. It's petty and pathetic.

Well atleast it is legal that he is out. :D
Nice one Stevo. :clap

Bucknor problems is with eyes and ears not with rules of game. He knows much about all of laws of game to implement them.

And hes no legend. He was unfit for Football refeering and ICC did favour on poor soul.

He was unfit for Football refeering
Very possibly seeing as he's a cricket umpire now. Football referees have to do a fair bit of running around, cricket umpires don't!

Nice to see people acknowledging a correct decision rather than just focusing on the negative.

Bucknor is running out with age.ICC should have some rule concerned to age of Umpire that after some age you can't do that Job..
Bucknor need rest.He served enough..

I agree, according to the rulebooks this is a correct decision by the umpire. But, many a time I have seen the ball bounce twice before reaching the batsman and going for four, only for the umpire to call it a dead ball.

Is this rule new? Will anyone explain it to me?

I think when it bounces a second time past the popping crease, it's a dead ball. I'm not quite sure though.

I'm still trying to figure out what this has to do with India....
It's just a ploy to get a response so that they can then say, "it was in the past, gee get over it."

I guess it is just one of those rules that not many knew too much about. Basically take what you think is the rule and add one more ball. It can only be called dead if it rolls or if it bounces three or more times before reaching the crease.

So this double bounce thing could be made into a bowling variation?
This is a crap rule, and the ICC should amend it so that only one bounce is allowed, if not adjudge it a no-ball or a dead ball.

Its rare skill to bowl twice bouncing balls. Maybe bowlers should practice it more often.

Funny about De Viller's comment. He's either a liar or he was trying to show dissent.

Damn straight, get over it it's done and dusted.

On an unrelated matter, anyone remember how Billy Bowden robbed us of the Ashes in 05? :p

I think that if Bucknor continues to umpire well he should continue to umpire. If not, then by all means he should be sacked.

Bucknor was all set to retire at the end of 2007:

Cricinfo said:
Steve Bucknor is targeting a century. He expressed his desire to officiate in a hundred Test matches before 2007, the year he plans to announce his retirement. In a report in AFP he said, "I have set a target of 2007 for myself and with the speed of Test matches I am doing I hope to complete the century before retiring.

He continued, "I have to work hard to keep myself fit and to meet the demands of umpiring in the high-profile game of cricket and it would be a great honour to complete [a] century of Tests as umpire." After the Lahore Test, Bucknor's score stood at 89. Considering his fairly poor run off late, he could be in for some nervous nineties."

Yet he's still around for some reason.
