2025 ICC Champions Trophy - General Discussions

I would love to see ICC champions trophy in Pakistan without India and it turns out to be a successful tournament, even the money earned from it will be lesser than India playing in it, but hope the tournament will be a fight back against monopoly.

Truth is well know-proxy wars on both sides- load of tosh! This discussion would go sideways and hence there aint any point in deliberating this further.
Yeah cause you’re a propagandised fool.

Imagine thinking "My government would never do that, it’s only the rest of the world who does that" in 2024

The Indian govt/BCCI is well within its right to invite whichever celebrity it wants. Please don't be that dumb.
Poor martyrs are forgetten when it’s time to sing and dance at Modi stadium

@CerealKiller dude, you are taking it too far! As for the celebrations at the Ahmedabad stadium, what do you expect they should have done? If I recall correctly, during the historic 2004 series, Pakistan too had a joyous environment. If the game is going ahead, you can't bring in martyrs into the idst, can you? Same thing happened in Centurion in 2003 as well.

I get you are hurting cause India doesn't want to come, but then what's stopping the PCB from pressing its demand- go ahead with the CT without India. They aren't willing to do that. Why press for Indian participation at all cost?

I haven't done that. Perhaps the statement applies to you as well. As I said earlier, this thread is more to do with the actual CT discussion, but if you w at to make it political, continue by all means.

According to Osman Samiuddin, the PCB held a presentation about the trophy tour and venue upgrades at the ICC board meeting in mid-October. The BCCI didn’t raise any objections to travelling to Pakistan at that meeting.
Moreover, the working group within the board that drew up the 2024-2031 hosting rights in 2021 was headed by Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI chairman, while Jay Shah was already BCCI secretary back then.

The most rational thing for the PCB to do

- receive the usual hosting fee, plus have ICC reimburse them for the stadium renovations
- agree to the hybrid model
- forfeit all matches not played in Pakistan
- never travel to India, and forfeit all matches vs India in ICC events

Dunno if the last one is rational, but forfeiting the match vs India would certainly make a statement.

At some point they have to stop trying to accommodate bullying.
If the BCCI wants to thump its chest, go ahead, but without any help

Point #2 & Point#3 seem quite contradictory. Rational,yes.

Last point- it might mean Pakistan will lose points vs India in those games.

If they are to play in a hybrid format- the ICC can allow India the benefit of playing outside. However, if India were to reach the final, then both ICC & PCB need to put their foot down and say the final takes place in Lahore.

Not really, it would just allow India to play in the UAE, while sticking with the principle of Pakistan not playing outside home.
