Story (05)A coach,2005 and beyond

The collapse and the injury to Smith hasn't helped you at all but you are still in a goood position after bowling NZ out for a decent score. You are still in control of the match, I feel. Good presentation mate

Third Day:

Ntini and Terbrugge came back out after surviving last night.
They both continuesly played and missed before finally Oram ended the innings at 380.

Makhaya Ntini, bowled Oram for 13 runs off 22 deliveries with 2 fours.
David Terbrugge, not out for 7 runs off 19 deliveries with 1 four.

Fleming was again joined by Papps to open.
They started off much better with Fleming looking extremely confident and Papps looking hard to remove.
A play and miss was the only chance for the first little bit until Steyn shot in a super yorker to bowl Fleming!1-38.

Stephen Fleming, bowled Steyn for 23 runs off 30 deliveries with 4 fours.
Micheal Papps, not out for 14 off 26 deliveries with 3 fours.

McMillian joined Papps and they cruised along to 51 when Terbrugge was brought into the attack.
A play and miss first ball had them under lights.
the next ball was flicked for a single and then Terbrugge struck, removing the annoying(at this point.) Papps.2-51.

Micheal Papps, bowled Terbrugge for 20 runs off 41 deliveries with 3 fours.
Craig McMillian, not out for 6 runs off 17 deliveries with 1 four.

Oram was a important wicket, but lunch snuck up on us and Oram and McMillian stayed there.
The only sign of life on the pitch was a ball that jagged back in to Oram and took the inside edge though past the stumps.
At this point the pitch seems to be starting to break up,and it's only day 3!!!
After lunch Pollock was brought into the attack and he immediantly took a stuning return catch to remove McMillian.3-77.

Craig McMillian, caught&bowled Pollock for 17 runs off 33 deliveries with 3 fours.
Jacob Oram, not out for 13 runs off 29 deliveries with 1 four.

With Sinclair coming to the crease the field was spread more and A sharp delivery from Terbrugge soon had him walking back.4-93.

Matthew Sinclair, caught Sub(Boje) bowled Terbrugge for 2 runs off 16 deliveries.
Jacob Oram, not out for 26 runs off 56 deliveries with 3 fours.

Astle came.
Oram and Astle both dug themselves in and enjoyed the pitch while it was still fairly good.
A smashing shot by Oram over Terbrugge's head started an avalanche of runs off Terbrugge, forcing him to be taken off the attack.
Kallis and Klusener were bowling well when Oram knicked one!!!

But it was wide of the solitary slip in.
Oram capitalised and got his first milestone.

Jacob Oram,50* off 93 deliveries.

He then celebrated with a six!!!
Astle started to play shots too and they easily brought NZ to tea.
He then came out after tea and shot his fifty.

Nathan Astle,50* off 76 deliveries.

Soon after that they brought up the hundred parternership, but the rescue effort was broken soon after at 5-199.

Nathan Astle, caught Gibbs bowled Ntini for 55 runs off 86 deliveries with 8 fours.
Jacob Oram, not out for 74 runs off 130 deliveries with 8 fours and 1 six.

And just when it was needed too!
Fulton replaces Astle to help the dangerous Oram, but Ntini puts him to rest too in exactly the same way.6-199.

Peter Fulton, caught Gibbs bowled Ntini for 0 runs off 1 delivery.
Jacob Oram, not out for 74 runs off 130 deliveries with 8 fours and 1 six.

McCullem survived the hattrick ball and they pushed on.
Oram banged a few more balls until Oram finally fell by A Klusener inswinger.7-240.

Jacob Oram, bowled Klusener for 97 runs off 183 deliveries with 9 fours and 1 six.
Brendan McCullum, not out for 17 runs off 49 deliveries with 2 fours.

Franklin joined McCullum.
Terbrugge was bowling well and removed Franklin.8-251.

James Franklin, bowled Terbrugge for 3 runs off 19 deliveries.
Brendan McCullum, not out for 25 runs off 61 deliveries with 4 fours.

Terbrugge then put paid to Gillespie just 2 balls later.9-251.

Mark Gillespie,bowled Terbrugge(again!!!) for 0 runs off 2 deliveries.
Brendan McCullum, not out for 25 runs off 61 deliveries with 4 fours.

It doesn't last!
O'Brien and McCullum put them through to the end of play.

Brendan McCullum, not out for 34 runs off 83 deliveries with 5 fours.
Ian O'Brien, not out for 5 runs off 10 deliveries with 1 four.

An exciting day's play with the last few wickets keeping South Africa the strong initiative.
That's all for now!:)

Fourth Day:

McCullum and O'Brien took up strike next morning, with a beautiful day ahead of them.
With quite a few play and misses by O'Brien through the early morning, about half an hour into the day's play,Terbrugge yorked O'Brien and bowled him to finally finish the innings.

Ian O'Brien, bowled Terbrugge for 7 runs off 31 deliveries with 1 four.
Brendan McCullum, not out for 38 runs off 102 deliveries with 6 fours.

Lance Klusener ,17 overs,4 maidens,52 runs,1 wickets at 3.06 an over and 52 per wicket.
Jaques Kallis ,7 overs,0 maidens,21 runs,0 wickets at 3.00 an over.

They came out to calmly finish off the target of 161.
With Gibbs and Amla opening they needed to find some momentum.
Unfortunantly the luck didn't shine their way.1-3.

Herschelle Gibbs, caught McCullum bowled Gillespie for 2 runs off 12 deliveries.
Hashim Amla, not out for 1 run off 7 deliveries.

Kallis came out and decided attack was the better option.
It worked to dig themselves out but then Oram rallied the troops with an important wicket.2-33.

Jaques Kallis, bowled Oram for 24 runs off 32 deliveries with 4 fours.
Hashim Amla, not out for 7 runs off 35 deliveries.

McKenzie started slowly but just before lunch he smashed a massive straight slog for SIX!!!!
Amla finally fell to such a slow performance when he tried to hit out after lunch.3-65

Hashim Amla, caught McCullum bowled Gillespie for 19 runs off 76 deliveries with 1 four.
Neil McKenzie, not out for 20 runs off 29 deliveries with 1 six.

A horrible performance continues as De Villiers doesn't last long either.
This is just like the first innings, how horrible!!!:((Only McKenzie hanging on.)4-85

A.B.De Villiers,caught Sinclair bowled O'Brien for 7 runs off 19 deliveries.
Neil McKenzie, not out for 32 runs off 54 deliveries with 2 fours and 1 six.

Just 76 required to win with Klusener coming out.
The two players continue on and McKenzie has finally got a parterner that doesn't fall after a little while.

Neil McKenzie,50* off 107 balls.

With Klusener playing well, the tea break successfully reached and just 14 more runs needed for victory,McKenzie played a loose stroke to end a very solid innings from him.5-147

Neil McKenzie, bowled O'Brien for 56 runs off 122 deliveries with 3 fours and 1 six.
Lance Klusener, not out for 36 runs off 68 deliveries with 3 fours.

And Polly and Lance lead us home!!!
No late order collapse this time,a solid 5 wicket win!

Man Of The Match:

A good knock by Gibbs to give the Saffers the win. Good update mate. Keep up the good work :happy

Great result for you mate, after your great first innings score, you were definitely on top. Hopefully your winning form can be in all the matches you play. ;)

Good presenation, bladescape. Perhaps try and bold or italic the wickets to give them more of an importance over the events. Just a thought mate, but good work.

Yeah. Tis a great story, Sir. Just like Jaz said bolding parts to make them stick out could improve it.

Keep up the good work!

Squad for the Second Test:

H Gibbs
N McKenzie
H Amla
J Kallis
JP Duminy
AB De Villiers
L Klusener
S Pollock
D Steyn
M Ntini
D Terbrugge

Nice squad there, bladescape. Would of liked a little paragraph on the decisions you took to make the team and whether there were any hard choices, with people being left out. Nice to see the squad regardless and looking forward to the Second Test.

Good luck mate.

I wasn't feeling perticularly enthusiastic that time,so I just posted it.
Sorry.

First Day:

Despite losing last match,Fleming still went ahead with sending us into field again.
Papps was stodgy and Fleming subdued, but they somehow managed to survive Steyn and Ntini without so much as a chance!
The innings was beginning to take a very useful start when Terbrugge broke the spell with a short of a length ball that Papps chopped back on.1-45.

Micheal Papps, bowled Terbrugge for 8 runs from 48 deliveries.
Stephen Fleming, not out for 27 runs from 41 deliveries with 4 fours.

It suddenly changed the complextion of the game with the New Zealanders suddenly finding themselves unable to play the fluant strokes that Fleming was churning out.
It wasn't long until McMillian decided that this just wasn't working and he tryed to smash one back over Pollocks head.
It only found his hands.2-48.

Craig McMillian, caught & bowled Pollock for 1 run from 10 deliveries.
Stephen Fleming, not out for 29 runs from 50 deliveries with 4 fours.

The strokes suddenly flowed again with Oram striking out.
Fleming suddenly played shots with confidence and quickly reached 50.

Stephen Fleming,50* from 87 deliveries.

They saw NZ through to lunch.
The next target acheived was the 100 mark and a 50 parternership.
Fleming was being a pain again and Oram wasn't being easy to get out.
Finally Kallis was called on and like magic Fleming suddenly played a false stroke and got caught at short leg.3-107.

Stephen Fleming, caught Gibbs bowled Kallis for 64 runs from 106 deliveries with 11 fours.
Jacob Oram, not out for 22 runs from 31 deliveries with 3 fours.

Sinclair came in and runs didn't flow from his bat ala Oram and Fleming.
Kallis didn't waste much time before he removed Sinclair as well.4-125.

Matthew Sinclair, lbw Kallis for 9 runs from 27 deliveries with 1 four.
Jacob Oram, not out for 30 runs from 54 deliveries with 4 fours.

Jacob Oram didn't fuss from there.
He had Astle with him and they both pushed forwards to reach Oram's 50.

Jacob Oram,50* from 90 deliveries.

The next target was a half century parternership.
Astle was steady, but Ntini out foxed him.
Ntini went wider of the crease and zipped a yorker straight through the batsmans defences.5-187.

Nathan Astle, bowled Ntini for 27 runs from 46 deliveries with 3 fours.
Jacob Oram, not out for 65 runs form 105 deliveries with 8 fours.

The next objective for NZ seemed to be getting to the tea break as Oram and the new batsman,Fulton, started slowing down.
Steyn almost got Oram as he was put down on 71 by Kallis, but he motored on as though nothing had happened.
The fifty parternership came up soon after that with Oram yet again in the lead.
Yet again though,SA struck the other end.
Fulton prodding tentatively at one and knicked it to the keeper from Pollock to dissolve yet another promising start.6-245.

Peter Fulton, caught De Villiers bowled Pollock for 28 runs from 65 deliveries with 3 fours.
Jacob Oram, not out for 95 runs from 145 deliveries with 12 fours.

Oram wasn't much bothered as McCullum came in and just kept up his rate.
It wasn't long before he had his helmet off and was saluting the crowd to celebrate a fine 100.

Jacob Oram,100* from 150 deliveries.

But even then, down the other end McCullum struggled with the new ball and Klusener wrapped up his innings.7-281.

Brendan McCullum, bowled Klusener for 18 runs from 45 deliveries with 2 four.
Jacob Oram, not out for 113 runs from 176 deliveries with 14 fours.

Franklin survived with Oram to give New Zealand dominence on day one.
Near the end I actually broke note board in frustration at Oram.
He was getting back at SA for the first test loss.
I'm hoping for a turn around tomorrow.

bladescape added 3 Minutes and 55 Seconds later...

Is that better?(i.e. the bold wickets and milestones.)
