19th Match, Group F: West Indies v India at Bridgetown

Told you lot the IPL would ruin Indian cricket but no one listened, because Modi was such a hero and going to breed a new generation of Indian superstars :sarcasm Think we can safely say that has totally failed. Indian cricket needs a total overhaul, if they carry on like this, they are just going to end up as the same sort of strength as someone like Pakistan or West Indies. Better then minnow's but not much else.

Yep. These players are spoilt and dont know how to fight.

Sachin Tendulkar anyone?

I know it's not a long term solution, but hey, we're in desperate needs.

Even Sachin would be embarrassed to play in this team =/

India first need good team selection. Robin Uttapa wasn't picked was a howler. Dinesh Karthik barely got a game. And Jadeja is crap.

I reckon the IPl breeds new Indian superstars who will be able to whack everyone around on flat sub-contintnal pitches. But bouncy pitches in different continents? That's a different story. :facepalm

I don't see why Uthappa wasn't called up and Vijay was. IMO Vijay only got called up on the back on one good innings against RR. Uthappa was constantly hitting them out of the park. Also I don't see why Rohit and Gambhir could have opened like in England last year so that we could have Uthappa in the side, but noooo, we have to have the specialist opener. IIRC, Uthappa didn't seem completely hapless against the short ball either.

We will make sure we schedule games at countries where the pitches are not as bouncy and pacy as it was at Barbados. We will remain close to the top because of our financial power, but we will continue to see performances like this in big events unless we decide to concentrate on the proper goal.

My all predictions are coming true... tbh it was predictable.

In the End Jadeja lost us both games with his expensive bowling. Our Batting sucks and our bowling was always rubbish. Some hilarious decisions by captain- Vijay still in the team just for his 48 against Afghanistan. I'll prefer Karthik instead. Including Jadeja was the worst decision I have ever seen from Dhoni. They haven't learnt anything from prev T20 WC, did they?

Nah! not at all. They are committing same mistakes again and again.

Maybe the BCCI should arrange it so that India never play outside of India. At least then you guys can win everything :p

Including just 3 frontline bowlers with 2 pacers? what the hell they were thinking? They haven't learnt anything from prev T20 WC, did they?

Dhoni deserves to be dropped for his blunders in both editions of the T20 WC.

We missed a 3rd pacer IMO.

This.

Only one between Jadeja and Pathan should play imo. Jadeja is neither a great hitter down the order nor is he in good bowling rhythm.

But well done to WI, they were crap against SL but today they were fantastic in the field and good thing that Gayle fired at the right time. The only negative was that they gave away too many wides.

Last year, i read in Some Cricket Magazine that Condition of Indian Team due to IPL will be same that of England Soccer Team Due to EPL. They will perform better for their clubs :(

Why not Sachin ? A great player in all formats. :clap

I think for the 2007 edition, the seniors like Sachin, Dravid and Ganguly were arm twisted to pull out of the format so that the youngsters could play. And I guess they are not willing to come back into the T20 team because of that reason. Or else, why would Sachin not play a tournament thats only a few weeks long. Anyways he will be rested for tours against Zimbabwe, etc.

SaiSrini added 1 Minutes and 2 Seconds later...

Jadeja should never play a T20 match again for India. And probably I wont have him in the ODI's too because in this age of big hitting, he is a misfit and he also cant get the strike rotating as easily as some of the other classical players.

Trust me, India wont care even if they are banned from international cricket. Its how much heavy they have got for their boots. The money comes in very easily if you just turn up for some franchise team owned by a Bollywood star or a liquor baron. Playing for the country means almost nothing for this bunch of people. The board will be giving a closer look at the TV revenues generated by these games rather than the performance of our lousy players.

I give up my support for Murali Vijay. If you cant handle short balls, what technique do you have? If you bowl it to him at that spot where he can hit those leg side sixes, he can prosper. But the opposition are not out there for charity. Indian cricket is heading for some very troubled times. The Indians fielded like tigers in the IPL (even Ganguly throws him around like a kid) but when it comes to international cricket......?????

Murali Vijay? Wow. The guy actually timed that shot really well, just straight to the fielder. If you're judging Vijay's technique this harshly, then Raina, Rohit Sharma, Yusuf should be forced to stop playing cricket.

India's domestic system is to blame - the IPL has just made it worse. The pitches are horrendously flat. I support Karnataka, and I'm not a big Robin Uthappa fan - because Karnataka play on seamer-friendly pitches with extra bounce, due to Vinay and Mithun being very good bowlers at the domestic level, and Uthappa was the worst of the Karnataka batsman. Couldn't play the ball when it was moving, or if he was bounced. However in the IPL, he played superbly...quite opposite to how he played in the domestic league.

Hopefully Vinay and Umesh get a run out in the next game. Someone was complaining about Umesh's IPL average? Well, to be fair to him, he was only inaccurate in one match. He bowled very well in the rest of them, had a lot of edges flying over the place, and bowled the yorker consistently. Let's see how he goes before anyone says his inclusion is too early. He also plays for a smaller team Vidarbha, so I reckon he'll be hungry to prove himself to the selectors.
