19th Match, Group F: West Indies v India at Bridgetown

I think we lost today purely because of the selection of some rubbish players who have developed some sort of a complacency over the years by playing in multi-million dollar tournaments and are the least interested in bettering their techniques and all. Indian cricket doesn't really need a radical change or an overhaul or stuff. We just need kick out the non-performers and select proper players for proper games.

Hopefully, this Jadeja love I've seen in some parts of this forum will now disappear. He's failure personified.

I am just sick you bringing the IPL/Lalit Modi/and BCCI into every single argument. You suggested that Indian cricket needed an overhaul, would soon become like Pakistan or WI when we are clearly a cricketing stronghold in formats that matter most (I don't even watch the WT20).

Not really, the IPL and Lalit Modi (same thing really) are basically behind India's demise in the short format of the game and yes, in 20/20 India are currently one of the worse teams going around.

I still think Indian cricket needs some sort of overhaul, you guys just camp in the sub-continet and bash away on flat tracks as many other members have pointed out (but you seem to want to pick a fight specifically with me (I suggest you get over yourself tbh))

If you don't even watch 20/20 or care about it, why are you in this thread throwing a tantrum, surely this doesn't matter to you in the slightest?

Also no reply on why you randomly decided to slag off the English team or should I just put that down to teenage hormones?

A single good innings from Vijay can't make him a big player.:)

So are india out or not then?

Almost out, unless Australia thrash Sri Lanka, Australia beat West Indies by a good margin, and India thrash Sri Lanka. Not very likely. If Sri Lanka beat Australia, we are out today itself because the Australia-WI match will then become a knockout.

The problem with guys like Gambhir and Sehwag is that, they have all the time to leave the short balls in test or ODI cricket and they dont need to take ungainly risks. So they play such balls better in that format. But in T20, they are forced to go after the bowling and keep the scoring rate high enough. So Gambhir played the short balls very poorly in both games. Gambhir has a serious problem. He is so vulnerable to run outs (doesnt put in the dive, doesnt ground his bat properly), cant bat well if his opening partner is not Virender Sehwag, etc. How can we live around with a guy like this? Its like "Give him this, this and this and I will play well for you".
Sehwag doesn't struggle against short balls in T20 though. He has his ways of getting out of that. He has that Sachin like uppercut over the keepers and recently I've seen him move slightly wide of the wicket and cut the rising ball instead of pulling it.

Ok, Rohit, just you then considering everyone else has agreed with what I said. But then again if anyone puts a slight on India you take it as a personal insult. India were pretty poor throughout this tournament and if you are totally unbias India have built their way to number 1 in test cricket by barely playing outside the sub-continent in recent years. Anyway who is going on about test cricket here, this is the 20/20 world cup or did your eyes cloud over and forget where you were when you saw India come under attack? :sarcasm

India have been rubbish in 20/20 World Cup's since the first one and ironically enough that coincides with the beginning of the IPL.

Classic Rohit though slagging off England when they weren't even mentioned. Nice to see such responsible, mature moderator's these days who can keep to the topic's discussion.....

Still, you are reading too much into this. Twenty20 cricket isn't our strongest suit but you're making this failure seem as though it's the end of the world. We're still a very competitive ODI and Test unit. T20 cricket is just unpredictable. You can lose the game in one or two overs, even with the best line up in the world (not saying we have the best line up).

Besides, Sehwag and Tendulkar add a lot more substance and maturity to the ODI line up and have a calming influence on Raina and Kohli. There's just not enough experience and maturity in the T20 line up (Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Yusuf Pathan).

Also, the squad selection was okay but it was the selection of the XI that hurt us. We played way too many spinners (Harbhajan Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina and in one match we even had Piyush Chawla). MS Dhoni also plays way too low down the order. He's so brutal and can clear the fence with ease. I think he leaves himself with too much to do at times.

And just to lighten the atmosphere a bit...

If Sri Lanka win the next match, India will be out even before they go into their last game. If Australia win, India will stay alive, but will have to beat Sri Lanka on Tuesday and then hope that Australia beat West Indies, and also hope that their run-rate is ahead of WI's. And West Indies, by the way, will be playing the second game

Technically, we still have a chance of making it to the semis. Lawl! :p

Sehwag doesn't struggle against short balls in T20 though. He has his ways of getting out of that. He has that Sachin like uppercut over the keepers and recently I've seen him move slightly wide of the wicket and cut the rising ball instead of pulling it.

But Sehwag has this problem of playing ugly looking strokes when he tries to force the pace. He is at his most dangerous when he is let to play his own game. But when he has to force the pace and play at a pace more than comfortable for him, he fails most often.

India will not be able to win the next match too if the conditions are same.
Jadeja
Yuvi
Vijay.
