That's only if it's been grounded then bounced up. Tremlett didn't even ground his bat. Pathetic running really, he didn't even try.
Made no sense running, then again England have made little sense in recent days.
I mean quack, quack - oops! That sums up England picking Prior as their "pinch hitting" opener. They've gone in with four frontline bowlers so opted to bat first?!?!? Unless they're kidding themselves Mr 3.6 overs per ODI Wright is an all-rounder, or perhaps they're just HOPING that Collingwood and Wright between them can muddle through 10 overs and noone else will be expensive
It's harsh to be crtical of the top scorer who made over 50 runs more than anyone else, but his innings showed no acceleration and their didn't seem to be a plan. They took the power play because they had no choice, while Trott and Wright were batting together might have been the best time.
Fair play to Wright for making a few runs, albeit when he could play normal cricket without much chance of blame - six down, overs in hand so 'rebuilding the innings' is generally deemed acceptable.
Trott & Wright
28th over - 0 runs off 2 balls
29th over - 1 run off 6 balls
30th over - 3 runs off 6 balls
31st over - 3 runs off 6 balls
32nd over - 5 runs off 6 balls
33rd over - 9 runs off 6 balls
34th over - 1 run off 6 balls
35th over - 3 runs off 6 balls
36th over - 4 runs off 6 balls
37th over - 7 runs off 6 balls
38th over - 3 runs off 6 balls
39th over - 2 runs off 6 balls
40th over - 4 runs off 6 balls
41st over - 4 runs off 3 balls - Wright out
49 runs off 77 balls at 3.8 rpo might not sound too bad, but 1/3 of those runs (7+9) came off two overs and Trott was well set yet how often did he find the boundary? A spattering of boundaries could have easily maintained a run rate nearer what would have set a decent total. With only four frontline bowlers, and Yardy being one of those, England not only have to defend a below par total but do it with limited bowling.
3-0 aussies, what a daft idea playing 7 ODIs.
