4th ODI: Australia v England at Adelaide

The Bell wicket was good enough. He did get some drift and drop on the ball, so there were a few balls that could beat the batsman regardless of whether he bowled a tight over, but throughout the series, there's been a tendency for the batsmen to perhaps switch off a touch against what they regard as a weak bowler. There have been poorly chosen shots, but also several that were just terribly executed.

On a more serious note,i think that Smith's success this series is proof positive that England have switched off now the Ashes is done and dusted, they just look jaded

Bowling wise this team is quite good, Ponting certainly wouldn't mind having 2 part time spinners on offer. Smith + Doherty/Hauritz in the middle overs and then bring Dussey on at the death when the batsmen are trying to go after him.

Also good ball by Dussey to get some turn, not the best shot by Trott though.

Lee starting to get some reverse who says you can't do it with the reconditioned ball :p

The silly shots continue. Whatever they're doing, the bowling options are definitely working, but I'm left to wonder how well they go against a side that can really attack the spinners purposefully down the ground. Perhaps it is all in balance and such a side will be found to be weaker than England against the quicks. Some of the Australian seamers' ODI records against India certainly suggest this.

All guessing games until we get to play India. Although I don't think we will have these 3 spinners options come that time.

Lee really has struggled today, would be a brave call but maybe worth leaving Dussey on for a few more.

This score is looking similar to the first ODI, after Prior played the Davies role :/

That was an interesting and arguably successful ploy at the end. You usually wouldn't argue much of a case for the final over spinner, but if you've got a bowler who is most dangerous when the batsmen are in T20 mode, then it suddenly makes a lot of sense. As much as there were some unnecessary wickets earlier, it became necessary to score much faster and so his 2/18 off his last two overs was not so bad, considering Lee went for 20 and Bollinger 22 (though Watson managed a mere 10).

Yah I think Watson showed that if you actually bowled properly the fast bowler is still a better option for RIGHT at the end. Spinners can work well in overs 40-45, but for those last couple of overs giving away 6s can be a killer and that's the danger with spin.

Not good...

Australia had trouble reaching 230 in the last two tests. It was thanks to Marsh and D.Hussey.

Now with Anderson back in, it looks difficult.
