A Heart of Gold: A Pok?mon Story (Chewie v Iridium v Hedger)

Yeah, I use flags as well.

You could get on the country rankings on that site, they're different to the world rankings.

Win all three levels in 6-35-99 and you can be on this list.

Three people on the New Zealand list have a total of more than 100.

I could but I can't be bothered :p

I like collecting every single Pokemon :)

A Heart of Gold: A Pokemon Story ? Part 8

So I had made my way to Goldenrod City, and now it was time to explore for a while.

Goldenrod City

It was a big city, so I decided to check out the Department Store first. They say it?s the best place to shop in Johto. I decided to go through and find what there was around, and bought myself some supplies for the rest of my journey, including a few super potions since Hyper Potions were very expensive, a couple of full heals, a few great and ultra balls and I also found a vending machine at the top and grabbed myself a fair few lemonades which were cheap. There was also a guy who wanted to trade a Machop for a Drowsee, and remembering all the Drowsee?s I found earlier, I decided to go catch one. Before I left though, I entered the daily draw for a chance to win a prize. It cost me $300 and I won 2nd prize, a timer ball. I was pretty happy and got into the elevator although I noticed there was a basement floor so I decided to check that out first. I managed to find an ultra ball, a burn heal and an ether. I then left the store and caught myself a Drowsee, and traded it for the guys Machop. I didn?t like that the Machop?s name was Muscle but I?d live with it for the time being.

So after that, I left again and explored the city some more. I headed to the game corner next. The president gave me a Coin Case, and then taught me how to play the game. I finished the first four levels and got a big 2120 coins before I gave up. I found out that I was able to buy stuff with my coins and there were pokemon that I could choose from as well. I decided to buy a Dratini for 2100 coins. It was already level 15 which was good and it was going to be part of my party. I ended up taking Sandshrew out of my party and teaching Quilava cut, replacing Ember since it already knew Flame Wheel. I then went to the bicycle shop and the owner gave me a bicycle to help promote his bikes. I then had a ride around on it. I went to the Magnet Train Station yet but apparently wasn?t operational.

I then went to the Radio Tower and I started off by entering the lottery. The lottery number was 00113. I was congratulated after because my Togepi?s ID No. matched, the last digits matching and I got the ultra ball as a prize. I then saw a red headed girl called Whitney. She heard about a quiz to win a radio card. I found the lady handing out the quizzes and I took it. The questions were very easy and I passed it first time around and I got a Radio Card as a prize. Then Whitney told me that she was sure the answer was Apricots which was pretty sad, before she ran back to the gym. So she was the gym leader. I went up the stairs and talked to a lady named Buena who gave me the Blue Card, which I could get a password which would get me points which I could exchange for items. I got the password which was Paralyz Heal which got me one point and the other lady gave me a poke ball as a reward. I then left the tower. I wasn?t sure what to do next but I decided to check out the place a bit more, before taking on the gym.

Goldenrod Tunnel

I made my way into a building which was a tunnel of some sort. I saw a Marill come up the stairs as I walked in, and not surprisingly, it was Lyra and she went on about dressing up pokemon and gave me a Fashion Case as a present. I doubted I?d use it but I thanked her anyway and she left again. I walked down the stairs into what was known as Goldenrod Tunnel. There were trainers downstairs so I used them to train my few pokemon. There were also some shops around. The herbalist seemed to be selling things that made pokemon not so happy so I didn?t buy anything there but I spent $500 to give my Togepi a haircut, considering how nice I was. I finished off by beating the last two trainers before heading off, and healing my pokemon before going off to the gym.

Goldenrod City Gym

I walked into the gym and the guide told me that the trainers and gym leader all used normal-type pokemon, and he recommended to me that I should use fighting type pokemon, which was good since I had a Machop. I walked up the stairs and ran into a trainer pretty quickly, hoping to level up my Machop before the gym leader. Victoria was my first opponent.

Beauty Victoria

Victoria sent out a level 9 Sentret to start things off, while I sent out my Machop. Karate Chop killed the Sentret in one shot, earning Machop some valuable experience. His next pokemon was a level 13 Sentret. My Machop wasn?t very quick so Sentret started proceedings with Defence Curl, which ended up costing me the kill as Karate Chop left Sentret holding on by a thread. It ended up not really mattering though as Machop landed the finishing blow on Sentret and growing to level 13. His last pokemon was a level 16 Sentret which was going to be tough to beat with my Machop but I had the type advantage. Sentret started off with Fury Swipes, doing massive damage thanks to a critical hit. Machop used Karate Chop though and it was enough to kill him, and I won the battle.

Beauty Samantha

After healing my Machop, I continued on and ran into Samantha. She sent out a Meowth which was level 16 to start things off but again Machop was too strong, and after suffering a scratch, chopped down on Meowth hard, knocking it senseless. Samantha then sent out another Meowth, who decided to have a big slash at Machop, making good contact, which made Machop angry who came back with yet another Karate Chop, killing his other Meowth. I just gave Machop a potion this time though before continuing.

Lass Carrie

Carrie only had one pokemon but it was a level 17 Snubbull. It started things off by biting down on Machop but it quickly wriggled it off, not suffering much damage but coming back with another karate chop, doing a fair bit of damage on Snubbull. Snubbull then used Lick which was pretty insulting before Machop came back with a low kick, but it didn?t kill Snubbull. He finally finished things off with a Karate Chop though and Machop gained a fair bit of experience to grow to level 16.

Lass Cathy

I went back and healed my Machop again, before going onto my final trainer battle before the gym leader. I decided to give Quilava a battle, as she sent out a level 15 Jigglypuff. Quilava used Flame Wheel, killing Jigglypuff in one shot. She had another Jigglypuff which Quilava dispatched of easily again and grew to level 23. I then let Pidgeotto finish off the battle by facing her last Jigglypuff. Pidgeotto swirled up a gust, and attacked Jigglypuff first and did a fair amount of damage. That didn?t please Jigglypuff who pounded at Pidgeotto who couldn?t evade the attack. Pidgeotto finished things off soon after and I had defeated all the trainers in the gym and now it was time to face the gym leader.

Gym Leader Whitney

I didn?t really need to heal my pokemon so I went and faced Whitney straight away. It was going to be a tough battle. I started things off by sending out my Quilava, while she sent out a level 17 Clefairy. Quilava used Flame Wheel to start things off, doing a lot of damage. Clefairy responded by using Metronome, which ended up being Agility which only raised its speed. She used a super potion though, restoring all of Clefairy?s health but I took that damage back with another Flame Wheel. I wasn?t sure how much Clefairy?s speed would have increased by so I decided to play it safe and used quick attack, taking Clefairy out. She then sent out a Miltank, which was level 19, while I sent out my Machop to finish things off. It didn?t work though as Miltank used Stomp straight away, which was a critical hit and killed Machop, so I decided to send out Quilava again. Miltank?s stomp didn?t do much damage, and I countered it with Flame Wheel, although it didn?t do a huge amount of damage. It was going to be a close battle and I nearly killed Miltank with a third Flame Wheel but it was on red health. Not wanting to take the first attack on the next turn since it would kill my Quilava, I used Quick Attack, but Whitney used a Super potion, before Quilava could attack. I then used a super potion next turn. Miltank seemed content on using Stomp, but I needed to do something to shift the balance. I decided to use SmokeScreen to hopefully lower Miltank?s accuracy. Miltank missed its next 2 attacks as I used SmokeScreen relentlessly to completely drop Miltank?s accuracy. I ended up sacrificing my Quilava by using SmokeScreen until it died, and Miltank?s accuracy was completely lowered. I then sent out Dratini to finish things off. It used Dragon Rage doing it?s always 40 damage and after 2 attacks and Miltank missing both times, it was dead. She then started crying and called me a meanie. She wouldn?t even give me my badge. What a bitch! As I walked out, Cathy said that she?d stop crying soon so I went back up to Whitney who finally gave me my badge, plus TM45, which was the move, Attract. So now I had the third badge and was well on my way to becoming the Johto Champion. It was time to move on again, so I had a rest so I was fully ready to set out again.

btw, where should we go up to after Goldenrod City.

Maybe after the National Park, then up to Ecruteak City then the gym?

Not too sure. I dropped my ds the other day ><

Haven't been playing though. Might get an update this weekend though.

Trying to figure out my end team:

Feraligatr - Physical Water
Gengar - Special Ghost/Poison
Togekiss - Special Normal/Flying
Magnezone/Machamp Special Electric/Steel or Physical Fighting
Tyranitar - Physical Rock/Dark
Dragonite - Physical Dragon/Flying

Physical/Special means what type of moves they are more suited for

Thinking about Ambipom as well now. Just caught one.

----------

Well caught an Aipom which will evolve into Ambipom

----------

or a Heracross. Just caught one of them as well :D

Turns out the Aipom I caught had the wrong ability (pickup whereas I wanted run away). So I caught another one and it had the same ability >.<

Well I'm training all my pokemon up now since you's are fairly far behind now :p

So I won't have to worry about losing somewhere along the way :p

Just because you have heaps of spare time :P

Yea, sorry about not posting updates recently. Been so caught up trying to chase my ISP to fix my damn internet. Spent 2 hours on the phone today talking to people who don't give a damn and who I suspect have no brain. People in comas are more helpful than those bunch of halfwits.

I'll start on my update after I have some toast :D

You eat breakfast food at the weirdest times

A Heart of Gold: A Pokmon Story
Iridium - Part 8

A new morning dawned over Goldenrod City. A good nights sleep had done me the world of good and I was fresh and ready to continue my journey. Goldenrod City had a Gym but before facing the Leader, I thought I'd take a look around this wonderful city.

Goldenrod Department Store
Across from the Pokemon Centre was the Goldenrod Department Store. This was a biggest store in all of Johto, stocking many items that weren't normally available in an ordinary Poke Mart. I looked through the items on all six floors. There were Poke Balls, battle items, medicines and TMs. In the end, I stocked up on a few necessary supplies and a few Lemonades.

Goldenrod Game Corner
Just up from the department store was the Game Corner. Apparently, this place used to be full of slot machines but
recent law changes deemed gambling illegal. So they were all removed and a Voltorb Flip game was introduced instead. It was a bit like Minesweeper but not as easy. The man running the game gave me a Coin Case to hold the coin which I won. I played through a few levels of Voltorb Flip before I got bored and left.

Radio Tower
There was a promotion going on whereby answering five questions correctly would earn you a Radio Card for your PokeGear. I went and took the challenge. Whilst answering the five questions (which were extremely easy) I noticed a girl down the counter. After I had received my Radio Card she introduced herself as Whitney, the Goldenrod Gym Leader. She said she answered one of the questions wrong and that she would be at the gym if I wanted to battle her.

Upstairs, I free to roam around the studios. On the second floor, there was a DJ called Buena who did a show called Buena's Password. She would announce a password everyday and if you could tell her what it was, you won some points which you could use to redeem some prizes. She gave me a Blue Card to store my points and asked me to tune in.

Goldenrod City
After leaving the Radio Tower, I decided to look around some more but in doing so got lost. I ended up down a dead-end street and found that there was a bike shop set up. I walked in and the first thing that struck me was the lack of customers. The store owner called me over and proposed a rather novel idea. He asked whether I would mind riding around one of his bikes in order to advertise his store. I readily agreed to help his struggling business and was handed a shiny new Bicycle.

Goldenrod Tunnel
After finding my way back to the main street, I headed for the Gym. But thanks to my lack of direction, I got lost again. This time I came across the entrance to Goldenrod Tunnel.
When I entered, out popped a Marrill and following it was Lyra. We spoke for a few minutes before she gave me a Fashion Case. I wasn't quite sure what to do with so I put it in my bag, thanked her and contemplated putting it on eBay later on. Goldenrod Tunnel was an underground shopping district with a stored that sold herbs, one that gave Pokemon haircuts and one that sold rarities. Along with the stores were some trainers, which was a great opportunity to get my Pokemon match fit for my battle with Whitney.

The trainers were mostly nerds and self confessed Pokemon maniacs. They were by no means serious trainers but the battles gave my Pokemon a nice experience boost.

Goldenrod City Gym
Finally I found my way to the Gym.
When I entered, I was almost blinded by the ghastly pink floor and wallpaper. This was without a doubt a girl's Gym. The Gym was set up like a maze, with high walls filling the Gym. As I made my way around, I came across my first opponent.

Victoria, who I guessed was a model, started off with Sentret. I sent out Croconaw to dispatch her first Sentret. Geodude then took out the other two Sentret she sent out.

Samantha was next and she used two Meowth. Croconaw and Geodude took out one each which allowed me to get to Carrie who had a Snubbull. Geodude found little trouble in taking it out with a few Rock Smash attacks.

The last trainer was Cathy who had three Jigglypuff on her team. Croconaw and Geodude again ran through her team with ease. At last the path to Whitney was clear.

Whitney went on to say how she loved cute Pokemon which would explain her choice of interior design. Research prior to this battle said that Whitney specialised in Normal-type Pokemon. Geodude was the only Pokemon I had that knew a Fighting-type move, which was super effective. He would have a big part to play.

First up was Whitney's Clefairy. Geodude was sent out and I immediately called for Rock Smash. Clefairy took the full brunt of the attack but wasn't knocked out. However, this move backfired. Clefairy had somehow infatuated my Geodude. When I called for another Rock Smash, Geodude refused to attack for fear of hurting Clefairy. Clefairy was not so kind, using Metronome to hit my Geodude with random attacks. For a second, Geodude snapped out of his infatuation and I used the opportunity to call out an attack, which Geodude obeyed. The Rock Smash hit and Clefairy was out.

Next up was Whitney's main Pokemon, Miltank. Geodude attacked with Rock Smash to my horror the attack barely made Miltank flinch. Miltank struck back with Stomp which Geodude braced for. I had heard of Miltank using Rollout and was fully expecting it soon. But instead, Miltank used Attract which annoying, made Geodude fall in love again. This was not good. Whilst Geodude refused to attack, Miltank was hammering away at his health with Stomp. I quickly used a Super Potion and Whitney did the same. I called for Geodude to use Magnitude and amazingly, he obeyed. I noticed that Geodude would fall in and out of infatuation and had to time my attacks right.

Whitney's Miltank | F | Lvl 19

Geodude obeyed my request for Rock Smash and I noticed Miltank falter slightly. This was good as the attacks were taking a toll on its defence. Another Rock Smash wore it down some more before a final attack knocked it out. The spell had been broken, and I had won.

After the battle but I was expecting a hearty congratulations from Whitney. But instead she had turned on the waterworks and started to bawl her eyes out. This was all pretty awkward. One of the trainers I faced before came up and said that he always cries when she loses and that I would have to wait for her to stop. I sat down and waited for her to finish packing a sad.

After what seemed like ages, she finally stopped. I approached her and she noticed that she had forgotten to give me the badge for winning. I was handed the Plain Badge:

Along with the badge, Whitney also gave me TM45 (Attract). This move was a right pain in the neck for me during the battle. Least I had the option now to inflict the same frustration on someone else.

My Pokemon were coming along nicely and I now had three badges. Things were going well.
