A Heart of Gold: A Pok?mon Story (Chewie v Iridium v Hedger)

I was just playing for 5 or ten minutes at a time. Doesn't take long to rack up the points.

Has anyone beat lvl 6? I've got up to lvl 6 once, but never passed it.

I got up to level 5, I think. I may go waste some time playing it tonight, since I've already finished my hw and still 30 minutes to go until survivor.

A Heart of Gold - Part 8

Goldenrod City
This city is huge. That's the best way to describe it. There are what seem like thousands of buildings, full of life. A whole multitude of places to explore. After healing up my Pokemon, my first port of call was the Game Corner. Inside was a game known as Voltorb Flip where you rack up coins through a multiplier. It was highly addictive, and I can see why my mum always told me not to gamble. Nevertheless I spent a lot of time here and managed to earn over 5000 coins. With these winnings I bought two Pokemon - Dratini and Ekans. My previous searching for Abra was really all a waste, as I could have just bought one for 200 coins.

Next, I checked out the huge department store across the road. This had heaps of stories full of different Pokemon-related products. I didn't really need any of them so I just had a browse around the store. There were some nice drinks on the top level which I bought for the road. There was also this raffle thing as well, which cost $300 and you could win a number of different prizes. I decided to go for it, but unfortunately I got the number 3 prize - a Pecha Berry. Finally, on the fifth floor there was a guy who wanted to trade his Machop for a Drowzee. I conveniently had one so I completed the trade

On the way back down I took the elevator and decided to check out the basement floor - one that I hadn't been able to reach through the escalators. Down here were a number of items blocked by crates. Luckily there were some Machokes down here who were able to move the boxes and allow me access to them.

Running around the city I found a number of interesting landmarks. There was the train station that takes people to Kanto, however it wasn't operational when I visited. There was also the Global Terminal which is supposed to let me contact people around the world. The Gym was up here, but I wasn't able to enter since Whitney wasn't there. There were some other gimmick-y buildings like the Name Rater but finally in the top half of the city I came across the Radio Tower. Inside here I participated in the daily free draw but didn't win anything. In here I came across Whitney who was struggling to complete the quiz to win a free radio card. I decided to see if I was smarter than a Gym Leader so I took the test. The questions were pretty easy, and I nabbed myself a radio card to listen to the radio on! Whitney was pretty annoyed, but decided to head back to the gym. I wasn't finished looking around the city however.

In a very obscure part of the city I found a bike seller. He didn't seem to be doing too well and asked me if I could ride a bike to advertise for him. I was pleased to, I mean it's a free bike and all! So I now had a faster way to travel through Johto. The last place to go was the Goldenrod Tunnel so I made my way to the entrance.

Goldenrod Tunnel
Upon entering the tunnel I spotted a Marill. This could only mean one thing, as I soon saw Lyra come up the stairs as well. She told me about the Dress-Up Shop and gave me the Fashion Case so that if I ever felt the urge to dress up my Pokemon I could. Down in the tunnel there were a number of trainers to battle, however their Pokemon were pretty low leveled and Dratini used them as good practice. There were a number of shops down here as well, depending on the day of visit. One guy offered to give my Pokemon a haircut but I didn't have too much money left so I declined. There were also a couple of shops that sold items. After spending a while down here I felt I was finally ready for the Pokemon Gym and so I healed up and headed for my next challenge.

Goldenrod Gym
The Trainers in this gym were all girls and used 'cute' normal-type Pokemon. Dratini was able to one-shot all the Pokemon of the first and second trainer, however she fainted facing the third trainer's Snubbull. This didn't really matter much as Croconaw took over and wasted it, and the last trainer's Pokemon. I was finally up to Whitney, and after healing up at the Pokemon Centre I challenged her for a badge.

Her first Pokemon was a level 17 Clefairy. I sent out Dratini and almost killed it with one hit. She tried to use Metronome, which resulted in Crabhammer, a one-hit KO move, but it failed thankfully. Despite Whitney using a super potion, Dratini was easily able to defeat the Clefairy. The next and final Pokemon was a level 19 Miltank. Dratini took care of this as well with two shots of Dragon Rage, resulting in a very very easy Gym badge. Whitney was very unhappy that she had lost however and wouldn't stop crying to my bemusement. One of the trainers in the gym told me that this happens all the time, so I talked to her again when she had calmed down, and she gave me the Plain badge and TM45 - Attract. I was well on my way to Pokemon League now, and looking forward to the challenges ahead of me.

A Heart of Gold: A Pokemon Story ? Part 10

I was ready to get my fourth badge, after having reached Ecruteak City, and I was fully ready.

Ecruteak City

I had reached Ecruteak City and the first thing I decided to do was heal my pokemon. A guy named Bill talked to me about the PC, and a girl named Lanette in Hoenn who helped with the PC and all that stuff, I wasn?t really listening much but he finally ran off, back to Goldenrod City where he lived. Maybe I?d check out his place later. I healed my pokemon and when I opened up my PC, the name of the pokemon storage system had changed to ?Bills PC?. I then left, unsure what to do next. I went inside the house next to the Pokemon Center, where someone was sitting down inside. I talked to them and he said something about me being on an adventure and he asked if he was right, or was he right. Yeah, pretty random but I said yes and he gave me the Dowsing Machine. I decided that I?d check out the dance theater next. There was a guy in a Team Rocket uniform harassing a Kimono Girl who was dancing so I decided to stop him. He sent out a very weak Koffing though which was no match for Quilava who defeated him with ease. He then quickly ran off and I decided to leave as well, but the guy in the audience stopped me and said I was courageous for what I did and decided to give me the HM03 which contained Surf. I thanked him for his generosity and then left. I decided that I?d go back and give mum a visit before I faced the gym leader, but I decided to take a trip down to Goldenrod City on my way.

Goldenrod City

It was a short trip to Goldenrod City. I tried to find Bill?s house but I wasn?t sure which one it was and he hadn?t given me his address, but I did find his house eventually. He told me to do something for him and take his Eevee. It was level 5, but I didn?t mind and I planned on training it up. I decided that I wanted to evolve it into an Espeon, which I heard was by making it happy during the daytime so I decided to give it the Soothe Bell, an item which increased a pokemon?s friendliness. I then decided to walk with it, deciding to go back up near Ecruteak City, so I could quickly cut across to Violet City and back down to home.

New Bark Town

I used the opportunity to walk with Eevee, as I made my way back home. Mum was happy to see me as usual, but it seemed like not much had changed around New Bark Town, so I only stayed for a short time before setting off again, now deciding to try using the Dowsing Machine, while training my Eevee up.

Route 46

I decided to catch some more pokemon, and managed to catch a Spearow. There weren?t any hidden items though, but Eevee did grow to level 6.

Route 31

Again, I couldn?t find any items but I managed to catch a Metapod and a Spinarak. I then decided to swing by the Dark Cave, and managed to catch myself a Dunsparce.

Route 32

There wasn?t much again but I managed to catch a Rattata. I also decided to go for a little fish and caught a Magikarp. I stayed in Violet City until night time then and went and caught myself a Wooper, before resting for the night.

Ilex Forest

I decided to wait until night to go into the forest, and I managed to catch an Oddish and a Paras. I also managed to find a Full Heal, two TinyMushrooms, a repel, a super potion, an antidote and an Ether which were all hidden, using the Dowsing Machine. I also taught my Eevee headbutt, so I could get the pokemon out of the trees. I couldn?t find any new pokemon in the trees in Ilex Forest so I decided to go back to Azalea Town, and managed to catch an Aipom and a Heracross. Deciding to try headbutting a few more trees though in Ilex Forest though, I managed to catch myself a Pineco.

Route 34

I had decided to look for an Abra, which I had encountered earlier on this route but hadn?t managed to catch one and after a fair bit of time searching without success, I decided to take Eevee for a bike ride up and down Goldenrod City a number of times, since I wanted to make it very happy. I then went and battled with it for a little bit, and after growing to level 11, it evolved into Espeon. I decided to look for an Abra a little longer while training up Espeon. I finally came across an Abra and I threw an ultra ball at it, but just as it was about to stop, it came out. So close! I came across another one though and I decided to throw a nest ball at it, and surprisingly it worked. I then trained up my Espeon to level 15, so it learned Confusion. I then put my Espeon, along with Ditto in the daycare and after a while, the daycare man called me and told me that they had found an egg. What was Espeon getting up to with Ditto? I picked up my egg, as well as both pokemon, deposited my Ditto, and decided to leave out my Onix for the time being, and decided to keep the egg with me, before deciding to go back to Ecruteak City.

Burned Tower

I reached Ecruteak City, and the first thing I decided to do was go to gym but the gym leader was apparently at the Burned Tower, so that?s where I went. It was a pretty destroyed building but I continued on. There were a few new pokemon around, and I caught myself a Koffing, before a guy named Eusine talked to me, who seemed to be obsessed with Suicune and told me it was one of the pokemon below, but it would run away like it always did if he went down there. There was another guy standing next to him and I talked to him, and he introduced himself as the gym leader, Morty and told me that he was here with Eusine, who also went on about the 3 legendary pokemon, Entei, Raikou and Suicune. So it looked like he wasn?t going to fight me. Whatever! I continued over to the ladder but my rival was there and challenged me to a battle. He sent out a Gastly first, while I sent out Espeon. Espeon used Confusion and it was strong enough to kill Gastly in one shot, despite being 2 levels lower. He then sent out a Zubat, while I just stuck with Espeon, who again was too good for Zubat, killing it with Confusion. He sent out Croconaw then, and I decided to send out Pidgeotto. It was always going to be a tough battle with Croconaw knowing Ice Fang but he seemed to use Scary Face every time after hitting with Ice Fang once, meaning I won after a few turns. He sent out a Magnemite last so I just let my Quilava take care of it, and I had won the battle, and then he had a tantrum and ran off.

koffing.png

I decided to continue on past the ladder, and take on the trainers there as well. I found an antidote there as well. I decided to try find stuff with the Dowsing Machine, and I also found an Ether, before I decided to go down the ladder. As I walked over to the three pokemon, they all fled though, and Eusine came down the ladder asking me if I saw it, and again going on about Suicune, then saying he?s been chasing it for almost 10 years. Then he left and said that we?d meet again. There was nothing much else down here though, so I left, and this time I would face the gym leader.

Ecruteak City Gym

It was very foggy inside the gym, but I saw a light coming from one of the trainers. I heard the gym leader used ghost pokemon so I wasn?t going to use normal or fighting type moves. I came to the first trainer and he sent out a Gastly, while I sent out my Espeon. He actually had 6 Gastly?s so I just let Espeon rip through them. The guys lamp went out though and I didn?t know where to go. I just followed the next light but fell off the edge but I only went back to the start of the gym, and he had lighted up his lamp again so I continued onwards, and faced the second trainer. He sent out a Haunter to start off with and I hoped for the best and sent out Espeon. He used Confusion and it was a critical hit, as well as being super effective so it killed it. He then sent out another Haunter and Espeon was again too strong, killing it in one shot. The third trainer sent out a Haunter as well, although it was a couple of levels higher and he only had one pokemon. It attacked first this time though, with Sucker Punch which was super effective, but it didn?t kill Espeon, who took it out with Confusion. I healed my Espeon before continuing on. I ran into Martha, who started off by sending out a level 18 Gastly. Espeon?s confusion was too strong for it though, and Haunter was Espeon?s next opponent, but its fate was the same as Gastly?s. Espeon grew to level 23 and took out his final level 20 Gastly with ease, meaning I only had the gym leader to beat.

Gym Leader Morty

So I moved onto Morty, not really needing to heal my pokemon. After a short chat, the battle commenced and he sent out a Gastly straight away, while I sent out Espeon. Espeon used confusion, taking out Gastly straight away, which was a good start. He then sent out a Haunter, which was level 21, but again Espeon was too strong, with its confusion. He then decided to send out his best pokemon, a level 25 Gengar. I decided that keeping Espeon in was too risky, so I sent out Quilava instead. It attacked first though, but it didn?t do a huge amount of damage with Shadow Ball. Quilava then used Flame Wheel, doing just over 50% of damage, and also inflicting a burn, but it regained some health with its Sitrus Berry. It then used Mean Look, but it only aided in its downfall as one more Flame Wheel had Gengar out. I decided to finish things with Espeon, as he sent out a level 23 Haunter, but Espeon was slightly faster and took it out with Confusion, to grow to level 24. I got $2760 for winning. He gave me the Fog Badge for winning and also gave me the TM30, which contained Shadow Ball. So that was my fourth badge, and I was well on my way to becoming the Champion now. I wasn?t sure as to what to do next so I went and healed my pokemon and decided to take a rest in the city.

lol our Pokemon are so overleveled

Damn you managed to find a Dunsparce! I couldn't be bothered waiting out the 1% encounter rate.

Hmm should I tech Surf to Dratini or Croconaw :/

They're hidden in the rocks??? Annoying.

----------

oh wow they're 90% in the rocks >.<

Am I the only one without overleveled Pokemon?

And I would teach Surf to Croconaw so you get STAB.

Yes but Croconaw is primarily physical based - it would be much more efficient to teach him Aqua Tail instead.

----------

Re the overleveling, yes :p It's because I've been searching for all the Pokemon in a region

Yes but Croconaw is primarily physical based - it would be much more efficient to teach him Aqua Tail instead.

Very true. But Croconaw is the only Pokemon in my party that can learn Surf so I don't have much of a choice :p

FML. Bloody just dropped my DS and it froze, so now I've got to spend another hour going back over and doing what I just did.

Shame. I dropped mine before but it was perfectly fine :D

Well it hit the printer on the way down...

Oh well, now I'm doing it again. And I'm just turning the day to Friday so I can catch a Lapras cause I'm annoyed.

>.< I caught a lvl 13 Scyther and didn't place. First and third place were also Scythers while second place was a Caterpie?!?!?!??! wtf

----------

Dammit I retried and got a level 15 Beedrill and still didn't place. Scyther won, Beedrill second and Venonat third. Can't be bothered trying a third time.

Don't you just love critical hits. I've been looking for a Tauros for the last hour and I've managed to run into two but I've managed to have two critical hits which has killed it, which is so annoying.
