Story A Journey Down Under - First Innings Posted

because apparently a cricket background is necessary to
coach in New Zealand. Fortunately, Australians don’t think about these sorts of things being rather stupid and all

so true.:yes

hopefully your coaching brings shame to the mainland :D

Lol, nice update.
Like Riz I love the ending part about Aussies.
I hope you can take them to another title.

Jono who? :p They just pick anyone...

It's so irresponsible of them! I wonder how the fan base is treating this decision. Having a kiwi with no cricket experience coaching their county team in their domestic competitions... It's almost as bad as having an kiwi coaching their national rugby team! Oh wait... :p

Because of the presence of a New Zealand coach in the Australian Domestic Cricket Competition, the NZ TAB has decided to offer bets on the outcome
of the Sheffield Shield, the Ford Ranger One Day Cup and the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash competitions. This is a first for a New Zealand betting company
and it is hoped that it will attract a new market in the expatriate Australian community. They do not have very good knowledge of the Australian
Domestic Cricket Teams, and their odds are completely based on previous performances in the competitions, and not the strength of each teams'
squads.

Unfortunately the TAB are struggling financially due to putting odds of 10000-1 on the All Whites to win the Soccer World Cup, a feat which they
eventually accomplished and resulted in the TAB paying out numerous bets of over 1 million NZ$. This means that individuals will be restricted to
placing one bet on each competition, with a maximum bet of 10k for each competition. Bets are valid up to the beginning of the first match of the
competition.

Odds for each competition are as follows:
Sheffield Shield:
Victoria $2.50
Queensland $3
NSW $3.5
WA $4.5
Tasmania $5
SA $6

Ford Ranger One Day Cup:
Tasmania $3
Victoria $3
Queensland $3
SA $4
WA $5
NSW $6

KFC Twenty20 Big Bash:
Victoria $1.5
NSW $3
WA $3.5
Queensland $4
SA $4
Tasmania $4.5

As you can see above, bets are on for the teams who win the competitions. Rules are per in the news article, 1 bet each, and max of 10k per competition. I’m not sure whether I’ll end up with a surplus of vCash or lose heavily, but anything I have left over from this I will split between anyone who manages to get all three correct as a bonus. I'll continuously update who has bet what in this post. Betting closes before the start of the first match. The way I've done it is slightly different to what is used in vBookie. For example, Victoria are paying $2.50 to win the Sheffield Shield. This means that for every dollar you put in, you'll end up with $2.50 at the end, if Victoria win. You don't get your original bet back.

Bets so Far:
Sheffield Shield

I reckon the footer made me read this.
In Top stories, the first one is so awesome:D.

Jokes apart, I don't understand process of bidding, so I'll keep out of bidding thingy, though I regularly follow the story:).

Its a betting system, like vBookie. So you could put say 10k on NSW to win the Sheffield Shield. If they do win, then you get 35k back. If they don't win then you lose your 10k.

Lol! I wish... We'll see tonight anyway :p
I'll put 10k vcash on all my bets:

Western Australia to win Sheffield Shield
Tasmania to win Ford Ranger Cup
NSW to win KFC Big Bash

Do I send my vcash now?

Yes it would be nice if you could send vCash now :)

10k on each:

Sheffield Shield:
WA $4.5

Ford Ranger One Day Cup:
Tasmania $3

KFC Twenty20 Big Bash:
Queensland $4

You two are betting the same for the Sheffield Shield and Ford Ranger Cup, do you know something I don't :spy :p

Thanks for the vCash Callum. Bets are updated in the post.

Lol, I didn't even notice.
Looking at the odds I assume you're best at one dayers, which is why I went for you.
In my save WA owned up in the FC comp, which is why and I went for them.
Queensland was just a gamble, I think Vic will win the T20 cup.

It's not based on how good I am at each, it's based on previous performances of each team. fyi, I'm probably best at FC, then OD, and worst at T20 :p

I won't place any bets. Nice idea though. I tried it in my Man Utd story for one or two rounds but I ended up not bothering about it.
