Saturday's Suprising Fact!

Today's suprising fact is on none-other than former TT Lions skipper Arthur Dennis. What very few know about Arthur here is that he actually makes his own bats! No kidding! He took a course on bat-making while in college, and only uses his own bats, which have a specific weight and size which suit him. He has even made bats for Mohammed Delop, Nyron Cox and Ryan Crouch. He plans to go into the bat-making business when he retires from cricket.

Well, join us again next week for another Suprising Fact!

TT Lions vs. Wales CC
The Lion Stands
Sunday 25/02/2007, 07:30 GMT

After handing out all thos thrashings, it is time for the Lions to give something to charity. This match has been scheduled to raise funds for the "We are blind and wanna play the Risottario, Goddamnit" society, which aims to help those who are blind to learn to play the Risottario. 23.6% of all the income from this match goes to The Blind Risottario Fund, which was set up in the year 2000 by the Kandy Rejects society as a promotional tool to push their new instrument, the Risottario.
The thing expected to make this match a cracker is that both sides are putting forward their worst possible XI, so it should be great entertainment to watch! Ratings mean nothing here, hence we haven't included them :p
The Lions have leaked to us through a reliable source that Xavier Eli may keep wicket -seeing as he was a keeper in his youth- and the bowlers are likely to be Cutler, new youth Leroy Williams, Leeroy Spearitt, Giddings and Arthur Dennis himself. Williams, Spearitt and Cutler all being medium pacers, Dennis a suprisingly quick seamer and Giddings a left arm slow bowler. Butcher is expected to play as a fielder and to make up the numbers, with Folkes, Eli, Tuckett (As skipper), Atkinson and Drayton making up the top order.
One would hope this match would raise plenty of funds for charity. But one thing is for sure, it should be great fun!

Playing XI (Expected): Folkes, Eli (+), Tuckett (*), Atkinson, Drayton, Butcher, Cutler, Spearitt, Williams, Giddings, Dennis.

wow you have your own bat maker now, a cheap way of producing for the team

Sure is. If it weren't for him, we would have serious financial trouble :p

Sunday's Youth

Well, I've used up most of my ITS, so time to save up. Hence not ITS on this pull, let see how he turned out...
Clarke Carty (1134889)
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, respectable batting form, respectable bowling form, changeable
A cautious player with respectable leadership skills and worthless experience.

Plays For: TT Lions
Nationality: West Indies
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 110

The Coach's thoughts on Clarke here:
Not ze best play in zee world. 'e can keep wicket, but no very well, and doesn't like batting or bowling.
My thoughts:
Not a good youth. Sad to say, he'll never have any future in cricket. Fired.

An entertaining game over all, with big shots, some (suprisingly) good bowling, great fielding, and just lots of fun overall! After a fine batting performance from Wales CC worst XI, thet TT Lions got off to a shaky start before batsmen Cutler and Butcher slaughtered the bowling with the most dominating batting of the match after Myhill and Roper to wrap up a conving victory. But no one realy cared as the fans and players partied throughout the day, in the process raising in excess of ?14,500 for the Blind Risottarion Fund, ?7,820 of which were from gate recipts alone, with the remaining from merchandise.
After winning the toss, Rhys Mensing elected to bat first on a green wicket. However, Dennis and Williams, on debut, bowled waywardly but bowled well enough to reduce the top order to 34/5! But the experienced duo of Westlake and Myhill rebuilt, and while Westlake faltered after a brilliant start, Myhill kpet going and was very unlucky to miss out on his first ever century, LBW to Leroy Williams, who was suprisingly good for a guy who had never bowled before. But Roper and Kamphuis went beserk in the end to prop the score up to a rather large 281. From the Lions, Spearitt bowled very well, but was quite unlucky. Both Giddings and Cutler struggled to maintain a consistent line and length, but used their experience to great effect, and kep mixing up their pace as to keep the batsmen on their toes. Eli was rather impressive behind the stumps, but failed to get a stumping, as he fumbled his only chance off Roper off the bowling of Giddings.
In reply, the Lions tailenders showed why they were just that. Folkes was decieved by a good slower ball, while Tuckett threw away his wicket. Although Atkinson and Drayton got a few good hits in, they both fell to rather poor shots, to leave the Lions struggling at 49/4. Eli was impressive in his knock which included a massive six off Kamphuis before getting a good ball from spinner Konchesky to end his innings at 33. But Butcher and Cutler were both too good batsmen to be dismissed by these bowlers, and thrashed off the winning runs as the white ball flew all over the park, which provided great entertianment for the crowd.

Ratings:
Well, no one really cared for this! But the MOTM went to Cutler for his canny bowling and destructive innings, as he recieved a ?5,000 cheque, which he then pledged to donate to the Blind Risottario Fun to raise the total amount of money collected for this charity to ?19,500! Arthur Dennis the auctioned off a few of his home crafted bats, while Wales CC's Mensing sold his own hand-sculpted statues and Myhill, Roper and Westlake all auctioned off their caps, boots and shirts for the day. This raised the total amount raised by the end of the day to ?39,157!! A highly successful event all over, all the people involved will go home with some fine memories.

Attendance:

A good attendance by an enthuiastic crowd, and I'm sure it was a day they will all not forget! Well, maybe most of them won't forget, I think the local asylum attended the match too...
