TT Lions vs. Avalon Angels

Week 7, and with it comes what should be the toughest match of the season. The Avalon Angels are a highly active team, currently in their 5th season -the same as the Lions- and looking promising. However, they got off to a rather shocking start this season, losing 2 games they should have won, and are hence at three when they should be higher. A win here is crucial for them if they want to promote, and a win for the Lions will pretty much ensure they will promote.
At last look, the ratings for both sides were:
Code:
		[B]TT Lions	Avalon Angels[/B]

[B]Top Order:[/B]	competent respectable
[B]Middle Order:[/B]	competent mediocre
[B]Lower Order:[/B]	abysmal worthless
[B]Seam Bowling:[/B]	strong proficient
[B]Spin Bowling:[/B]	strong competent
[B]Fielding:[/B] feeble woeful
Definately not a side to be underestimated. They hold a slight edge in batting, but despite being around as long as the Lions, are quite outclassed in bowling. Even then, it should be no suprise that the Lions will be going in full strength and giving it their all.
The pitch is looking cracked up, and should be difficult for batting. The Lions will need Giddings, Cutler, Abdeen, Gallagher and Whing to step up to the plate. On the other hand, it is good for bowling, and Tuckett and co. will be licking their lips to have a bowl. It is expected to be a nice sunny day, good conditions for cricket, and should be a rather good match over all.

Playing XI (Expected): Cutler, Giddings, Abdeen (+) Rudi, Crouch, Gallagher, Whing, Finlayson, Eli, Tuckett (*), Folkes.

This is going to be testing time for u Zorax.. The main weapon you have is your bowlers. They have to do the job for you if you need to win. Gud Luck :)

Remember Dave Eyre?
Well, this player has now been transferred to Padding Up in Australia for ?208,082. Still a huge loss, but oh well...

TT Lions Classics
Part 5

TT Lions vs. Cricket Geniuses
Played at The Lion Stands
19/03/2006

TT Lions: 289/8, 50 overs [Crouch 99*, Cox 90, Barker 3/58, Leighton 2/45]
Cricket Geniuses: 292/4, 49.3 overs [Hoult 96, Holme 56, Mears 50, Udabadalawa 48*, Crouch 3/74, Drayton 1/46]

One of the early Battrick Championships was in progress during this time, and this was a Championship match. The Lions weren't particulary fond of these matches, using them as practice more than anything else despite having one of the best squads at the time. But this match was between a fast-improving Cricket Geniuses and the experienced Lions, two squads quite equal at the time. Both teams had already built up a bit of rivalry till this moment, and this match promised a lot.
The pitch was a typical Lion Stands ground, and it was a sunny day. A good day for cricket with a high scoring match expected.
But before the match, the Lions had announced a reversed batting order, in order to combat the fanatastic pace bowler Karl Barker, one of the best in PC around the time. Arthur Dennis won the toss and elected to bat, only to find thier plan had backfired, leaving the Lions 12/4 after 5 overs! Rudi, Delop and Bunn tried to rebuild, but the Lions stumbled thier way to 81/7 and were in deep trouble. Or that is, would have been in deep trouble, if it weren't for Cox and Crouch. The pair slowly and steadily rebuilt the innings, taking the team to 200/7 in 40 overs. And from there on it was chaos. Crouch imploded, and with some great support from Cox added 89 runs in the final 10 overs as the reversed batting order seemed to be paying off! The bowlers tired out and lost their line to a rampaging Crouch. Cox fell just towards the end, and Crouch started the final over on 97. A miraculous century looked on the cards, as at one point 250 looked difficult for the Lions, let alone 280+, and a Crouch or Cox century seemed out of the question. Crouch picked a single, Dennis did the same, and Crouch repeated the procedure. Crouch on 99, 3 balls left in the innings. But Dennis picked up a double, and smashed the next two balls to the fence to leave Ryan Crouch stranded on a brilliant 99 not out!! 289/8, a massive looking score, and the Lions were on top.
With a daunting total to chase, the Geniuses needed star batsman Mampes to fire. He didn't, holing out for a second ball duck as the Lions started with a bang! Hoult and Holmes had a difficult job, but batted fantastically, keeping a good pace and not taking many risks. At 161/1, the Geniuses were in firm control. But Ryan Crouch wasn't about to give up, and struck a double whammy by dismissing both Hoult and Holmes in the space of two overs. As the RRR rosed, panic set in in both teams. 84 runs needed in the last 10, the tension grew. But Mears kept his composure and scored a classy 50 off 40 balls, before Ryan Crouch struck yet again. With 6 overs left, the Geniuses needed an entirely gettable 44 runs with 6 wickets in hands. Youngster Udabadalawa and Burnip took the game right down to the wire, before a late surge helped them seal a clinical run chase with just 3 balls left in the innings! Crouch was taken at above 7 RPO, and was dying from exhaustion after his herculean one-man show. But it wasn't enough, and the legendary rivalry between these two teams was born.

Nothing can be worse than selling Mahmood and your two other Prof/Prof 17 Yr. olds... :)

First of all, his name was Masood, and secondly, at that time, we weren't ready for such good players. We got a fair deal of 1.5 Million for 2 of them, and 3 million for Masood which was a really good deal, and any manager in my shoes would have taken it.

:D

I would have trained 2 of them and sold one, but beh, I guess it worked out for the best. After all, you did beat me :)

Oh, wait, no you didn't...:D:p

Bad start Zorax:(

2.2 W Hutchinson to Giddings
Huge yorker! He had no chance with that one, Fallon shields his face as the stumps explode from out of the ground, Giddings was rooted. Hutchinson is delighted with that, and he has every reason to celebrate.
