Saturday's Suprising Fact!

Today's fact is on the TT Lions allrounder Dev Newby. Devvy, as he is called, has the amazing ability to write backwards in such a way that the text is only legible in a mirror at complete ease. Infact, he even copied out the entire book of 'Alice in Wonderland' in this method, and uses this method to write down team tactics so that no one can read them if they get into the wrong hands!

Wow! Join us next week for yet another outstanding Suprising Fact!

I have a friend in my college who can write in reverse starting from the bottom of the page right corner to left going upwards. It was amazing!

Nothing can be understood if read in normal way :p

wow, i've never met someone who can write backwards, nice work Zorax

One Day League
TT Lions vs. Avalon Angels

scorecardhi4.jpg

This match certainly exceeded all expectations, as the Lions squeezed home in a very see-saw match. A fantastic allround performance from the legendary Ryan Crouch, and great cameos from Finlayson, Folkes, Whing and Tuckett all helped the Lion sneak home in an unbelievable 6 run win, stunning the Angles by coming out of nowhere to grab victory from the jaws of defeat.
The Lions won the toss and Tuckett elected to bat first. The pitch was cracked, the sun was out, definately had the makings for an interesting day for cricket.
The bowlers were on top straight away. Giddings falling in the second over and Abdeen and Rudi following quickly after, leaving the Lions wobbling at 35/3. Cutler played with great skill on a difficult track, but threw away his wicket after a good start, playing all over a straight one to leave the score 62/4. Gally walked in under immense pressure, and self imploded after 2 balls with an ugly hoick to leave the Lions in all sorts of trouble at 62/5! But Whing is not one to back away from a challenge, and gathered 45 vital runs with Crouch before recieving a beauty from David. 117/6, and things didn't look good. Another partnership was strung together, with Finlayson and Crouch gathering 49 seemlessly effortless runs. But Crouch couldn't be restricted any longer, and fell just at the start of the last 10, playing all over one that jagged back in and kept low in an attempt to go over the top. Eli and Tuckett didn't last long, and at 172/9 it seemed all over. But Folkes batted well and above his abilities, scoring his highest ever individual score, and with Finlayson scoring briskly, they put together 21 runs to push the TT Lions to 193. Folkes was trapped LBW to end the innings after 47.3 overs, with a tricky total of 193 on the board. But would it be enough?
The Angles in turn got off to a relatively quick start, with Folkes and Rudi struggling a tad. Folkes got the first breakthrough when the score was at 24, with opener Curtis Knight edging to Rudi at slip. Constable took the attack to the bowling, and flayed some quick runs of Rudi before getting to cute and slicing the medium pacer stragith down Tuckett's throat at long-on. 34/2 after the first ten, the game was very evenly poised.
But from there on, the Angles dominated. Mckenzie and Woods batted beautifully on their home ground, blocking the good balls and punishing the bad. The youngsters were especially brutal on Xavier Eli, pounding him all over and unsettling his rhythm. All the while, the pair managed to tick along at over 4 an over, and constantly kept the Lions under the pressure cooker. At 140/2 after 31 overs, it seemed all over for the Lions. Only 54 runs to get, and plenty of time, the Lions needed a miracle.
Tuckett brought himself back into the attack with the side needing some inspiration, and didn't fail them. Mckenzie got a beauty and Abdeen held onto a sharp chance, as the Lions picked up a wicket out of nowhere. One wicket turned to two, as new batsman Newman was trapped in plumb by the skipper to set the Angels back to 147/4. The Lions were pumped up, and the Angles were now under a bit of pressure. Game on.
Woods and Kekeletso had a tricky task ahead of them, but soaked the pressure like a sponge and scored often and scored quickly to set the Angels up for an easy finish. 26 runs needed for the win, 11 overs to go, and 6 wickets in hand. But the Lions weren't going down without a fight.
Folked was brought back into the attack with 10 overs to go and the score at a rather comfortable 171/4. But the youngster had batted too well to lose this, and charged in and prised out the wicket of set batsman Alan Woods, bowling a beauty of a delivery to get the thinnest of edges through to Abdeen behind the stumps. Skipper Fallon walked in and slammed his first ball over cover, or atleast he thought he did, as Andy Finlayson pulled off an absolute blinder! A golden duck for the skipper, 2 wickets in 2 balls, and the Lions had roared back! The game had just swung on it's head, and now it was anyones for the taking. Hutchinson and Kekeletso were determined, however, to make sure this was nothing more than just a hiccup, and managed to progress the score onto 184/6 after 43 overs. Only 10 runs away from victory, there was no way they could throw this away. But the Lions smelt blood, and nothing was stopping them now. The legendary Ryan Crouch was tossed back the ball after a tight first spell, and with the match slipping away, the pressure was terriffic. But as we all know, the bigger the stage, the better this man does.
And the legend showed just why he was called so with a wicket first ball, Hutchinson getting a beauty, and they were now 7 down! Panic was setting in in the Angles pavillion, with the Lions all charged up and on the prowl. The fielders were bustling with energy, Abdeen and Finlayson chirpy as usual, and a lot of hand clapping going around. They knew the could win this. Correction, they knew they had won this.
4 balls and 2 runs later, the legend did it again. A great change on pace rapped spinner Wills on the pads, and as the finger went up the crowd went deathly silent. Crouch had struck again! The Lions were esctatic, and now the match had made a dramatic tunrnaround. 8 runs needed to win, and just 2 wickets in hand. Who would win?!?! Kekeletso was the last hope, with no other half-decent bat left.
Folkes was to continue, and he steemed in to bowl. Kekeletso took a single off the second ball, and Fedee was exposed. He survived the first ball, and a nasty staring match ensued. The gigantic Folkes managed to stare down the timid Fedee, with a growl and a glare.
The mind game worked, as Fedee played all over an innoccuos delivery the next ball to get himself bowled, and the Avalon Angels were stunned. 187/9, they had just snatched loss from the jaws of victory. But just 7 runs were needed, one hit to the fence, and everything could change. Marvin David faced off the fiery Folkes, and Kekeletso was back on strike. Just when they though things couldn't get worse, Lennox Rudi was tossed the ball. All they needed were a few good hits, and they were home free. Would the pressure prove to much for the youngster?
The first ball was punched to cover, and Kekeletso backed away to square leg to settle himself. The Lions were wasting no time, Rudi charged back to his mark, and set off too bowl the second Kekeletso returned. It was a short ball, Kekeletso lit up his eyes, pulled it high, high, high up in the air...straight into the safe hands of, you guessed it, Ryan Crouch!! Kekeletso was gone, and the Lions had won!!! A unbelievable 6 run win, rising from the dead to snatch the win by the throat. This was quite easily one of the finest, if not the finest, match in the TT Lions history.

Ratings:

Brilliant ratings, for once my batting looks good! Still needs work, but I am rather pleased with it ATM. The Angels' had some brilliant ratings too, definately a good team to play against. Crouch as MOTM, I wouldn't disagree. Although special mention should go to Folkes who batted out of his skin for his score of 8, played a very, very important role in the win by allowing the Lions to crawl past 180. Not to mention the 4 wickets, they helped too...

TT Lions vs. Umer's XI
Graveyard for Loosers
Sunday 4/04/2007, 10:30 GMT

The Umer's XI stunned the PC Battrick world recently by making the play-offs, knocking out favourites The Falcons. They proceeded to lose a nailbiter of a match by 1 run to Everton, and have made their mark as a team not to be written off. Now, how can a team make their claim to fame with a match against the fabled TT Lions? And this is what it is. After the Cricket Geniuses failed to respond to challenges for the Lions, the Umer's XI have stepped up in what should be a rather interesting match.
At last look, the ratings were:
Code:
		[B]TT Lions Umer's XI [/B]

[B]Top Order:[/B]	competent respectable
[B]Middle Order:[/B]	respectable mediocre
[B]Lower Order:[/B]	abysmal worthless
[B]Seam Bowling:[/B]	superb respectable
[B]Spin Bowling:[/B]	strong useless
[B]Fielding:[/B] feeble woeful
As you can see, not a team to be underestimated. They have quite a fantastic squad for a new team, and that seam attack should be rather tricky on a Uneven pitch. The weather should help the seamers, humid and all. A low scoring match is on the cards here, and don't expected the Lions to hold back any punches.

Playing XI (Expected): Cutler, Giddings, Rudi, Abdeen (+), Gallagher, Crouch, Whing, Finlayson, Eli, Tuckett (*), Folkes.
