The Briggswagon rolls on!
And this time he was rightfully given 17 overs, more than both Hoggard and Kruis.
Mainly because he was in search of that 5 for!

wicked stuff briggsy :) congrats...

Love the story Briggsey - keep up the good work!

I don't have the game so I was just wondering, I know you autoplay when you're not involved but how does that work when you're batting? Do you have to control both batsmen?

Good luck for the rest of the season. If this fine 4 day form continues you will surely force yourself into the test side! Briggsey could one day bring home the Ashes! :cheers

ps that's an inFredible avatar you've got there!

Thanks for the comments Treve. To answer your question, I have no choice but to control the other batsmen at the crease when Briggs is batting as there is no option just to control one batsman (unfortunately) but I do put as much effort into their batting as with Briggs' to make it fair as if I just concentrated on Briggs batting and bowling then wouldnt be much of a team player would I! :D

Very InFredible if u ask me! But tomorrow ill be switching back to my angry Flintoff face, a lot like the one you have now!

Trouble For Yorkshire As Worcestershire Take The Advantage
At New Road

Worcestershire ripped through the Yorkshire middle order to leave them clear favourites to take this game at New Road. A devestating spell from Shoaib Akhtar helped by the spin from Ray Price meant Yorkshire were bowled out for 178 in there second innings, meaning Worcestershire require only 251 to win the game with over a day to go. Vaughan and Jaques were the only batsmen to make a score of any note and if not for their efforts, Worcestershire would have required a lot lesser to win.

From Briggs View
When Briggs got out, the whole Yorkshire innings collapsed, showing how much Briggs' contribution over the past few games has really helped Yorkshire to build a foundation of winning games. It took something special to get him out however as Peters amazing diving catch at second slip got rid of arguably one of the dangermen in the Yorkshire order. With Hoggard and Vaughan soon to be off on England duty shortly, Briggs will be relied upon a lot more over the coming months and if he fails in those games, Yorkshire may collapse as a team judging by this second innings batting performance.

Yorkshire Fightback To Claim Victory
At New Road

A spirited Yorkshire side, at one time staring defeat in the face, fought back to snatch a brilliant victory at New Road today by a margin of 52 runs. Worcestershire never really recovered from losing 2 early wickets and even though there were some signs of a fightback through Graeme Hick and Ben Smith, Yorkshire were just too strong on the day. A good all round bowling performance saw all 5 of the main attack pick up wickets, with Hoggard and Briggs both getting 3 in what was a very good victory.

From Briggs View
At one time it looked as if Briggs bowling was going astray as he was clobbered around especially in his opening over, but Briggs showed a lot of courage and fight to bounce back and eventually pick up 3 vital wickets. Peters, Smith and Pipe all fell to the bowling of Briggs and he also took the catch to win the game for Yorkshire to cap off another good performance from Briggs.

Shaun Briggs 12-0-58-3
1st Spell
1st Over: Peters welcomes Briggs into the attack by hitting his first all for 4 and then next ball smashing him straight down the pitch for 6
2nd Over: WICKET! Brilliant comeback from Briggs who clean bowls the man who had previously smashed him for 10 in the last over
3rd Over: Hick hits Briggs for 4
4th Over: Kruis misfields and another boundary is picked up from Briggs bowling
5th Over: 2 runs picked up from Briggs over
6th Over: Single from the over
7th Over: Ben Smith hits Briggs away for 2 fours in the over
8th Over: Briggs bowls a no ball
End Of Spell: 8-0-42-1
2nd Spell
1st Over: 3 runs picked up from the over
2nd Over: 2 runs from the over
3rd Over: WICKET! Pipe hits Briggs away for 4 but then a few balls later is caught plum in front, Briggs again replying in the best way possible to being hit to the rope
4th Over: WICKET! Ben Smith goes for a big shot but doesnt get it all and hits it straight down the throat of Michael Vaughan

Stats For Shaun Briggs After Game Eight
statsafter83nv.jpg

Briggs form continues to prosper in the longer version of the game as another strong all round performance boosts his hopes of an academy call up. At the rate Briggs has gone so far as the half way point has been reached, Briggs looks as if 1000 runs and 50 wickets will be a must and if his form gets better, who knows how many runs and wickets he will have by the end of the season.

Marsh Speaks Of Briggs As Future England Prospect

rod-marsh-160.jpg

Rod Marsh: Big future for Briggs

Outgoing Academy director Rod Marsh gave young upcoming all rounder Shaun Briggs a boost by saying he see's him as a future England prospect. In an interview with Sky Sports News, Marsh said he saw Briggs along with several other youngsters in the county game as huge prospects and stated he was also dissapointed he would not get much chance to work with them.

"Obviously when you look at the county game now within England, some names stick out such as young Cook at Essex and also the all rounder Briggs at Yorkshire. To me these two stand out and I could see them dominating the international scene in a few years."

Marsh though did go on to say that it would take a lot of work in the academy for both to reach their potential.

"The national academy is obviously the place where players like Briggs and Cook will eventually come and work on their game more, at the moment I see weaknesses in both their games but if they do come here I can see them following in the footsteps of players like Kevin Pietersen and Freddie Flintoff who have all come through the ranks to represent England."

Marsh though was quick to rule out staying on to help the youngsters, and was firmily committed to going back to Australia to spend more time with his family.

"When it comes to family and work, family is always going to win for me, no matter how much I love this game and would like to help these kids move up the ranks. The last 3 years ive been here have been fantastic for me and I think my work has gone some way to help England be the team they are today and will be in the future.

Yorkshire vs Surrey
Headingly

In the rematch from the first totesport league game of the season, Yorkshire welcome Surrey to Headingly. Yorkshire already have one up on Surrey from their victory over them earlier in the season and so will come in to this knowing they have one over on their opponents already. However, Surrey's star studded line up will look to put a dent into Yorkshire's promotion hopes. White and Butcher had a look at the conditions before play got underway.

So yet another green pitch has been produced by the groundsman at Headingly, and with this in mind, the coin toss would be an interesting one.

So Mark Butcher won the toss and put Yorkshire in to bat first which is an interesting decision considering how the pitch may get worse as the game goes on. The teams were soon released and play was ready to begin.

Good bowling and fielding there from briggs although he failed with the bat. I think he will now soon make a place for himself in the England team.
Great story Briggsey. I really enjoys it.
