A T20 draft...cricket_icon & swacker's picks

sorry i mean alastair cook

----------

Alastair Nathan Cook, MBE (born 25 December 1984) is an English international cricket player. He is a left-handed opening batsman who plays county cricket for Essex and International cricket for England, where he is their ODI captain. Cook played for Essex's Academy and made his debut for the first XI in 2003. He has played in a variety of England's youth teams from 2000 until his call up to the Test side in 2006.
While touring in the West Indies with the ECB National Academy, Cook was called up to the England national team in India as a last-minute replacement for Marcus Trescothick and debuted with a century. Debuting at 21 years of age, Cook went on to become the youngest Englishman to reach 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, 5,000 and 6,000 test runs, making centuries in his first Test matches against India, Pakistan, the West Indies and Bangladesh. He is also the only Englishman to score seven Test centuries before his 23rd birthday.[1]
Despite this prodigious flurry of runs, Cook came under criticism throughout 2008 for a lack of centuries; he replied in 2009 with two centuries, as well as a score of 95 against Australia to help seal England's first victory against them at Lord's since 1934. He took seven catches in the series, including the final wicket, to win the 2009 Ashes series. After deputising as Test captain in 2010, Cook went on to play another pivotal role in retaining the 2010-11 Ashes series, breaking records by scoring the second highest number of runs in a Test series by an Englishman, including his maiden first-class double-hundred and two further hundreds, and batting for over 35 hours during the series.[2]
Cook was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2011 Birthday Honours.[3][4]

Found a player called Andrew Crook. Too bad neither his stats are good nor he is an Englishman.

Man! I was going to pick Shah as I'm having a tough time finding a decent English bowler.

^He's got about 3hrs to go...come on Bevab, don't let icon have the pick of the board :D I can't see any obvious standouts, will be interested to see who you've got in mind!

I'm last. I hope I get to pick someone 'decent'. :( Btw, this is taking a pretty long time..

I've got two players on the radar, don't know who should I go for.

Alright, I'm picking James Taylor. Writeup later.........

here I go, my pick is:

Craig Kieswetter

T20I

Matches: 18, Runs: 411, Average: 24.17, SR: 113.85 with 2 50s

His highest score of 63 came in the t20 WC final if I remember correctly.

Catches: 12, Stumpings: 2

Not the best opening batsman out there and neither is he the best wicket keeper but with England's resources dwindling I had to pick someone who was a capable enough keeper with the ability to bat. Kieswetter instantly came to mind. Add to that the fact he can hit the ball pretty hard, I think I've managed to find just the right guy for my team.

Team so far:

1. Imran Nazir
2. Craig Kieswetter WK
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9. Saeed Ajmal
10.
11. Umar Gul

^Ah so Kieswetter is the mystery man :D There's another top level English keeper floating around that I thought would be a pretty good pick too (he's been largely ignored by England in T20s and ODIs at the expense of Kieswetter...:p). Probably a decent idea to get that keeper at the time when your options aren't fantastic.

I think Owais Shah is the pick I like best at the moment for this round, really good T20 player - nice one Aoun :thumbs

Ah, that guy!:D

Still I would prefer Taylor over anybody, anybody except one guy, who I was considering picking.

gaaah, er, stuart broad. write up later, I just woke up (it's like 2pm :/) and I'm going to be late for an appointment.

stuart broad, god I hate him. I can't stress how much this annoys me.

Was my other consideration with Taylor. Well, somebody finally picked him!

Man, I need a keeper. so, Matt Prior it will be. Will do the write-up in a couple of hour's time.

Still, the guy lurks out there!:D
