A T20 draft...cricket_icon & swacker's picks

Left-handed opening batsman Imran Farhat has hitting power to burn, although he has yet to prove himself on the biggest stage. One of many Pakistani players to have missed out on the IPL, he has had a chance to play instead for the likes of Lashings in England, and Uthura Rudras in Sri Lanka, and has excelled in such places. Most notably, he hit eleven consecutive sixes for the Lashings. He wouldn't be close to my first five Pakistani picks, but hopefully he can give my team a fact start.

Imran Farhat
Lahore, Pakistan, Uthura Rudras

Swacker's up next, then me.

Just to finish off our Pakistan round, here's a few more players that weren't picked but are possibly worthy of mention:
Abdur-Rehman-Enjoy.jpg
Shoaib-Malik-should-have-been-in-the-ODI-squad-as-well,-says-Basit-Ali-Cricket-News-Update-161075.jpg
610x.jpg

*Abdur Rehman - The current left arm spinner for Pakistan. Tidy bowler with an economy rate below 7 at all levels of T20.

*Shoaib Malik - His international record looks a bit average now, but he was playing well up until 2009 when he got sacked as captain. Since then he's only been in the team randomly and has understandably lost a bit of confidence. Has always done well for Sialkot Stallions (he averages 61 for them over 41 games), captaining them to quite a few titles.

*Yasir Arafat - Very experienced T20 pace bowler who can contribute handy runs down the order. Has played a lot in England and in a few other leagues around the world.

And a couple of 'questionable' players, but worth noting their T20 abilities:
mohammad-amir.jpg
Danish-Kaneria-006.jpg

*Mohammad Amir - A talented left arm pace bowler, currently banned from cricket for bowling no-balls for money. Most of his T20 was played at international level, averaging just under 20 with the ball.

*Danish Kaneria - Opposite to Amir, a leg spinner who never played a T20I for Pakistan, instead playing most of his T20 at Essex in the English leagues. Currently banned for match fixing.

Didn't pick Aamir or Asif only because they don't deserve in any World XI.

I was considering picking Malik, before I opted for Misbah.

Marcus Trescothick

trescothick_1463323c.jpg

Trescothick has only played 3 T20Is for England because of personal issues, but he did very well in those matches, scoring 2 half centuries. He also had a very successful ODI and Test career, so there should be no question of his ability.

But it's his work for Somerset though that makes him one of the best T20 batsmen. The stats show he averages just under 35 with a strike rate of 157 in domestic T20s, a remarkable record. To underline that statement, Trescothick is only the 5th batsman to have scored over 2000 domestic T20 runs at a strike rate better than 150. Only 2 of those 5 have averages over 30. Any guesses for who my 2 openers are??? :D

Doesn't go the aeriel route quite as often as some other openers, but he's good at spanking the ball through the gaps in the field from his upright stance and does it often enough to have a very high scoring rate.

Format | Matches | Innings | Runs | Highest Score | Average | Strikerate | 50s/100s T20I | 3 | 3 | 166 | 72 | 55.33 | 126.71 | 2/0 T20 | 68 | 67 | 2139 | 108* | 34.50| 157.16 | 17/2

Do some write-up Adrin rather than copy-pasting the cricinfo profile page of Trott.

I'm still waiting and a couple of names for England, which I wanted, have been taken. Damn you all!

Trott and Tresco class, sadly Tresco can't travel abroad or has depression, I forget. There's one name I really want....please don't pick him.

I was considering picking Malik, before I opted for Misbah.

Yeah I had a good look at him too, but in the end having Umar Akmal as a keeping option made more sense that having Shoaib Malik's bowling. Interesting picking Misbah over Malik, since those 2 have interwoven fates :p ie. if Misbah had executed that scoop shot in the last over of the 2007 World T20 final and Pakistan had won, then Malik (and coach Geoff Lawson) would probably have been leading for longer and Malik's career might have looked a lot better.

Yes Andrin we'd love to read some more personalised thoughts about your picks. Just a little bit about why your player is special, what you like about him or one of his best matches/achievements. If you don't know, here's your chance to do some research and find out something new :yes

And it looks like you've got your top order sorted - top 4 already :p

We've also got a supersub to announce: Stinky is stepping in for Sedition - so watch out everyone, master drafter in the house :D
