A T20 draft...cricket_icon & swacker's picks

Every T20 team needs a useful all-rounder, and for this team, that man is James Franklin. His batting speaks for itself - a left handed batsman who stays still and gives the ball a good thump. Despite being rarely used, he is also an excellent bowler, once good enough to make it into the New Zealand Test team as a specialist bowler. While that area of his game has receded somewhat, it remains effective enough to share the fifth-bowler role with Smith and Gayle.

I'm guessing Swacker'll miss his slot.

^Yeah Swacker will need to pick ASAP or he'll start sinking towards the bottom of the round. So now we've got 2 guys who can pick: swacker and Aoun - first in, best dressed :yes

You wish buddy! And yeah I remember Franklin playing as a specialist left armer back in the day. Lets just say he made the right choice by focusing on his batting :p As a 5th or 6th bowler in T20s though I think he's OK.

I'm doing exactly the same thing I did in the generational draft and forgetting to pick batsmen again.

Luckily for you, everyone else seems to be going the other way and picking batsmen and all-rounders. I think you'll find some good value batsmen as we go along :thumbs

My pick Jacob Oram.

OK so I'm a bit late, but I forgot to add this a couple of days ago to officially finish off the West Indies round. So here are a few guys I was looking at that are also worthy of a mention:

Samuel-Badree-1200.jpg

*Krishmar Santokie - Has a bowling average of 10.54 in all T20 cricket! Has played only 2 T20Is thus far - saw him in one of those and he bowls with a slingy left arm action. Not real fast, only around 120kph but mixes up his pace and bowls full. I liked him and would have gambled on him if Taylor wasn't still around to be picked.

*Samuel Badree - leg spinner who has done very well in the Caribbean T20 comp. His economy rate is 4.59! He made his T20I debut in June vs NZ and is in the World T20 squad, ahead of more fancied spinners like Suliemann Benn and Bishoo (sorry Fenil couldn't resist...you're tough enough to take it :p)

*Lendl Simmons - Averages mid 20s and around 120 S/R in his 13 T20Is thus far. Played very well in the 2009 World T20, but hasn't really fired outside that - in any form of international cricket really. Good in field, can also bowl medium pace, and even wicketkeep too.

There's a few others hanging around: Johnson Charles is a decent opening bat, Sherwin Ganga is a reasonable off-spinner, and there's some guys with more international experience but who have really only been OK in T20s eg. Ramnaresh Sarwan and Suliemann Benn.

Sohail Tanvir

As far as I know he was the leading wicket-taker in the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League, taking around 22 wickets at an average of 12.09 for the Rajasthan Royals, including match figure of 6-14. -source- I don't know much of him but he surely got talent.

Make a NZ pick too Swacker.

Still Stinky and Swacker's picks...:p Swacker to start off the India round, and Stinky to finish the Kiwi round. There's a couple of very respectable Kiwi batters out there still I notice...

Just on Sohail Tanvir, he also did quite well in the Sri Lankan premier league that just finished.

Gambhir is already taken by Adrin in 2nd any nation round, Swacker. Pick other Indian player.

^Allow me to put my nod of blessing on both those picks :D

I was kinda hoping Irfan Pathan would still be there when I picked, so I could at least have some choice. I think he's one of the better pace bowling all-rounders to be had in the draft. So nice one Swacker :thumbs

I'll add some Kiwi players of note when I get some spare time. Martin Guptill was one that stood out to me when I was looking through players. More later...
