All about computers.

Well, I have a different problem, thats a bit related to cricket 2002 but also to computers in general.

You see, I have Windows XP, and when opening somekind of pitchad file, I accidently opened it with a notepad, but what the mistake was that the "Always open this file using this program" was on. Now I want to return it to the original file, and not open it with test file always. I really hope you know what I mean. I am posting a screenshot so you can advice me what to do.

I am hopeful theres a way to correct this probelm and return this Text file to its original pitch ad file. Thanks again! :helpme: Please ask any question about things that are confusing.

1) Try deleting the file if it's a system file try restoring using msconfig.exe else goto step 2) or step 4)
2) Try updating your antivirus else goto step 3) or step 6)
3) try changing your antivirus else goto step 4) or step 6)
4) If it's registry virus then try removing it manually but backup your registry first else goto step 5) or step 6)
5) try the support of the antivirus manufacturer's else goto step 6)
6) try formatting the system!!! else goto HEALL!!!

(just joking) :unfazed:

none of those worked and the last one i have tried millions of time.the virus is called win32/pairte...anyone familiar to that?

What antivirus program do you use? The first defence against viruses and trojans is common sense. Second is Norton Antivirus - McAfee disappointed me once and i haven't used it since. Also stop p2p downloading and sharing to minimize risks. O_O

You should try out NOD32 . Its many times better than Norton and takes less than 1/10 th the resources. Moreover an AV wont protect you from all worms. You need to be running a good Firewall for that.

And not be stupid enough to open e-mail attachments you're not expecting.
Yeah that would be a good idea too... :D

There's a problem in my laptop. It hangs on the startup welcome loading screen as shown in the picture. I tried to restart the computer several times even in the safe mode but it never gets pass this screen. When the computer boots, I pressed F8 and on the startup menu I've selected Last Known Good Configradulation but the same problem occurs. I have Windows XP Home Edition.
The picture is taken from my Desktop PC so that others can understand what I exactly mean.
Any one please help me :helpme: .

I tried the recovery cd but it says all of your data stored in the hard drive will be erased. What should I do? Anyone else. Thanks Hammudy for your help. :)
