All time best fielders in Cricket ?

What about Tariq Iqbal then ? That brilliant keeper from Kenya, even his own team mates couldn't stop laughing with how pathetic he was behind the stumps.Lucky bugger managed to hold onto an edge from Lara's bat.

Jonty ---------------------------------------------------->The rest

Solkar, yes. Brian Close too. There was this old RSA player who's name I forget, who was judged the best fielder ever by those who saw him. Then there is Roger Harper, Azhar, Jonty.

Current players...Symonds, Gibbs, Kaif, Old-Yuvi, Collyflower, ABD, Dilshan...

There a quite a lot that spring to my mind. Here is my list in no particular order:

Mark Waugh
Andrew Symonds
Ricky Ponting
Paul Collingwood
Mohammad Kaif
Brendon McCullum
Imran Nazir
Fawad Alam
Shoaib Malik
Jonty Rhodes
Herchelle Gibbs
AB de Villiers
Tillakaratne Dilshan
Dwayne Bravo

I would not say they are in the "all time best fielders" category. Not even in the current best fielding top 10.

no great idea about the past apart from jonty.

Clive Lloyd, Azharuddin, carl hooper all have good reputations.

of recent times de villiers stands just before Symonds and Dilshan.

one thing I think is that a fair number of the best ever slip fielders have played recently

Jayawardene
Dravid
Mark Taylor
Stephen Flemming
Kallis
Ponting despite his recent howler

Murali has to thank Mahela for getting getting is world record number of wickets as he has snaffled anything up of his bowling and slip fielding to spin bowling is much harder than to pace bowling.

I also think Ross Taylor looks a potentially brilliant fielder.

I'm old enough to have been a very impressionable teenager when Jonty was at his peak. The man is superhuman. Nothing against Colly but he should scarce be mentioned in the same breath as the great man.

my top 5:
Jonty Rhodes
Paul Collingwood
Andrew Symonds
M Kaif
Herschelle Gibbs
