All Time India Test XI Draft (Shravi)

056463.jpg

He only played 30 tests (averaging 47.65) but his First Class average of 58.38 after 238 matches shows that he could have gone on to comfortably score many more runs at an average of 50 or more. In 1943-1944, he had a prolific first class season in which he scored 1,100 runs in just 4 matches.

lol at this. cricketman blatantly rigging the picks so he gets the best players :D

1st pick always picks last in the second round.

You can clearly see that the draft has been randomized. I had nothing to do with it, I got the list from net-commish.com

It's just the luck of the draw I guess.

Anyways, damn you Zorax! I had Mankad penciled down as my next pick, but I guess you got him first. The next pick will be a crucial one...

What happens at the end of all this, will people be allowed to vote on who has the best team or will you play them against each other on a simulator. Or nothing of course, and it was just for fun.

Boo Yea! Got the 5th of My 5 Greatest Indian Cricketers of all times :D

Bishan Singh Bedi

Forget his temperamental attitude, his tantrums on and off the field, and his ill-informed views on chucking. Bishan Singh Bedi was one of, if not THE greatest left-arm spinner to have played the game, and could very well remain to be so. Not only did he possess all the skills -control over flight, spin, accuracy and plenty of variations- he also had one of the keenest cricketing minds ever seen. No All-Time India XI would be complete without a couple of great spinners, so who better than the greatest one of them all?

My turn?

Either Sunny or Kapil...meh, I'll go with Sunil Gavaskar

Do I really need to explain? One of the greatest opening batsman of all time, the second best batsman ever produced by India, excellent cricketing mind, and while he does have his downsides (A generally defensive approach to the game, didn't like ODIs...), he is still a Legend and will always be one. The original 'Little Master' is the best man to open the batting, and the only option for an All Time India Test XI.

My next pick.

Virender Sehwag.

Unarguably one of the best batsmen I've even seen in my life. I've never seen someone go after the new ball so much, without fear and somewhat successfully. He has two triple hundreds to his name as showed in the Chennai test atch last year, he can take the game away from the opposition in a few overs. His aggressive mindset and fearless batting is one of a kind.

He will be best remembered for his overseas performances with 42 wickets in 5 tests. He is recognized as India's most unpredictable spinner.

Interesting pick there shravi, his record of 42 wickets in just 5 tests is brilliant.

I quite like that leggie is clearly going for the all action indian team. there's maybe another 2 rounds of legends that I can think of and then it gets interesting.

Come on guys. Let's speed this up. The New Zealand draft is so much faster and much more efficient even with one of the guys living in England. Ideally, it should be easier for us with 3 time zones (Rohit and myself are practically in the same time zone). Fair enough if you've been busy but if you do visit PC, try to make it the first thread you visit lol.

GR Viswanath

Gundappa Viswanath was a true artist with the willow. Delicate late cuts, sparkling cover drives, and beautiful leg glances made him a treat to watch.
Viswanath was just as important to the Indian side as Gavaskar, as he performed better in the pressure-cooker situations. His unbeaten 97 against the raging Andy Roberts in Madras, or his dogged 124 off 255 against the Windies quick men at the same venue, were all memorable innings that Vishy unfurled when the chips were down. A true team player, a century was meaningless to him if it didn't contribute to winning the the match.

One of the finest sportsman India has ever produced - Gundappa Viswanath!
