All Time India Test XI Draft (Shravi)

Might as well take Dhoni that lad from Ranji now. :p

Howd'ya know I'd pick Amar Singh?

In the World XI thread you said something like

'Javagal Srinath and Zak aren't the best quicks India have produced, Amar Singh is'.

A great utility player that proved himself worthy in both test and ODI cricket. He could bowl great spells such as the one in which he took 4 wickets for 9 runs in 30 balls. He was also fairly good with the bat with innings such as the 83* vs Pakistan in a 155-run seventh wicket partnership. He also has the 5th best strike rate for Indian bowlers (pacers and spinners), ahead of Kapil, Srinath and Zaheer.

Quick bowlers are all the rage now. Everyone wants one before they run out :p

2 names pop up in mind for my second seamer...

Come on guys, a few more rounds today :p. I'm thinking well at the moment.

Hurry up Chennai Chump!

I'm pwning this draft. :D Got India's best opening bat, best fast bowler, best spinner, and arguably India's best keeper-bat and AR.

Syed Kirmani

India's greatest wicketkeeper. His lightning fast stumpings, brilliant catches, and the way he moved behind the stumps made him the best man to don the gloves for India ever. He was at ease standing up to the stumps against India's spin quartet, and had no problems dealing with the pacey Kapil Dev either. It is a testament to Kirmani's greatness behind the stumps that he was able to perform against both with distinction. He was handy with the bat for India, batting doggedly in the lower order, rallying tailenders in hope for a crucial draw or attacking the bowlers to stretch the first innings lead.

I'm happy with the way i'm going too. India's best batsman, best fast bowler and allrounder, best (pure) keeper, one of the best spinners, and a legendary middle order batsman. Fetch that!

It's tight for all the team's now, Leggie's full of modern names, while Shravi's got 4 Good 'uns and Binny...

Title's wrong, it's Shravi's turn.

He is arguably India's Bradman. He has a first class average of 71.64 after 150 matches and 234 innings. It was unfrotunate he didn't play as much test cricket as he should have but quite a few of those first class innings were against English sides. He amassed 4000 runs in England alone. Among his 44 first-class centuries were 11 in excess of 200. Although his career average is 47.72, he averages 56.75 as an opener with 681 runs in 7 matches (12 innings) with 3 centuries and 2 fifties. He was also named as Wisden Cricketer of the Year 1937. Following this award, B.C.Fry said of him- "Let us paint him white and take him with us to Australia as an opener".

Daaaaaaayum, I had Merchant next. Whats with you guys and stealing my picks?! :p

Didn't think anyone would've gone for him tbh. Shravi, you may have keeper troubles in the future...

Damn, this order is confusing.

Venkatesh Prasad

As the new ball partner of statemate Javagal Srinath, Venkatesh Prasad was an important member of the Indian team from his debut in 1996 until he was passed over in 2001. Tall and proportionally built, Prasad's great strength is that he could move the ball both ways. A deceptive slower ball also proved an useful weapon.
