Mohammad Nissar
India's first, and possibly greatest, fast bowler. Nissar was a 'bull of a man' (cricinfo) that could move the ball in the air and off the deck. However, it was his speed that set him apart - more than half of his test victims were bowled or leg before, a testimony to the sheer pace in which he delivered the ball. In India's maiden test against England, he plunged the hosts into disarray by knocking over the openers - Holmes and Sutcliffe - who ten days earlier had added 555 for Yorkshire. He ended up with 5/93. On that tour of England, Nissar picked up 71 wickets at 18.09 to top the charts.
In his last tour of England, Nissar departed the test scene with a brilliant spell that yielded 4 wickets in just 5 overs, sending England from 422/3 to 463/7.
Mohommad Nissar only played 6 Test matches, however he was an absolute beast in the domestic format. He took 396 first class wickets at just over 17, in just 93 matches. His most memorable performance was in the Ranji Final of 1939, where he snapped up an amazing 17 wickets to grab the title for Southern Punjab.
