Hi Ravi,

Just a quick question, what values, when using the cfg editor do you consider the most important in making the cpu bat better e.g. get less edges, less likely to play rash shots etc?

Thanks

Murali, I know its been a long time coming but somehow I wasn't satisfied with the way CPU was batting.

After a month long or is it year long ;) tweaking now I am absolutely satisfied with the results. I had been tweaking away the shots apparently not satisfied with the way CPU bats although it used to score good enough totals and last 50 overs too. The flair was missing in CPU's batting and if I can believe what I saw it was an absolute beauty the way CPU batted. I have got the CPU to play the pull shot, sq drive, all the shots in C2K4 and even the reverse sweep

All these days I was wanting the CPU to have the option of hitting more than just a shot or two to a ball bowled anywhere. Now it seems to pull out more than 5 shots for one ball making it very difficult to bowl to. A ball bowled just outside off stump may be hit from the sq leg through to the 3rd man by the CPU. This batting has been the value for money to me.

There is room for little improvement I am doing at the moment and once done I will upload it here.

I will upload some interesting videos of the game depicting the range of shots CPU play for the same ball. The interesting one is the reverse sweep and the paddle sweep. They both were played to a similar delivery and once the same ball was hoisted over sq leg for a six by Key. You can get a taste of what I am trying to do with the up coming patch. Let me see if I can upload the video here.

Again similar ball bowled but notice the CPU playing a different shots this time around. I suppose these shots were played in one single over too.

hey ravi how did u replace the adboards as seen in the clip???

Thats using Ste's adboards apparently. The graphics editor that will help you to replace the adboards will be released by Ste. The one you saw in the video isn't right anyway, there are one too many blank adboards. Unless China was playing Japan in a test match that wouldn't happen.;) :p

At last the patch is attached for all those concerned. The CPU batting will be quite versatile maintaining 6/rpo in ODIs. The CPU scores all around the ground and does not necessarily repeat any particular shot twice so spreading the field as soon as you get a chance helps in curtailing the run rate.

Limited testing on the test matches so if any issues please mention here we can fix those in future. I always employ deep fieldsmen (right at the end of the 30 yard circle) even in the first 15 overs. In particular the sq leg, mid wicket and mid on is to be kept on the edge of the circle. Third man and a fine leg also helps in keeping the fours away. CPU prefers playing leg glance, on drive against the line of the ball and is quite strong on the aerial cut shot too. Bowling a good length in both ODIs and Tests are the way to go. Anything full or short will be hit around even in the initial stages of the game hence try and maintain good length. To enhance the bowling experience I suggest you guys use !xspeed software available on the net.

Don?t be disheartened if you are whacked around in the first couple or three overs. The CPU is tweaked to accelerate in the first 3-5 overs and then in the last 7-8 overs. Not necessarily the runs will come in attacking shots; even the singles and couples contribute a lot to the score. This patch holds good for 45/50 overs ODIs and Test matches only. I also suggest you guys use Sam?s run out fixed exe when bowling, it ensures no silly run outs. This patch may not really help the run out bug although I have had games where there were no CPU run outs at all.

The human batting is reasonable and anyone should be able to rake up good scores. Just in case you guys find batting still hard then I suggest you do the following in the ODI hard file:

DiffLevel 1.899999
StrokeDiffLevel 1.899999
BatWindowIdealSize 2.2

Any tips on bowling or batting or if any further tweaks are needed please feel free to ask me.

No worries mate, I know the target audience for this patch is little thanks up to date patches by others but its for those who have continued to use the older versions. They spend lot of time looking forward to upgrades to the previous patch so even if it for very few it was probably well worth the update I thought.

Oh ok. Because I am currently using SAc2k4pt version 1.4a and it is very good.
Although I know version 11 of your patch as awesome as well.
Cheers,
From Duffarama.

Ravi,

Had a question about your patch. I downloaded your patch and have been playing it in a match. I have just been batting till now and if I play a straight drive, it seems to go all over the place EXCEPT straight. Is it just my timing or is it because the straight drive has been tweaked in such a way that it will not go straight, ever.

Otherwise, I 'feel' the patch to be quite a bit of improvement over your previous patches. I have to try it out for longer to make a more accurate assessment.

Murali, straight drive may also go straight but how many times can you time the ball straight in real times anyway. Many a times we hit it straight to mid off or even mid on. With the same shot there can be variations when you open the bat a little bit, it can even travel through extra covers or even mid on. There will definitely be occassions when it goes straight but not every other time. It is a tweak and not your timing, its a touch unconventional for C2K4 but you will get used to it.
