6.The sweep to full pitched balls on leg stump was often the paddle sweep, rather than the normal sweep, which meant it was often missed.

How do we play the paddle sweep? It might be the same key combination as the normal seep.if so,what is the difference in timing betn them,i mean do i have to play very early to get a paddle sweep or very late ??

I don't think we have much control over whether the cpu will choose us to play the paddle sweep or the normal sweep when we choose to play the sweep. I think it's down to various settings in the two strokes' cfg files (ball length, on what stump it pitches etc). Ravi will enlighten us more.

Jonah is pretty much right there Pat, we have no control over the stroke as both the strokes can be played. Sweep and paddle sweep are available for CPU as well as human as aggressive shots. The game triggers a normal sweep shot for ballbatsman 0 so any ball where the batsman is towards the leg side of the ball this shot is triggered otherwise its a paddle sweep I think.

This patch is right up there with tutsis patches

The only problem i find is that when i bowl on off stump the batsmen leg glances me.

otherwise great:)

Ravi,

I just now completed the next match between SA and India on a normal pitch. I (India) scored 153 all out after 36 overs (as always struggled with the bat). Then, I returned to form with my bowling and was able to get the SA batsmen out for 109 off 25 overs. I have to tell you that out of the 10 wickets, 2 are by run-out. Initially, I was not using Sam's no-runout exe. The first was a very close third umpire call, so I took it. The next one was a silly run-out, even then I took it because I thought the CPU was going to win anyway. But, then I started using the no-runout exe. There were no run-outs afterwards, but I was able to get 6 wickets using the spinners, 4 of which were by stumpings. I am not sure why there are so were so many stumpings. In the previous match against Zimbabwe, I do not believe there was even a single stumping. Maybe it is because the team that I was playing against was SA. I have noticed earlier that SA batsmen tend to get out this way.

The other difference between my previous match and this was that I used your patch version 11 earlier and in this match I used version 12.

In any case, I do not think you need to change anything right now. You can wait for more comments from me and others before making any changes (if necessary). Playing a few more matches against different opponents will help judge how your patch works.

Enjoy that win Murali, you thoroughly deserve it for bowling well. A collapse like this is of rarity from what I have seen so far unless SA wants to prove me wrong. I suppose it may just be one off and you may have been destined to win. If it occurs one too many times then a very minor tweak can fix this.

As far the runouts, you really have to play with the no runout exe. You know couple of runouts at the top of the order of a good batsman can make so much difference to the overall score. Moreover the tail and in particular the last 4 are easy to get. If you run through the top 6 wickets its fairly easy to bowl out the rest so the best way to counter this is to use no runout exe.

Yes .Very nice patch indeed as I am using it with xspeed 1.41 and in other 10 over match cpu really punished me and beat me and it scored 135 in 10 overs and I was surprised to see it,s bowling that many unique and variety of strokes were being displayed.Although my batting is very good but bowling is weak and it was really enjoyable.I dropped the windows size to 1.5 and then batting is bit improved for me.If I feel something need to be changed I will let you know.

I think that straight drive shot with power or without power is bit strong and may be it needs to decrease it,s power a bit that sometimes it get the edge or go near by .Otherwise all is nice.

Yes Hero thats a very valid point you made about the straight drive, it fetches far too many runs to my liking. It needs to be made hard to time, will do that after my game with S.

Its interesting you mention about !xspeed, isnt it a beauty of a software and also makes the game finish quickly otherwise I wouldn't think about playing a test match on normal speed. In case you run out of the number of chances you can alter the speed then PM me, I will suggest you with a work around.

Ravi, i used your patch (ver 12) and bowled first on a normal pitch.
SL vs NZ, me as SL.

NZ made a good score of 265 all out off 45 overs.

I liked how they played a variety of strokes, they were very hard to bowl too. They punished you for getting the line and length just a tiny bit wrong. They weren't tied down by spinners either, which is a great thing.

But then i batted and i found it a bit easy, even with the batidealwindow dropped to 1.4 and !XSpeed was on 1.50.

I passed their score in the 35th over.

To combat this high score, what i did was just made the infield slow again when i was batting, and changed it back when i bowled, then in the next game i played i was restricted to 302 after 50, with the CPU falling 31 runs short in its chase.

So to sum up, this is a great patch! :)
and i hope you dont mind me changing it around to suit my own batting.

Cheers.

Thats was some very good comments from one like you, cheers mate. You are more than welcome to change around as you wish and I am even happy if you want to publish it. In fact it would be great if you can upload those configs for people who may wish to have it bit hard when it comes to batting. Over it you can continue to keep imporving this patch as we had planned once we were happy with this patch. However mate, I appreciate your feedback. As I said you can you carry on improving this patch from here on and publishing it if you like.

Those guys who downloaded the straight drive made harder patch from the stories section please download the attached one. After having tightned the straight drives, the batting was rendered harder for both human and CPU against the slower bowlers. The CPU was missing the drives after having danced down the pitch(Murali, this may have been the problem you mentioned a couple of posts above) and also was being tied down when a swing bowler was bowling. These issues have been addressed in this patch and if anything please let me know.

Ok, sounds good, but i think i will test it some more first.
I am yet to test my edited settings on a green, damp or wet pitch.

The patch is great fun though, it has made me play crick 2004 heaps more, its great to finally have a challenge when bowling! :)

PS- I'm playing a tour with a made up team at Cricket Central using your patch. It is in my sig so you can check it out to see the scores im getting. (I am batting using the slower infield speed and bowling without it)

Sure mate, you take your time. I see the scores both batting and bowling have been fairly realistic in the link you mentioned there.

Again I think there needs little tweaks here and there still especially the top order batting. The lower middle order and one from the top order seems to have been scoring bulk of runs in my opinion. That way it will only be say only one among Gilly, Hayden and Ponting may get runs but not all of them. I wish to sort this out a little and will let you know when I am happy with it.
