Ashes-2023 England VS Australia 16 June-31 July

What a swan song series for Broad this has been. Think it’s ultimately the right decision.

His pull shot is pretty strong at below express pace. It's got to get up into the 90s to trouble him. Or at least, so far. As his eyes deteriorate the speed required ought to come down.

Eventually KP started to get intro trouble with his front foot pull, iirc.

They could knock the runs off with 3 or 4 down, the way things are going.

Smith / Marnus / Head still to come.

Bit of magic from somewhere required. Mark Wood with a bit of reverse swing? Broad with another perfectly executed bail switch? Short leg with the jelly beans in the batsman's eyeline?

Deep-diving on bowling attacks.... I'm surprised but this is only the second (and last) time Anderson, Broad, Woakes and Wood will play a test together. Anderson, Broad and Woakes will have played more tests with Chris Jordan as a bowling attack (they won all three, against India in 2014).

I don’t think that’s surprising to me. Wood was injury prone and for a while pretty poor in England while Woakes was crap everywhere else but in England.
