Ashes-2023 England VS Australia 16 June-31 July

This is what England were missing!! A genuine express pace bowler who can shoot the tail thick and fast.

Hope England learns a lesson from it and give their favorite work horse -- James Anderson -- farewell. Its time for them to get some aggressive pacers.

Hard to do much at that pace when it's moving. The seam is just floating down the wicket at the perfect angle.

Wood have fitness issues, Archer, Stone & Mahmood are injured afaik.

They just need one fast bowler at home as a point of difference. Woakes is no better than Jimmy for instance and has been very effective himself.

Amazing spell from Wood, killed our tail!

Woakes started the collapse though - Bison & Head wickets were huge!!

Wood in this form reminds me of that match against the West Indies when, he'd not played the first two matches, came in and ripped through them. I think that was just when he'd lengthened his run up and found an extra few MPH.

If England hadn't ruined Archer while marvelling at his capacity for long spells they'd have two super quick bowlers to have on rotation to manage workload.

I think Jofra was destined to become crocked after a while like Bumrah with that action of his. Needs a fundamental rework of his run-up.

They played together once, first match during covid. Stokes' first match as captain and they left out Broad. We lost to the West Indies, Shannon Gabriel got man of the match.

Zak Crawley has equalled the number of matches played by John Crawley who - with an average of 34.61 - was considered a failure at the top level. When you look at the bowlers he faced in his career I'd say 34.61 was pretty good.

McGrath, Gillespie, Ambrose, Warne, Walsh, Donald, Fleming, Zaheer Khan, MacGill, Reiffel, de Villiers, Harbhajan, McDermott, Kasprowicz, Lee, Waqar, Wasim, Murali, Vaas.

Okay, in that case maybe they can follow a rotation policy between these four so that at least one or two are available at all times.

I dunno, I'm not sure if it's just the inherent injury problems of super fast twitch muscle.

I don't see anything in his action that's really misaligned. They can probably reengineer it a bit to try and put less stress on whatever keeps breaking down but I don't know if you can really fix it.

Fast bowlers come back from back injuries successfully sometimes but if it's niggles with elastic sorts of tissues it's just never ending.

Agreed. I would have still beaten the drum for a young Woakes but unfortunately age is no more by his side. Frankly, even Robinson has been off color this series, Tongue looks good at the moment. Lets see how he fares in the long run. I read someone pointing out he is injury prone too.
