Ashes Cricket 2013 General Discussion

I think so.

When moving away from actual gameplay. I would love to see rain/bad weather included. It gives matches that added bit of excitement when your chasing a score and you suddenly loose a session or a few overs. It's such a big part of cricket that it shouldnt be ignored. Include a weather on/off system to satisfy those who don't want it. Am I dreaming here? Or is this even a slight chance?

No dreaming required: Big chance. Very big chance...

As ever, more to follow. :)

Licensing

Chief,

Just wondering why you couldn't get licenses for the other nations in IC2010? Was it a cost thing or is it true that EA have contracts all tied up? Do you know if these contracts include Aus/Eng domestic leagues?

Any hints on domestic cricket inclusions...? ;)

What measures you have done to make sure that batsmen with low attributes in playing swing/spin bowling really play and misses/edges alot compare to the batsmen with higher attributes for playing swing/swing? I mean surely like last game edges/play n misses will not be solely dependent upon timing right?

I won't reveal any AC09 or IC10 details that aren't public knowledge already I'm afraid... And I'm CERTAINLY not going to speculate about other publishers arrangements!

In terms of national sides, yes: I think that you'd have to have agreements with each individual board to include their players, kits etc. I think a license with the ICC would allow you to use players and kits within a particular tournament (IE, the "World T20 Sri Lanka") but not outside of that game-mode: there's certainly been games in the past that have worked like that from memory.

Details on which teams are included will come later in the year: sorry to leave you on tenterhooks but there's lots of good reasons we can't disclose that just yet.

That's ok, I absolutely understand that you can't reveal everything we want immediately! I am so excited for this game, and I can't believe it was only announced a week ago! I certainly will be waiting with baited breath for any extra info!!

I want something like,Where we can assign the fielding spot for each player and not Fielders are randomly placed to the fielding spots. And also we can place the fielders in about 10 -20 meters from the boundary.

We have had games where the AI has been absolutely ridiculous. The field placements by the AI, the way they bat has been rubbish. Also, it is genreally seen that they don't get run out/stumped and when they get out LBW it seems that it is only because they have been slow on the shot.

How important is it for you guys this time to get the AI right? Are there any consultant who will help specifically plan this?

What if Im playing as that team? Then i could be able to use it right?...

I was joking. :) Every team would be able to use it in the game, even if they refuse to in real life.

Very important. Rest assured, it's an area that's getting ceaseless attention, and always is. We're getting a lot of help from various Cricketing peoples, but I can't give you specific details of who just yet. It will come.

This might be a funny question but still, assuming you didnt have the Australian cricket board's licence if you could create Ricky Ponting's face and attributes to his likeness but release it unofficially then would it be a problem?

Since now you have confirmed (?) that there will be DRS in game, I would like to add a suggestion that it would be good if the decisions depends on Umpire ratings. There should be option to disable/enable DRS as well. I hope the addition of DRS doesn't ruin the fun of playing where for every wicket you'll have to take DRS, I hope it doesn't mean the increase in bad decisions. DRS is not really important addition but however I think developers were forced to add it due to increasing demand.

In real cricket you are given only 3 (unsuccessful) appeals per innings. I guess they would have gone by that rule.

I know, I mean inclusion of DRS should not increase the no. of bad decisions where for every wicket you would think that you should have taken DRS.
