Ashes Cricket 2013 General Discussion

Different physique?

Is there any chance of more editing options? Not the basic ones, but the ones that can somewhat go higher, something like a boot editor, stadium editor etc?

Could we have players with different heights? (Not sure if C09 had this)

This would only make sense for me if it had a real effect on the game. Finn can bang the ball in the way he does because the ball comes from a different height than other bowlers, Pietersen is so explosive because he uses his height, crouching like a tiger waiting to pounce and unleashing all that kinetic energy into his shots.....I know I am probably asking too much in many peoples eyes but take Fifa as an example....the ball behaves like you are used to when playing football or watching it...it is unpredictable when it smashes against the crossbar or the keepers legs or hits the ground with a certain spin. If we can get the ball to behave as a ball does in a physical environment depending on all the factors present in that environment, whether it be human, organic or innate, i.e the players physical attributes, the grass and air and ground attributes and the bat or pads or stumps, then we will have one hell of a cricket game, where the winning team is the one who is able to press out the most control in an unpredictable set of equations, whether it be bowling or batting or fielding. That would be starting point if I were building a game from scratch...what does a cricket ball do in this or that set of parameters, and build from there......

Chief, what would you give IC10 out of 10? What were your 3 biggest gripes with it?

Excellent question Shravi.

"IT'S A TRAP!"

I'll go you one better and say that's a question of pure genius.

Lots of factors involved in answering this one - I'm going to be doing some long-form answers on some questions as we go, and this one's most definitely in that category... So give me a little time on this...

You devious thing. :-)

I would be interested to know where you see the new fan base coming from as this would give an insight into the naturenof the game you are wishing to produce.

By using The Ashes one would assume you are looking at England and Australia as the main target area? If not how would you envisage attracting fans from other partsof the world?

The Ashes is test match cricket of course and not IPL . Will the game represent test match cricket or will it be Twenty20 with blokes in white shirts?

Really good question...

Could just be that's the recognizable brand that's top of mind in cricket games currently, also that ties it in nicely with the ashes tour that will be top of mind? Not sure, but I'm always of the opinion the more SIMPLE the name of the game is, the better it's going to be (and easier to market). Mass Effect. Assassin's Creed. Prince of Persia. Etc etc...

Catchy, simple names.

Just calling the game "Cricket" or "Cricket 13" seems to be a more logical marketing move, in my opinion.

To be fair you weren't actually directly involved in IC10 so you should feel able to rubbish and criticise it your new colleagues. ;)

New code; written from scratch. If you're asking if the PC version will be a port of the console ones then Jamie can answer that...

Aye: The PC and console versions are built on the same tech. Not to get some people around these parts salivating, but at this stage we're actually leading development on PC...
