Ashes Cricket 2013 General Discussion

Yes, I have read that too. My post was to Mike, not to you, so it's not up to you to decide whether he deems it worth a reply or not.

Move on :)

You know you're posting in a forum, right? This isn't email. It's a community, you're going to get other people discussing what you say... this is a concept you understand? He's already told you he's a) moved on and b) we've had pages and pages and pages and pages and PAGES of discussion about all the horrific things Trickstar/505 have done in terms of belittling this community of people with release dates and whatever else, we all know it went balls up for them banging about apologies or whatever else you're not-saying-but-are-saying is getting really old really fast and the level of discussion happening in this thread previously is vastly more interesting than complaining about not receiving some mea-culpla from a developer who's got more important things to do than apologize to the rabble.

to be fair, i thought his "i've moved on" remark was a joke in relation to the barmy post about Mike Fagan breaking into the queens bedroom (i.e. he's moved on from breaking in to elderly ladies bedrooms and prefers kennels now...)

and while i agree that we're owed nothing, i do think that changes when he takes the time to post here and gives a date by which we can expect something . while we're not exactly "owed" a sackcloth and ashes full on apology or anything, i do think an acknowledgement that the date has moved, rather than just moving the date in the next post is in order, especially if you are going to post about actions speaking louder than words.

i think we can agree Ross' engagement is over and above and shouldn't be a stick to beat Mike with, but at the same time nobody has a gun to Mike's head making him post here, so I think if he does take the time to do so it's not unreasonable to hope for a bit more than what's obviously just been agreed in this morning's meeting.

Play nicely people. There's no need to nitpick each others's posts.
Also the Buckingham Palace one wasn't me; I'm more original than that ;)

Absolutely, and I don't disagree with any of this. But I think someone whinging asking for an apology on missing some arbitrary "early September" statement when it's STILL early September is the definition of pedantic.

I think the idea that we're "owed" an apology for a statement made is just silly nonsense. He's just here of his own free will, trying to contribute and everyone treats every single post he makes as some gotcha-call trying to trap him in his words all the time. We're not a lynch mob...

We get what we get, when we get it. I don't understand what is so wrong about that.

You're allowed to be a mob...

My theory - 505 are looking at the screenshots/videos and trying to make a decision on whether it's good enough to bother with going through the approvals process and taking it to market.

They were likely very embarrassed as a company by everything they needed to organise for a release going down the drain when the game was simply not ready - not to mention having advertising and catalogues go out for the game after it was delayed. I'm sure this time they are going to make a decision on whether the game is good enough to put their name to, or cut their losses now.

I can't imagine they'd show us screenshots or videos until they were certain they were going ahead with a release - and I wouldn't be surprised if that was a line-ball call.

very much my working theory too. and i have a hunch it's not looking good.

Which makes me wonder why those first images were ever released and where they came from... I vaguely remember at the time Chief wasn't sure?

From the department of optimism back when they thought they were in with a chance of approvals for June. The game was obviously 'playable' at that point - because they had something to show at Lord's running off an Xbox 360, even if they wouldn't let anyone else touch it.

That Vine was baffling.

...Yeah, that Vine thing is pretty indefensible. I can't glass-half-full that.

i loved that vine.

batsman moved back and across and played a ropey forward defensive. it was just like i was watching myself. (especially the bit with the underwhelmed/hostile response from spectators.)

They're still advertising, though - another back-page advert on this month's Cricketer magazine, now stating a November release. So cutting the losses hasn't exactly started right away...
