Ashes Cricket 2013 General Discussion

There are so many people including me who have talked about career mode in this forum. I would request Chief to tell us if it is a possibility at all in 2013. Should we have any hope at all?

What are the improvements in bowling.I would really like to have blic 2005 style pace where you really felt you were facing genuine fast bowlers ,otherwise in the ashes series games you do not get hurried while facing quick bowlers.

I think the 'number of bats' is an extremely trivial aspect in the grand scheme of changes that are needed.

Games like AC09 and IC10 were fundamentally flawed. Whether it was the gameplay or the online connectivity, it forced most of us to put the game away after only a few short months. I'm quite confident with the responsiveness of Chief onboard that we have a good thing going here with AC13.

In all honesty, it is a little concerning to me that Jamie Firth is in the team. I, and others, had our criticisms here and these haven't been forgotten. Jamie made some misleading statements, and also kept quiet when paying customers asked questions about the failing aspects of games like AC09. I think he should take some responsibility for these, rather than to blow them off like yesterday's news.

I'll give Chief and the team the benefit of the doubt that they can produce a cricket game with an improved functional gameplay, real-life statistical tracking and a stable online connectivity should the latter feature be included.

I'm afraid to say not this time. We know it's high on the wish list, and it is with us too, but it's a massive amount of work to create (and test) and we're 100% focused on making the game experience the key goal. And that comes first.

Hi people coming over here after a long long time when I noticed this Ashes Cricket 2013 threads.
So I got a suggestion that I will like to put forward. In previous all Cricket games when bowlers tends to ball we can see the cursor where they are going to ball before it has been bowled. It is very foolish and ruins the whole game of cricket where you need to anticipate where the ball is gonna land and play as per the situation.
So my suggestion is, as it is a game and we cannot see where the bowler is going to ball by their hand and arm movement so just show us the cursor when the bowl is about to get bowled, as a result we will have a little time to react and there will chances of mistakes and we can extract fun from bowling too.

I hate to say it dude, but look underneath the Chief mask, and the old enemy is underneath... But hey: at least our two years apart have downgraded to "misleading" what once was branded outright "lies". :)

I can't fix any past injustices you might have felt: I hope to prove you wrong this time round is all.

Not sure if "Most Of Us" is actually a statistical fact, as I've not stopped playing AC09 since I got it, I've been modding it for years and the C09 forum is the second-most active forum on Planet Cricket in terms of mods! So I'm not sure what stats you're basing that on.. I also own IC10 on PS3 and I've played it less than AC09, so not sure what that says about me. That being said, C09 is far from a perfect game, but it's damn good fun for an ARCADE cricket game, which is exactly what it's supposed to be. It's not a cricket SIMULATOR in the style of Cricket 07 but saying "most of us put it away after a few months" is flat out untrue. Do older cricket games have better career modes and other features? Of course, but they're also from an age when a lot of them could be run by your mobile phone processor today! Really depends on what you look for in a game, and HOW you look at those games without rose-tinted glasses.

When you sit down and objectively look at an "out of the box" game like Cricket 07, it's terrible. It's only "got good" by years of dedicated modding which is why it's continued success both baffles and pleases me. It's evolution has a life of its own now, but it's still an inferior game to 99% of modern sports games. AC09 and IC10 took the next logical steps in terms of cricket games, yes they're more "Arcade" but they're not the buy-and-drop-em games you suggest they are/were.

...you'll also find reviews for IC10 were pretty positive, in fact, this very website reviewed it as one of the highest-rated Cricket Games yet, and graphically it's pretty impressive, if a little light on varied animations.

I'm not defending either game as they both have flaws, and lets be honest, ANY cricket game isn't going to simulate cricket anything like getting out on the park and playing it, but nothing that I've seen, read or played suggests to me there was anything nefarious going on by any game developer to "deceive" anyone...Peoples expectations (mine included) on PlanetCricket are always going to be impossibly high when it comes to dedicated cricket-game-forum-users. The greater community and casual gamers are simply not going to have a huge interest (or investment) in Online Cricket Gaming, and Chief has talked about that in another thread.

In short; Glass Half Full is the best advice for life, and Cricket Gaming. Souring threads with resentment and negative posts isn't going to get us a better cricket game... positivity and great suggestions will.

Completely agree with what Biggs said. Actually even now whenever we get time we play AC09 .You can't get rid off this cricket even you are a doctor or some research scholar .

Is there at least some kind of extended tour/season mode?

i know its ashes cricket13. but, can we play tours like indian in england /pakistan...t20 world series...how many cricket stadiums are there in this ashes 13 apart from england and australia grounds?

You did mention seaguls, cheerleaders being on the top of the list. So are there crowds like in the FIFA World Cup SouthAfrica game? i.e. Close ups and Fan groups for a particular nation.
Something like this...

He was being facetious regarding cheerleaders. I don't think anyone wants that in a cricket game.

...Seagulls on the other hand....

Ditto...
