Ashes Cricket General Discussion

So, I've been watching some dbc 17 on YouTube and I can actually see the ball (unlike in ac). I'm thinking about buying dbc17 because of this.

How does it compare to ac? Are there any major differences? It's mad to think I've bought ac and then I'll buy dbc17 to replace it but being able to see the ball without having the trail or ball markers on is a game changer for me.

My experience.

T20 and ODI are hugely enjoyable. Test cricket is unplayable because you can't play close fielders without the bat pad smash ruining matches.

Oh no...I've read about that. I've seen it a few times in ac but I wouldn't like to see it ruining a match...

I had an interesting day and a bit of test cricket last night.

Despite getting 90 with one batsman I floundered with the rest and got bowled out for 168. The AI team then seemed to start getting out in strange ways, not the usual out of the blue lobs to mid off. It felt like there was an intention to keep the score low and match competitive - I think I bowled them out for about 190. Still had a couple of nice edges, a very pleasing bowled but amongst it there were cuts to cover and a pull shot to fine leg. It was also like they were giving chances. I've noticed this before in one day games, if I get a low score batting first then the AI will more often than not just crumble.

Putting that strange bowling session aside, the batting was really genuinely tough - not in terms of wickets lost, most of them were down to my stupidity or impatience. But the first session I reckon I scored 20 runs in the first 4 overs and then 70 in the next 27. I have changed my approach somewhat, I'm waiting for balls that can be played into gaps rather than trying to work the ball into gaps, so this could be a factor. Another by product of that, especially playing fewer square drives, is that the amount of edges I get has gone down about 50-75%.

Before the match I'd altered the bowlers on each team to have a judgement in line with how I'd rate batsmen (treating it as a batting only skill) - so they were much lower. It may be my imagination or other factors, but I'm sure they AI bowling seemed better or at least more difficult to play. It was more noticeable in the seamers - Tim May (OS) was still throwing down 3 or 4 balls an over that turn away from the right hander - in that they continued to bowl a good line but the length was less predictable/consistent.

Of course it might be that I'm seeing things that aren't there, the batting from the bowlers didn't seem much different to previous matches despite the reduced judgement.

What camera angles correspond to those in DBC14 - batting/fielding? If it makes sense, I'm looking for the one that follows the ball along the field when I hit the shot, not stays put at the crease.

I really try with Test but in its current state it's so frustrating. Take's so long to get any wickets. When you do get a wicket it's only because the batsman decides to give his wicket away.

Online mode is far from easy... the pace variation/swing etc makes it very hard so everyone complaining, remembet that’s only against AI. Game itself isnt easy

Go to academy and lower the batting skills and then you don't need to go online, it's a game changer as far as easy batting is concerned.. except for the fact dancing done the track shot is still overpowered... Keeping in 50s or late 50s for genuine batsmen and keeping it really low for bowlers.. Also, make the Opposition bowlers on all 100 adds to the fun.. After all that no easy sixes and batting is good now.. People should mess with skills and all of this highly recommend!!

Join our fb group for the greatest players of online. If you score 90+ in the first t20 game against some big gun, you’ll be considered an average player :D. And yes, maximize the skill if u want too. Do whatever u want.

I don't want to play against players who will go on and do negative bowling, exploit loop holes in the game to win it, I would rather play with a friend who I know...Plus online gameplay feels laggy.. Plus I don't have time to bowl 20 overs...hahaa.. AI is kind of ok for me.

Heard about AO tennis gameplay, Will there be a patch for AC in Jan'18, thats doubtful now..after reading all this about AO tennis. Another rushed game..

I've been really enjoying batting at the mo. I'm not that good but i mostly only use sticks or defensive shot. I edge it ALOT :lol I always have when playing all the dbc's and AC. I had a b-e-a-utiful nick off with cook that got big on him. Defensive shot too! I loved it, even tho i lost a wicket :) I'm very rarely aggressive when batting which i feel then brings in more edges when batting.

Why most of them here says that, they don't see the ball during matches... I can see the ball perfectly... there is no problem... also there is graphics setting which makes ball visible more...

I did some testing with batting from last 3 days by reducing the overall points of the players as @wasteyouryouth had bit of success with it.
Earlier in my custom teams i use to have overall points of all players at 80. Now i reduced them to 70 for batsman and 75 for allrounders and bowlers. Also using modifiers shot timing 50 and others 100. Pacebowling 62, shot force 20, marker time 15 and few others. I really started seeing edges in both tests and odis. Atleast 2-3 players in an innings are getting out due to edges. I am really loving the game now.
Only complaint i have is second innings bowling in test matches. Its really hard to get wickets with bowling.

I haven't changed any modifiers but the game feels a lot better with lower skilled players, always has. Found that playing with the associate teams at first.
