Ashes Cricket General Discussion

My difficulty setting often revert back to Easy batting and easy bowling whenever I start the PS. Even the modifiers are reverting back.

Is there a way to permanently set Hard/Hardest as default one ?

I will back out from there next game, if they neglect Ashes Cricket...
And I will back out even if they dont neglect AC and comes with a patch after 3 months from now, I can save some cash after buying later and save up time on tweaking and frustration etc.. It's good to switch to other games and learn from the mistakes..Paid more price than fifa 18 to buy AC and got only 50% value from AC only.. These games are close to ready after 6months from release..

The game is for 12 YEAR OLDS who probably saw a couple of matches since they were born and wanted to play.. I tell you they will be extremely happy with the game.. haha.. I wonder if this is Ross Symons head behind the game..Made this game for his grandson.
Lol if it's for 12 year olds then i guess I'm a 12 year old at heart lol.
If it wasn't for big ant we wouldn't have any new cricket games at all. I would still be playing international cricket 2010.

I really think this game will be sumthn special but possibly in a new iteration somewhere down the line. For now it may never be truly great due to the bugs and commentary.

Will we forever be complaining about commentary in cricket titles? EA might have an answer. Lol

Ashes need lot of patches
As green short balls too are not able to br connected in front foot nor on backfoot.
The shots are broken they need to look into it seriously.
Atleast dbc17 shots were not broken there were other issues like run out bugs ; 8 runs, catch not given out; and the run out bug.
But in ashes batting shots are not up to the mark at all.
It's really not excepted a company always grows never goes downhill it always upgrade their products.
With big ant ant
Dbc14 great game newest approach towards a cricket game.
Rating 8.5/10

Dbc17 horrible at release later playable after patches online always buggy and later no patch support.
Trublu vs bigant
Innocent consumers took the pain.
Shots were perfect but not as perfect as dbc14.
With no backfoot shots in the game was missing in dbc14 it was a delight to play it.
Still enjoyable.
But buggy online with 8 runs;run out bug;umpire wrong decisions.
Bowling was the most positive thing happened in dbc17, batting shot were good but not close to their earlier edition.
Rating 7/10
Ashes
Nothing in place except mo cap pictures of the licensed players.
Batting shots broken.
Short red and green balls can't be played on front foot.
Batting is full of problems.NEEDS LOT OF WORK BEHIND IT NOT UP TO THE MARK ATALL
RATING 4/10
Really strange as a game developer how can they detoriate or go level down with every realease.
This just not done, they have really done a great job exploiting the emotions of all the innocent consumers; who keep on buying there new editions.
Hate to say this. But you are probably right.

to be fair the day 1 patch version of the game was the best cricket game ever by far, then they patched the shit out of it and ruined it...I don't understand how you can drop 4 patches in the space of 2 weeks and make the game worse and worse each time, if we could go back to the day 1 patch version a lot of people would be very happy
Wish I had a chance to play it when the first patch came out. I actually had to wait till about 3 weeks ago when I could finally get my hands on it. Had to wait since its actually quite difficult to get a copy in my country.

I thought waiting would be better for me so that the game can be improved and people in the community could create good players....

I also don't understand why we can't just flick a switch and go back to it, whether it be on PC or PS4. Surely somewhere in BA towers is the proverbial day one patch? It doesn't look like their people are even reading the forums any longer.

Big ant just needed to do do this for ashes.

Combine effort for ashes 17 to be a superhit game
Of the year 2018
Dbc17 bowling
Dbc 14batting and some good thing from dbc 17 batting like batsman movement.
Mocaps
Worked on graphics and fielding
These put in together in ashes 17 would have made it the best game ever.

Ah so simple, where were you when BA were developing Ashes......

I don't know if I played this mythical masterpiece day one patch, I played the game the day it was delivered by Amazon - I think it was the day of release. My memory of that was being out three to four times an innings from stumpings I had no control over and batsman being run out by wandering down the wicket and turning slower than a tanker. That still happens but the fielders seem to hold onto the ball instead.

Even if those things appeared after minor changes I they would have caused all the other bugs and issues that you routinely come across to just appear out of nowhere.

I think bowling was phenomenal, mentalities were present, it was similar to the beta that the testers were foaming about on the forums.

A few weeks ago I tried testing the vanilla game, out of the box, without letting it update. The cricket was far better but there was some issue of selected lineups not sticking in the game.

I only bowled with it, and there were a distinct lack of singles taken to deep fielders. I remember that being the only problem.

However it seems that bizarrely by adding the fixed cameras 1 and 2, they seem to have had the knock on effect of messing up the AI. Don't ask me how this happens, and I'm not sure I quite believe it, but I remember this being spoken about at the time.

I'm with you about the cameras, I'm not an expert but adding them and then gameplay being fudged makes about as much sense as logos effecting gameplay.

I have my doubts about how much what I do matters when it come to bowling. The fact that there are so many silly dismissals and lob ups makes me feel like the only thing missing is the AI getting out in ways that are more convincing so that it's not as obvious that what you do doesn't really matter. Or at least doesn't matter that much. Mentalities seem to come and go randomly - and they're not particularly well setup anyway for batting and especially AI bowling.

I did stick it on while listening to the Aus v Eng ODI and I turned seam revolutions down to 10 and the magic cutter deliveries were far less effective. The pitches might have been different, I wasn't paying that much attention. I still bowled one team out for 80, but had to utilise the bouncer delivery. Then Pakistan managed 196 against me - both ODIs. There were going along fairly well and were 120/3 until the 21st over when I brought Imran Tahir on and he took three wickets in an over. Got another three with him - two of which were catches by De Kock teleporting to short leg.

In the day one patch-
  • AI did not take singles in the deep.
  • Stumping bug was present
  • Caught off pads during spin was very frequent.
  • Pull/hook shot lobbed for a caught behind.
  • Ball used to pass through bat often.
  • Run out bug was frequent.
  • Stats had even more issues.
  • Cut shot still went to cover, mid off.
  • The infamous Prod shot was present
  • More trophies were bugged.
I don't know If I want the day one patch back, cos there has been number of things BA has fixed with the patches.

I guess it depends if you prefer batting or bowling. Apart from the singles not being taken bowling was much better. Half of those bugs are still there. I see the prod shot more and caught off pads against spin.

Agree with you. And like @Langeveldt says, a lot of them are still present to some degree, plus a lot more that were probably not noticed before the first patch came out - teleporting keepers, this cutter magic ball I've found etc.
