Ashes Cricket General Discussion

Exactly! The notion that BA might have abandoned the game/wont fix it is absurd. Just because they have released a new game and are patching it first or giving priority to it (this, again, is just speculation) doesn't mean the Ashes has been done with. Every worthwhile effort takes time and in this case if it means a couple of months more, I would take that any day.

how is speculation? it's observed fact.

Ashes cricket got 2 days of support - a rushed patch that stopped wickets registering, and a fix to that wickets issue. (they also made more prevalent the stumping bug despite an objective of those patches being to "fix" it.)

A month later, they pushed out an unambitious irrelevant patch that did next to nothing, and has no identifiable improvement (i don't count it):

Hi Everyone,

An update for Ashes Cricket is now available on Xbox One and PS4. This update brings both consoles in line with eachother, which means slightly different update notes for each platform.

Xbox One patch notes (version 1.0.0.7)
- Additional photogrammetry for English players
- Adjusted display time of ball marker online
- Adjusted timing of return to crease after shots
- Restructured statistics calculations
- Disabled gameplay modifiers in online matches
- Resolved issues with trophy/achievement unlocks
- Improved stability

PS4 patch notes (version 1.06):
- Disabled gameplay modifiers in online matches
- Resolved issues with trophy/achievement unlocks
- Improved stability

When it releases on the 16th, the PC version will match this console update.

Enjoy!

Since AO Tennis has released, it has had multiple patches that have had identifiable improvements, while ashes has received no attention. to refer to the idea that AO has been prioritised as speculation is so off-kilter with reality as to be absurd.

for the record, i defend their right to prioritise their time and support as to whatever they think is in the commercial needs of the company. there are people who rely on the company to pay their salaries and put a roof over their head.

equally, i respect and defend the right of us as a community/individual consumers of the game to interpret the haphazard nature of the support ashes has received, particularly the post-release regressions, as evidence of a company not in control of their own codebase, and to withdraw optimism and benefit of the doubt. the game has great elements, and some sucky elements. it was ever thus. what has changed (for me) is my confidence in BA having the appetite, wherewithal and systems to address the sucky elements in a coherent manner that doesn't regress the great elements. and as evidence i cite the post release support of the game to date.

Tbf, if going by Big Ben's previous Rugby game then Tennis World Tour could be absolutely woeful.

Could very well be the case but Big Ant did them no favours either by pushing out AO Tennis in the state it is. But I'm looking forward to Tennis World Tour as it's the same core team which developed Top Spin 4.

What's your batting settings/sliders? (sorry to lazy to check). Encouraged that they actually got you out playing a defensive shot, and batting looked pretty sweet.

Not having your bat beaten, stumps flying or LBW off a defensive shot is the main thing putting me off batting.

everything is default mate. i play legend, hard/hard/hard and don't touch anything else.

I'm done with the latest build, everything shovelled to leg on the stumps. If 3.5 an over is not achieved, go for a slog. So boring. I still think Brian Lara 2005 had the best bowling experience. Confidence, aggression, skills, swing, pace, pitches, all modeled. I have it on 6 CDs somewhere!
if Brian Lara 2005 is the same as Ricky Ponting 2005 then I have to agree with you, grew up on that game and it had so much good stuff... The scenarios for example, where you had to play through a historic event in matches gone by

If only there was a Once a Week/Fortnight , small little report on where they stand and what they are busy with , then you at least feel that something is happening.

Will honestly take a Bigant Employee 10 minutes max.(You know one of the guys that apparently gets paid to read these forums...) Expand their Scope to enable them to TYPE something as well.

But for some reason we are left in the dark , having to make do with a random Tweet here and there.

Losing all goodwill fast.

BLIC2005 Had amazing bowling, nothing beats how satisfying it felt to bowl someone in that game with a quick...especially as the quick's were QUICK and the stump sound was perfect too!

Oh right yeah...like hitting 6 sixes with Sobers and stuff like that? Ravi Rampaul was inexplicably a leggie on that game though.

I'm not getting logos while downloading stadiums. Include logos are kept to yes. Anyone, please help.

Yup :( Seemingly gone are the days of coming on here and checking posts for BA (Ross) or anyone with posts. Now just random tweet replies saying the same generic thing... 'We are working on patches' With no real communication from them it just opens up to speculation and the snow ball effect happens. It's a real shame even their own forums i checked the other day .... Dead isn't the word over there. It's a shame I enjoyed the to a fro from Ba on here and it added alot to the community here. I too understand over the past few games the negativity drove the enthusiasm away but even so... I know Ross has said there will be support (hence the £50 PC price) but it's been long enough now without anything. A post on here with a roadmap/plans/thoughts from them would go along way i feel.

I for one still remember the interactions with guys from ba on the forums: passionate, commited, bending over backwards to get things in the game that we wanted. These are still the same people. In the beta process Mike and Ben were always available day and night: commited, passionate and desperate to deliver. I still am firmly confident that nothing has changed in this regard. There is no conspiracy theory; they are just working tirelessly to get things done and will turn their attention to cricket again.

Well, considering they've just announced their silly little bbl Facebook game, I think it's pretty obvious where their efforts have been going.

Remember DBC17 came out on PC in mid-January and there wasn't a significant patching process until the end of April. I would be very confident they will be back to work on the game again, whether the end result will meet the standards of some of the people here is another question.

The question isn't whether they will return and patch the game. I'm sure they will. It's whether theres any possibility for them to improve the game in a consistent manner. That's what I doubt, based on everything I've seen with the game so far, I don't have any confidence.
