Ashes Cricket General Discussion

to be fair, we did test 1.06, it just didn't do anything.

.

One can only assume that patch was fixing bugs, issues, perhaps online etc if no gameplay changes were in the offing - doesn't make sense otherwise?[DOUBLEPOST=1517567784][/DOUBLEPOST]
Look i mean this in a very respectful way.

For me Beta team failing to rectify AI feild settings issue and not spotting very basic things such as AI batsman defending in the last over is simply not acceptable.

I wonder which cricket exports advised BA on technicalities of cricket.

Dont think they have seen real cricket being played.

No offence just being honest

Last sentence alone qualifies for Post of the Day - well done.....

Another query for the beta tester how did they not find the FPS issue in night games

read the below and decide for yourself.

Hi Everyone,

An update for Ashes Cricket is now available on Xbox One and PS4. This update brings both consoles in line with eachother, which means slightly different update notes for each platform.

Xbox One patch notes (version 1.0.0.7)
- Additional photogrammetry for English players
- Adjusted display time of ball marker online
- Adjusted timing of return to crease after shots
- Restructured statistics calculations
- Disabled gameplay modifiers in online matches
- Resolved issues with trophy/achievement unlocks
- Improved stability

PS4 patch notes (version 1.06):
- Disabled gameplay modifiers in online matches
- Resolved issues with trophy/achievement unlocks
- Improved stability

When it releases on the 16th, the PC version will match this console update.

Enjoy!

Whilst I agree with many points raised in this thread I cannot help but come back to the point often made that forums overplay their importance to developers at times. We make up probably 0.1% of people who buy BA games. They engage with communities when promoting a game obviously and to get feedback on their titles. Outside of that, well......

Does anyone genuinely believe posting here/social media has any massive impact on main target audience of their games.?

Probably a lot more than many would give it credit. Forums tend to be places where the fanatics congregate, the fanatics drive a lot of knowledge about games one way or another. Particularly for a company without a huge marketing presence, this kind of thing can make a huge difference. It's pretty well known as well that more generally when things get picked up on forums, sites like reddit etc., they can really explode into popularity.

I know a considerable number of people who have bought Big Ant games due to how much I talked about them, due to getting them to try them out. That isn't uncommon for smaller developers. It's not about every fan coming onto such platforms, but the impact those fans have more broadly, particularly in terms of generating more visibility for such games.

well if that is true (I don't know?) then these sorts of activities would have to increase sales by the 1000's or more like 10,000's for any developer to take notice surely?

isnt it happening already almost every game has its own community with some dev involved mainly in the indie scene, small studios and even some AAA like witcher.

Forget games, even something like crypto currency is being airdropped for free as bounties in forums with large crypto community . the fanatics/community matters in every industry.

With ea introducing many micro transactions, what if game developers start patching games to make them worse just so that people will go and buy the next iteration?

Just a thought.... I think il wait for you guys to download and teSt the new patch first before I do. For all I know they could make things worse lol.

Going to start a 5 day test now. C u guys on monday. Have an awesome weekend.

Some stats about @BigAntStudios involvement in the discussion threads for each game;

DBC14 - 1,533 posts (out of a total 17,593), #1 rank poster with 8.7% of the posts.
DBC17 - 69 posts (out of a total 4,536), #11 rank poster with 1.5% of the posts. 4 posts since the 15/12 release date.
Ashes - 53 posts (out of a total 5,501), #27 rank poster with 1% of the posts. 6 posts since the 16/11 release date.

I would include AO Tennis, but it seems BA didn't even engage with any forums in the process of making that game.

I don't really care about number of posts from Big Ant folks and I definitely don't agree that a CEO's (Ross) time is better served engaging on the forums. The only thing that shows Big Ant are truly "engaging" with the community and listening to the feedback is by delivering . I mean words are cheap and they can get a guy in here making all sorts of statements but what would that prove or be of any help? Now if Big Ant deliver a patch or two that actually fix the existing issues and improve the game, it would be more of engagement as far as I'm concerned.

To me the proof of Big Ant not engaging is not the reduced number of posts across iterations but the fact that the next iterations of the game come with the same bugs and issues which the previous iteration had. This proves they either don't care about the issues/concerns mentioned here or they don't have the bandwidth to address them. To me that's lack of engagement, not the reduction in posts.

Absolutely, actions speak louder than words and the quantity of posts isn't the only (or best) way to gauge their efforts, but there seems to be a correlation between the number of posts and the quality of the games and the support they received.

If they had avoided the forums but knuckled down and made fantastic, complete games then there would be no problem, but right now the lack of communication seems to be more to hide away from the criticism than in an attempt to actually redirect their attention in a productive way.

Monopoly is the real issue here. BA is not even bothered to give a simple explanation.[DOUBLEPOST=1517586298][/DOUBLEPOST]And post of the day.. what in earth did i do to deserve that :facepalm:facepalm:facepalm:facepalm

Telling how you can "engage" and drum up interest in your next titles :

DBC17 : 64 Posts BEFORE it releases and then only 4....

Ashes Cricket : 47 Posts BEFORE launch...... and 6 after launch.

Now THATS "interesting" , and surely shows a "trend"

So BA use the Forums to get potential momentum and Customers for a new title , and then bugger off once launched.
