Ashes Cricket General Discussion

Agree with this wholeheartedly. A good game shouldn't need the player to restrict what they do due to limitations in the gameplay.
the game should be better than what it is in this instance, however it's never going to be perfect, I've never played a game that doesn't have a meta play style that allows easier wins

I don't get it. I'm enjoying the game with its difficulty levels. Is everyone who is complaining about the difficulty levels got the latest patch?

Perhaps it's the fact that you guys are bowling and hence beating teams easily?

I play with batting on medium and match ranging from pro to legend. I simulate the bowling after maybe 2 or 3 overs.

I've had some really close encounters. Had to battle my way to victory, got bowled out for 80 and sometimes scored 200 (T20).

I really don't understand why some are complainin that things are too easy. Perhaps I'm just useless at the game? Or maybe I am simulating the bowling and getting tougher totals to chase?

O well atleast I'm enjoying it.

Just wondering.. Has anyone ever been caught in the ring off of a normal shot no modifiers? I've heard people get a lot of easy wickets that way while bowling, but I don't think I've ever heard of people being dismissed this way while batting. I'm just curious because its the most common dismissal in rl... And before some smart Alec says... Slips don't count as in the ring fielders, and I know RL batsman don't have modifiers to gauge an opinion on whether it was a lofted shot or not lol.

You cannot understand, if you still play with batting on medium setting. Hope you understood now. Patches are required for the people who tactically approach the game.

FIFA legendary mode in Ashes Cricket would just be the AI hitting 6 off every ball. That would not be fun.

FIFA legendary mode is rigged AF. They know where you are going to pass it, know where you are going to run to, shoot to, its not an organic experience. Challenging yes, but I wouldn't call it realistic or a shining like of organic AI.

Advances in AI haven't kept pace with most other things in tech. The reason is because it's incredibly difficult, and those that have mastered it will keep it under lock and key to make as much money as possible.

I feel like a good solution would be a cloud bases one, where the game records what a human does against balls pitched in certain areas and then does performs the same shot in the same ratios. That way it would be like playing against an average human. To scale the difficulty, scale it more towards the most successful shot. I don't feel like it would be that difficult to do these days, I do a lot of big data stuff at work, but capturing the data and storing it is probably the biggest challenge.
Ashes is an incomplete game for which the people have payed the full price, they can't be optimistic and conditionally love the game..

Get used to the batting timing/Controls and I will ask you then whether you still enjoy.
Batting is predictable and there is no excitement after you get better with your timing against AI..

This may be an language thing but this is an absurd thing to say.....why cant someone understand? This is elitism at its worse..... you are basically saying “If you play on medium or have any other experience than the chosen ones then a. You are thick b. Your experience is invalid.....”

I wanted to expresses that the patches should be designed based on online gameplay as that is the area where batting is visible not up to mark as human balls different unseen lengths and batting is not equipped with that.
Offline batting looks good.
But it looks under par in online gameplay.
As I feel big ants have not thought about those deliveries which are not registered that the reason sometimes batting looks broken.
So to make it 100 % perfect big ants team should play few online games with few top online players
And then design patches .
As the ball physics differs a lot online and offline.
According to ai deliveres batting shots are equipped.
But batting looks broken online.
As big ant had never seen different lenghts human can bowl.
It's a emotional thought I want to express to big ants.

Simulation is pretty janky. Every career game I play is 350-400 in ODIs, usually around 4.5/over in Test matches too.

That said I also don't find it as easy to trash the AI while bowling as some people, even using yorkers/bouncers which they say are too effective.

Again absurd sweeping statements: you mean you cant be optimistic (did notice that indeed) or love the game.......let the rest of humanity decide that for themselves.

I'm just afraid that big ant may actually listen to this forum and then reset the difficulties to a point where easy and medium become really difficult due to people complaining about the simplicity even on Legend.

I hope that they do realize that not all people are finding this game less challenging. Some are enjoying the level of difficulty. Let's hope they don't mess around too much with my current difficulty settings in the next patch.

And to those who are finding the difficulty too easy, I sincerely hope that they maybe bump up the legend difficulty for you.

I'm enjoying the difficulties just as they are.

there is a tough middle ground. there is no question that batting is easier in ashes than dbc17/14 - human edges are less frequent and aggressive shots seem to carry less risk.

i think dbc17 had the best balanced human batting of the 3 iterations.

Correct me if am wrong . Doesn't look like if PC beta team is involved in patches coming up for ashes.

You guys got fired :D:facepalm!!!

it appears work commenced without involvement of the beta. it would be highly surprising if builds don't go to them first.

more than surprising, it would be a mistake. all 3 games have been improved through a beta approach (allowing for the random regressions you get elsewhere which IMO is an internal process issue).

Since I turned shot force to zero playing aggressive actually seems like a risk, even been caught right on the boundary which never happened on default sliders. I don't think it will take a lot of tweaking to make batting a decent challenge again.
