I don't really agree that it's up to the user to make the game look and feel anything like cricket, that is up to the game design/mechanics. I don't see the point in playing the game if I'm going to treat it more like an art project than a game, trying to manufacture "realistic" moments/scorelines out of it rather than simply playing a match and trying to win. Seen a few posts along the lines of "I can have a decent game, when I'm pretty much trying to let the CPU win...".
DBC17 let you almost completely restrict the CPU scoring anything due to it being so easy to bowl 6 perfect yorkers per over... You could easily just bowl maidens in the T20 career games... Why would I bother even attempting other deliveries?
Not my fault for "cheesing" it, it's the game's fault for having poor bowling mechanics that lack the scope for bowling length error (something that has barely improved in Ashes). Same with the batting, why try nudging the ball around and finding gaps when you can just blast it over them?
When it comes to crunch times in the match, where you need to restrict the opposition or accelerate the scoring, what then? Carry on doing the same "realistic" things or throw in a few of the "cheesy" things to try to win? By trying to play "realistic", you are not being challenged to think like you would on the pitch, using the strategies that work on the pitch to gain a competitive edge... You are just limiting yourself in an attempt to manufacture a pretty looking scorecard, and to me that's more boring than the "cheesing".
It happens in other games, sure... But an entire subset of cricket shots (aggressive lofted shots) being off limits because of the game's limitations is frankly ridiculous.
