So we are back to actually managing bowlers and setting fields rather than tweaking parameters to get a decent game.....so Handscomb gets his fifty after coming out and punishing any width with a beautiful straight drive down the ground past Jimmy's glum face....nowt new there.....Broad is having a good day to say the least; the new ball has a very marked effect....perhaps a tad too much? But it was a seam friendly pitch, green and overcast so perhaps not too bad?....I am wondering what to do to counter Handscomb, have set a couple of men deep square .....then Broad gets him to edge a couple through the gap between 2nd slip ( I have only two slips in at this point) and gully and decide to take second slip out and have a first and third slip and bring gully in slightly to an 8th slip position.....two balls later Broad edges it to a delighted Root at....third slip...........Before Handscomb came in, Smith came out and got to 12 at a run a ball...then Khawaja was out and Smith just slowed right down...Handscomb took up the gauntlet and Smith has been content to tick a long......mentalities are having a huge effect on the AI batting in a very positive way.

Its actually very interesting to flick through the different pitch maps of the bowlers to see that although it is one user controlling them they give quite different readings......if you compere Overton to Broad for example there is a huge hole in Overton's pitch map where Broad takes four wickets!

Anderson getting tonked a bit, Ali struggling to contain, Overton largely ineffective and Woakes doing pretty well......but it is Broad causing trouble!
